softbootsurfer
Hard Snow...Spring conditions much like Racecourse conditions, salted and Hard Riding a SB set up on a 163 Flight attendant or getting a Kessler Race stick in the 175 180 range with HB...that's the thing, now that the Hero snow is gone, the equipment needed has changed...then again, Hero snow requires one Stick while Racing surfaces are typically way harder and so Effective edge needs to be boosted to make it happen...this is why when people offer advice here, they need to start with what the surface conditions are they are riding on...just a suggestion about post touting certain Sticks and set ups...Typically here in Colorado we have Hero surfaces for maybe 90% of the seasons available days...
scottishsurfer
I have everything from powder to hero to snowcrete to heavily contaminated indoor snow.... The indoor snow is possible the most difficult to ride because after an hour it turns to sand like ice crystals that you would think might ride a bit like powder but it is much more like sand. Unlike real snow it is impossible to make a snow ball from it doesn't compress and stick together. As a result you have two options ride light and don't push hard or snow will just start to move away from you and give way from under the board or ride as hard as possible and try and cut down to the base ice layer which will support the turn. Longer boards with the resultant longer effective edges tend to preform better as they displace the force over a slightly larger area but you are riding on a slope that's 150m so long boards aren't the most practical either.... It's pretty much snowboard purgatory not quite the heaven of a snow covered mountain but not hell snowless summer or dry slope either.
