Frenchy_in_SD
Hi ! I've already ask in the other thread, but had to make a separate thread. I'm going to Mammoth from the 7th to 11th and I'm looking for some help on board setup and carving techniques (paybacks in Rum if necessary). Also, does Mammoth has some good carving instructors, I might take a class on saturday afternoon to get back onto the board after 2 years off the slopes. Hey John
Mammoth has one instructor that teaches carving in hardboots. Call the ski school and ask for Mladen Janev, better known as "MJ". Very knowledgeable and very technical. He has taught snowboard racing in the past. This would be a private lesson, not a class (i.e. $$$). Try to reserve as early as you can, as his time may end up being booked by someone else. When you reserve, be sure to insist on hardboot instruction, as they are not used to this type of request. Hey John
John, did you take a lesson with MJ? How'd it go? Yes, it was a two or three hour lesson. It went very well overall, but we may have tried to cover too much for one lesson and I think I got information overload. But then it's hard for me to evaluate as I've never had a private lesson like this before.
Loc
Thanks for the info, John. Hope we can ride together soon. Nothing like two noobs trying to do synchronized carving Didier, if you're at June on Sunday look for me on the J4 lift where Gunsmoke is. I wear an orange jacket so it's pretty easy to spot me.
