Found my summer match to riding hardboots

Last summer I had the opportunity to try a modern stand up jet ski. What I can say is that it is the closest thing to hard booting in the summer that I have found. I have tried Mountain Boarding, Mt Biking, Long boarding, skate boarding, roller blading, wakeboarding, and more. Nothing comes as close as the stand up jet ski.

So this summer I made the leap and made some purchases, and I can honestly say it was totally worth it. The hang up in a turn on the modern design of the ski is just like alpine. I strongly suggest it for those people looking for the summer carving experience. It is also a little safer on the body than ripping asphalt.

i've got a '96 sea-doo wave runner. i haven't had it out in two years.

two years ago i had brought it in to leo's south for a tuneup. took it to breezy point. first ride out. got way out to the middle and the thing started handling funny. it wasn't planing right and the engine sounded strange. out in the middle the engine alarm went off. smoke started pouring out the sides. PHUCK! i was stuck in the middle of the lake trying to flag a boat. i couldn't stand on it and it was damn near sinking. a pontoon boat rescued me. got it to the boat launch and opened the seat. water was up to the top of the engine.

turned out the technician had broken a fitting for cooling the engine. i was abso-phucking-lutely pissed! i had a problem in '98 when i had my engine rebuilt because of water intake. once water gets into the crank, its $1800. i took it back to leo's and they fixed. up until then i had high regard for leo's. i've been leary of taking it out and discovering yet another problem. i like the hull design of my wave runner. its great for turning,,spinning shi!tties, and getting air. the new models are too big. the bombardier engines... meh. i've heard dealers abandoning bombardier. some got tired of customer complaints.

i've thought about trading mine in and getting a standup. where did you pick it up?

what lake? (hint hint)

a friend has a yamaha wave runner... i think 2000-ish model. it literally handles like a boat. can't get air on it (he thinks he does). what cracks me up is that there's a warning on the boat.

they said the "V" word.

Normally I am at Lake McCarron on Rice and Larpenter. It is a nice lake and is almost always empty. I purchased the brand new one from Tousley, but I was not impressed with them and I will never go there for servicing it. I do all the work on my skis. The other 2 that I have were craigslist finds.

Definitely make the change to a stand up. It is totally different than other PWCs. They are all like boats, and this is more like a wakeboard with a motor. If you want to give it a try before you pick one up, I would be more than happy to let you rip mine around and explain some of the ins and outs that I have figured out so far.

It is actually great in the courses. I have seen videos of it. This video is of me ripping some turns on it and you can tell how fun it would be.
