bigmike13
My frustration with the current crop of soft boot gear is pushing me toward a second attempt at making hardboots work again. I have size 11-11.5 4e width feet and could use advice on hardboots from those with paddle size feet

They seem to come up quite often on this forum. Failing HSP look for Dalbello Carve series. They are the same shell as HSP but have DIN soles. I picked up a pair of NOS off ebay for $50 for backup parts but used them for skiing instead. Blue B on here used to use them too. Others have said that UPZ are wide in the toebox but I don't find them particularly wider than average. I've got a D width foot and put an older Raichle thermoflex liner in there that takes up quite a bit of space. From what I've read they are wider than Deeluxe though. You could always get them punched too and get a lower volume liner. Hope that helps start the conversation and I'm sure others will chime in. icebiker
I have long feet, but narrow, so for me Deeluxe work well. But here's another post in favor of UPZ or Head... http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?39245-Wide
jp1
9.5 EEEEE here and love my Head Stratos . Back in the day when The Starting Gate stocked Hard Boots, I tried on every boot they had in my size, these fit me the best, so that's what I bought. leeho730
US7.5 with E width and a happy UPZ size 25, Head and Raichle size 24 customer. I recon Track 325 shell might be best? Of all boots I mentioned Raichle 24 seems to be the biggest... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bigmike13
I tried a pair of 09-10 325's, and they were too narrow, I have heard the head are prob my best bet, but harder to find and the upz have a wider toe box but can be pricey. This time around I'm looking for the best possible chance of getting my caveman feet into HB's without coughing up more cash on something that won't work. Any one use a wide atb ski boot to cure this problem?
Neil Gendzwill
I have punched out Raichles with thermo liners. My feet are anywhere from 2E to 4E depending on manufacturer.
big canuck
Plus one for HSP. I've tried them all (twice in some cases) Hands down the Heads fit my wide feet the best My $0.
bigmike13
Wish they still made the heads
Beckmann AG
If you are on a budget, go to a second-hand sports shop for a set of softish ski boots (not Tecnica), and have at it. If you decide that hardbooting is for you, find a set of Heads, along with a good bootfitter, and get to punching.

I'm about to get my UPZs punched out a little more...
