Burton Race Plate cant

My son uses 02 and 01 Burton Race plates and it seems time that we use a cant on his back foot. Is there/has there ever been a 3 degree cant? The cants that came with Patrick's bindings were 6 degree cants and seem a little extreme fo a first cant. Any other suggestions?

In addition, what screws do I use to put on the 6 degree cant.....does it use the standard 12mm that I use for his bindings without the cant?

Thanks in advance.....this cant stuff is all new to me.

they made a few different ones

any idea ones they are?

Do they look like a slice of a cheese wheel?

if so they take hardware that is similar to the burton hardware just shorter

my adivice would be to go into your local snowboard shop with the deck and see if they will let you pick through their hardware

or a hardware store possibly would have something just be sure to get at least 3.5 turns I would try for four or five though

1. Yes, there was 2 models: 3.5 degrees and 7 degrees.

2. The cant is screwed to the board with 12 mm screws and the bindings are screwed to the cant or the board with 16 mm screws. Don't use 16 mm screws on the cant, you will bottom out and the cant will be loose.

During the mid 90's Burton made a 6" round cant in 3 & 6 degrees in either 3d or 4x4 as well as a larger (around 9") one for strap bindings. I used to buy them up when visiting new shops, but they're impossible to find now. Sold quite a few on the old forum, I've got one 6" 3deg 4x4 left and a few of the 7deg ergo cants. The new ergo cants came with changeable inserts, the older ones were fixed.

I've one of the fully adjustable cant/lift stayems that Burton included with their Race plates through the late '90s. It is comprised of two wedge-shaped discs that stack one upon the other, and offers much greater adjustability than the single piece plastic wedges that Burton once offered.

IMO body types and stance angles require far more adjustability than the one-size-fits-all approach that the wedges offer.

You're welcome to it for $13 plus shipping.

Let me know, best wishes, and have fun!

I've been looking all around for two cants, one for a Burton Alp (3 hole) and another for my stuf (4 hole). Both boards have Burton Carrier bindings.

I've seen mention of them here and in the Classified... if there are still some available I'd appreciate hearing!

Another question... does anyone know who makes (made) stuf snowboards? I found this one in Magog (great price!) but don't know anything about it other than it's fun to ride... (the stuf is the one on the left)

Thanks.

The last time I stopped at White Wolf all they had left was some of the vari-cants. I had picked up some of the old style round ones a few years ago. If anyone is looking for Burton boots in smaller sizes they still have quite a selection.
