snowboardfast
Winter Park ski train will not be operating for this season at all. Anyone know why? I was hoping to go on it on a Sunday to avoid the traffic problem.
Pat Donnelly
http://www.skitrain.com/ "History" will tell you why.
pebu
For those of you not interested in looking The Ski Train made is final run to Winter Park on March 29, 2009 The Ski Train equipment has been sold to Algoma Central Railway Inc., a subsidiary of Canadian National Railway. The Ski Train has operated at a consistent loss over 21 years. Profitability had never been the controlling issue with the Ski Train. However, more recently it had faced additional, serious challenges including, escalating costs - particularly liability coverage; operational conflicts with freight traffic, substantial uncertainties posed by redevelopment of Denver's Union Station; as well as long-term impacts resulting from the nation's economic crisis in 2009. Regrettably, the Ski Train could no longer be operated under these conditions. Thanks Denver for 69 years!
lowrider
There used to be a train to Banff in the Canadian rockies to get to ski resorts.Trains from Montreal to resorts north of that city. That stopped many years ago. Now we have the joy of driving on excellent roads with Tim Horton coffee shops on every corner no need for hot chocolate on the hill! Even if the trains were still running chances are I couldn't afford them anyway. Sorry for you loss!
Kimo
Too expensive. Any time I got the urge to ride that train, I realized the privilege would cost 12 or more times putting 4 people in a car and driving.
Fastskiguy
Really a shame that mass transit is more expensive than just driving...but I guess that's just how it goes. I wish I could have ridden on it once.
davekempmeister
didn't it get to the mountain late? like 10:30 A.M. or something? that's why some discouraged me from taking it in the past, aside from the cost.
