Matt888
Hi folks, I'm new around here, first thread... I started snowboarding on a slalom board years ago with hard bindings & hard boots. Switched to a boardercross 7-8 years ago: Hot Fireball 161 with soft bindings Burton P1 Carbon & soft boots Salomon Malamute, which in my opinion are the hardest soft combination you can find, unless anyone has better experiences? My board is delaminating and needs to be replaced. I'm looking for a Burton board only cause I can get great conditions on these. What would be the ideal Burton Freecarve/Boardercross board, I'm mainly looking for a board which gives good stability at high speed, great carving handling and good floating on deep snow? I'm 6'04 feet (1.84m) high, wheigh 198 pounds (90kg) and got size 44 (Eu size) Malamutes (which is too big on my current board;-)). Looking forward to your reply's. Thanks a lot for your help!:D Matt
boarderboy
Burton doesn't really make a boardercross model now. But the T6 is stiff, comes in a wide, and is well-regarded by some dedicated carvers. Other possibility is the SuperModel, or the Supermodel X, though it (the X) doesn't come in a wide size. Good luck!
Matt888
Thanks for your reply Boarderboy. I'm definitively looking for a wide board since I'm tired of toe or heel out's... I've been reading some Burton topics on this forum, not a lot of enthousiastics apparently:rolleyes: I must admit that I'm also looking at a F2 Eliminator 163W / 168W or a F2 Vantage 166 (but I guess this one will be too narrow with it's 228 waist width)... JK moscraciun
+1 for the F2 eliminator! stiff, very fast base (comes handy on flats), quality construction you can get a good deal for the last year model(Black)/ look for the WC edition! philfell
Not much SBX stuff from Burton. Most of their riders on custom Custom X's. If you are serious about SBX I'd look at other companies such as Oxcess, SG, Kessler, Volkl.
BlueB
I've seen some recent Burton prototypes. Very interesting stuff. Can't say more then that right now.

I'm not a carver, just a freerider, but I find the T6 is great for ripping groomers and is very nice in powder. It is a Ferrari ... so be prepared to rip on it as it really doesn't like to go that slow... Don't take it in the woods... you'll hate yourself for it! I've just called a local board shop who sells F2 surf and snow gear, well apparently, used to... They didn't buy any new 2009 gear due to factory problems. Apparently F2 went bankrupt, sold out their company and is now in hands of a new owner who plans to sell the complete snow dept. The importer for The Netherlands/Belgium stopped working with F2, it's now a factory agent for this area. So no 2009 F2 boards available in Belgium for the moment... The store suggested Nidecker Boardercross boards such as the Proto, Megalight or Ultralight boards. Who knows these boards? Any thoughts on Nidecker? mr_roboteye
If you can find a salomon freeride speed from a few years ago they are wicked fast and very stiff. I don't remember how wide they were though. later, Dave R.
Mike T
They were in the low 24's at the waist. They also had a sidecut that tightened quite a bit as you go back, which I didn't care for personally.
JJFluff
I give the T6 a vote. It's a great board. You may find some bias towards Burton from a lot of posters on this forum, but it's a great board.
