  2. I got a parachute to sell you !!! That will slow you down enough, I think. or you may lift up and let you fly above the straight liners trying to slam into you.
  3. Why two skalls?!? just because you didn’t know which one to pick? lol
  4. Hello, I’m thinking of going to the Club Med Charlevoix next winter. How are the trails for carving? How’s the club Med for carvers? Do they have carving boards and instructors ? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated! Merci d’avance.
  5. Yesterday, Chair 7 at Snow Summit, the chair guy sees my board and says: “wow a monoski!”. After explaining it was an alpine snowboard, he kept saying it was too narrow for a snowboard. But he said it was the coolest snowboard he saw. Board is a Donek FC1 171cm from 20 years ago!! Made for Bomberonline.com Later at the same chair lift, I heard someone saying it was a “Slalom ski”
  6. Hi Slopestar, is the instructor giving hard boots classes in Mammoth all season? If so, could I get a contact address? i may go there in the coming months, not sure of the dates yet. I badly need some heavy inputs on my position and ride. I’m a beginner with 20 years riding hard boots (once every 10-15 years…). Blue sky Regards.
  7. stupid question…. where to buy a kit? Deelux model just saying Regards, D
  8. I read this article yesterday. Sounds like your lack of groom is the new normal in Vail.... https://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-adventure/snow-sports/vail-resorts-record-ski-passes-overcrowding/
  9. The medals ceremony is done the evening on the "medal plaza" where they receive the real medals. The mini panda is just for a mini ceremony on the slopes. But some events do have their medals ceremony onsite when their location is too far away from the main athletes village. It did happen in previous Olympics too. Regards, D.
  10. Today at Snow Summit. lift guy at chair 7: “Cool monoski” me: “nope that’s a snowboard” lift guy thought for a few seconds and and mumbled something about the boots angles as the chair left… mind you it was more skidding than carving…. Sadly
  11. Great morning at Summit. Barely anyone on the 7 chair. still cannot carve! Can’t figure out the position of the bindings if too forward or back. board is Donek FC1 171cm Quote of the day for the lift guy working chair 7: cool monoski! lol
  12. Going to Snow Summit 01/31 to 02/02. Beginner/Intermediate rider Would love to get some advices on my riding. Will be out with my wife who's on ski....
  13. I say, build a new rack with 11 spots for boards, then tell the wife you have an empty space therefore you have to buy an extra board to fill it.... Just saying. Stay safe D. PS. You did say it was too narrow....
  14. Started in France in early 90s, hardboots setup was the only available. Did it sparingly for a few years before moving to the USA. I was impressed seeing the first carvers and what looked like the first ECs Got back on it 13 years ago and looked for HB there as I wasnt interested in skidding in softboots. I've always remembered the carvers in the french alps... Bought a Donek FC171 on Ebay and tried to figure it out myself, sprained my ankle bad, stopped for 12 years ( life happened too...). I still love the board anyway... Went back a few weeks ago and loved it all over again, so I came back to bombersonline... I mean alpinesnowboard.com. I did pound my sacrum on a hard fall on my last day, but still want more. Next year, I will go to Mammoth or a big mountain west and find an instructor to help me out. PS. I'm a Caribbean boy, was windsurfing and sailing early on, discovered the white funny stuff at 18... Still scared of the slopes, and the water is softer than snow/ice when I fall, but will go back on the slopes. Freezing temperatures is a pain compared to complaining when the water temperature dropped below 78 in the winter. The feeling in the turns reminds me of some good jibes and days on the water sailing.
  15. Hi ! I've already ask in the other thread, but had to make a separate thread. I'm going to Mammoth from the 7th to 11th and I'm looking for some help on board setup and carving techniques (paybacks in Rum if necessary). Also, does Mammoth has some good carving instructors, I might take a class on saturday afternoon to get back onto the board after 2 years off the slopes. Blue sky Didier
  16. Arclite, I was going to Summit 2 years ago, but this year has been really tight on money. Mammoth is more a splurge of the moment. I did see your thread on Summit, and wish I was there. Also, I'm looking into maybe take a class on saturday afternoon if there is a good instructor in Mammoth (not too expensive, but I have no clue what are the rates nowadays) Blue sky, Didier
  17. I will be there from the 7th to the 11th !! It's been 2 years since I last rode a board and need some help ! Are there any good samaritan who can help me with the board setting and my carving techniques ?? I can offer some Rum in return... Didier
  18. You guys are killing me.... Why are you going during the week ?? I'm an office worker, I cant leave during the week... got only my weekends... sniff sniff I will try to hit the slopes of Summit on Feb 9th. if weather permit. Blue sky Didier
  19. I'm not a pro, but do it for fun in 4-way RW. I'm taking this year off as it cost a lot to train. This saturday should have been just a fun competition (10-way speed). My avatar is me exiting a skyvan in Perris. Blue sky Didier
  20. Hi ! Thanks you Darkclone. After the cancelation of saturday skydiving competition I decided not to go but was not able to say it online. Saturday weather should have been bed, but from Temecula it looked like it was a beautiful day to skydive or carve the slopes. It will be for another time.... Blue sky Didier
  21. Jack, Not sure how much it would be but if you win Powerball why not buy Sugarloaf instead ??? :D:D:D And make it carver friendly.... Anyway, great view from the house. And huge place compared to real estate in southern CA... Blue sky Didier
  22. Hi Jack ! What are the specs of this gem ? Will you make it carvers friendly ? :) Blue sky Didier
  23. Hi ! I'm thinking of going to Summit this coming sunday, anybody going to be there ?? Blue sky Didier
  24. I was too slow.... Jack got it right before me. As Jack said, better have the picture right the first time instead of trying to fix it in post processing (digital or on paper). I use to underexpose my films when I was shooting indoor basketball and volleyball in college (B&W) and then correct the exposure while printing the pics. When the over/underexposure is low you dont loose too much details, but if the over/underexposure is too big, you will loose in details and contrast. Blue sky Didier
  25. Gecko, Camera are calibrated to a standard grey for light level by default. When a camera sees a lot of white, it will underexpose to try to get to a level of light correct from it's calibration. Similarly if there is a lot of black in the picture, the camera will try to overexpose to compensate the black. That's why you want to overexpose your snow pictures so you can really see white snow instead of grey. In general, processing machines will automatically compensate when develloping your pics on paper. Underexposure is really visible with slides as they dont have much lattitude in exposure. As for digital pics, you can always use photoshop to brighten your pics and get back to a normal level of lighting with snow pics. Blue sky Didier
