skatha
Chad Hendricks.....of Spring, actually greater Helltown...former inline skating master, is now poised to break Eric Heiden's record of 5 golds in long distance speed skating. He just started ice skating 4 years ago, after seeing an inline buddy win gold at Salt Lake. Also, Katy Taylor, second alternate women figure skater, also of Houston Both list the local rink as their home base.... Chad's quest begins today with the 1000 m
skategoat
Ah, the NBC hype machine in full gear. Chad Hedrick is no Eric Heiden. Jeremy Wotherspoon is the man to beat in the 500.
tex1230
Gotta love Texans in the winter olympics! Maybe I should move back and start racing again!!!

Sorry, hype must involve the local paper, too, because Houston is ranking dead last when it comes to watching the Olympics Chad had 50 inline skating victories, as opposed to 15 for his next nearest competitor. Speaking of Eric, he's there to watch Chad, too....
Neil Gendzwill
I thought his quest began with the 5000? Didn't he take that on Saturday? Last I heard Jeremy wasn't too shabby at the 1000, either. Catriona's doing a nice job with the colour for CBC, although if I hear one more reference about "working ice"... talk about grabbing a catchphrase and beating it to death. skategoat
Turns out Hedrick was never entered in the 500. But a fellow American took gold anyways. And Wotherspoon? Yet another disappointing Olympic result to add to his resume. I guess he's saving it for the 1000.
Neil Gendzwill
I don't understand why this guy chokes so much. I mean, it's not like he hasn't won a few big races before. Maybe he should talk to Catriona about grace under pressure.

My "bad" on misidentifying the race...... Team pursuit is tomorrow and Thursday..... I went to the local rink about 18 months ago and probably skated with Chad. There was only the 2 of us on the ice-I was in the middle practicing my front crossovers and he was on the edge, working out-I had never seen a guy with speedskate blades at that rink before and haven't seen him since
