How can you compare objective/measurable levels, like WC/Olympic, with fully subjective self-assessment ?

Easy, if you have raced on the World Cup or have been in the Olympics then you can check that if you have not you are not at that level.

Yes ! Also, you can race the WC or the Olympics and still be in the average or even suck in your own opinion.

This is a pretty interesting point...

I raced Finn sailing dinghy in the Gold Cup (World Championship), and a 30' keel boat around half of the globe, but don't consider myself a Master Sailor. Sometimes I plain suck...
