JKarve
Hey Guys, Does Sunshine have decent intermediate carving runs? JK
lowrider
Yes ! Sunshine has some nice runs. Very crowded on weekends. Lake Louise good also. Nakiska super crowded on weekends because it's closer to Calgary. Don't overlook Mt Norquay smaller runs but still big by Ontario standards. Norquay also a lot cheaper. Neil Gendzwill
Sunshine has good carving as long as it hasn't snowed recently and they have groomed. It's not primarily a groomer hill though. Take the Great Divide chair for some wide-open above the tree line carving. Off Goat's Eye, take Sunshine Coast all the way or split off into Wildfire. The liftline on Jackrabbit chair is labelled black but it's a super fun short carving run that is almost always groomed.
JKarve
Sounds great! Any specific recommendations for Lake Louise?
Neil Gendzwill
If you are riding the weekend or even Friday, be sure to get to the Lake early. Take the gondola and then flip over to the backside and get to Larch chair before everyone else gets organized to go there. There are a couple intermediate runs on that side that are really nice so long as you beat the crowds, the widest one skier's right of the lift is called Larch. Around the time the crowds start arriving, flip back to the frontside. Juniper and Meadowlark are nice, although Juniper can get pretty glazed and crowded as it's a major highway. Wiwaxy is a long, long green that is pretty blue in parts. If you get there early enough you can take a burn or two down Juniper before going to the back and still be OK to beat the crowds. If you want a challenge, when Ladies' Downhill is in good shape it's the best groomer on the hill but maybe you might find it too steep. Even more challenging is Men's Downhill, I'll give you a cookie if you can carve the upper section.
