Isolation plate skis

Looks like the design concept would be easily able to be transferred to a carving board. Photo of latest version appears to have different front vs. rear of plate mechanism for coping with ski bend and transferring lateral tilt to the ski. Might take off for racers in the speed events (downhill, SuperG) if FIS don't ban it!

So only a few yrs late to the scene here come isolation plate skis

Skiers were first (for once) with Derbyflex and Vist-style isolation plates.  I don't believe they have had more sophisticated Apex-style or Allflex-style plates before Allflex themselves made a version for skis.

Looks... stupidly heavy.  Like why even build it, heavy.

2.4 lbs per ski. (approx. 1.1 kg) according to the article.

Combined, that's as much as an Allflex Spring Plate, which I find prohibitively heavy for recreational use.
