ExcelsiorTheFathead
Here's a fun topic. Discuss. GENEVA (Reuters) - An international anti-doping commission recommended on Monday that Russia's Athletics Federation be banned from international competition over widespread doping offences, a move that could see the powerhouse Russian team excluded from next year's Rio Olympics. Russian sports minister Vitlay Mutko said there was no evidence for the accusations against the Federation. The commission, set up by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), found however a "deeply rooted culture of cheating" in Russian athletics. But it also identified what it called systemic failures in the global governing body, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). BlueB
Sounds like the political agenda is trickling into the sports events... again. Moscow 1980, anyone? Doping is widespread issue in professional sports, have no illusion about it. The top dopers are always one step ahead of the testers, in developing new techniques and masking agents. Many governing bodies choose to turn a half-blind eye, when possible, because of lots of money and prestige involved. Sometimes there are busts and public anouncements, when too much info already leaked to public, when an individual that stepped onto someone's toes has to be punished, or, like in this case, when it has to be used for global political agenda. michael.a
As no surprise to anyone, theyve been banned from competition. Quite shameful, and its only natural for the next step to involve rescinding suspect medals and accolades. Hoping that snowboarding was free of such corruption but honestly doubt it. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/11/13/sport/russia-iaaf-olympics-doping-report/index.html
