Rob Stevens Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 Hey Billy: I see on your hardbooter.com website that you have Nidecker Carbon 900's for sale. Are they as good as the C16's? Are they full carbon? I just bought a pair of C60's and I'm bummed... Very flexy compared to the 14's and 16's. I'll order them if you say they're as good. Quote
bobdea Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 they are stiffer by a long shot........... does not mean they are any better or even as good depending on what you want. better if you're trying to turn a tanker 200 or a doughboy on hardpack probably. Quote
Rob Stevens Posted December 30, 2007 Author Report Posted December 30, 2007 Bob: Which is stiffer? Quote
bobdea Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 unless it's different this year the c60 is softer compared to the 900 the 900 is a rigid bastard, probably as supportive as I've been on other than the original catek FR pro that does not translate to better though I am very partial to burton bindings when appropriate if I want light I go burton Quote
Rob Stevens Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 Other than trying to find used pairs of C14 - 16 - Pre 06 60's on the electroweb, which has been tough, I am going to order the 900's. The Cateks look a bit much and despite the cutaway heel on the Phiokkas which is a good idea, those look over the top, too. Thanks for the words... I'll take my chances with the greater stiffness. Maybe I'll pad the highback a bit more to cut down on some harshness. Quote

Rob Stevens Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 How tall are you and how much do you weigh? Quote
zoltan Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 You might also want to consider the Ride SPi and Ride CAD. Quote
Rob Stevens Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 I looked at the Rides, but found that the highbacks were too short. By an inch or so, compared to the Burtons. Having said that, I don't know how tall the Nideckers are as I have never seen them beside the Burtons. I have long legs and the highback height is important to me. Quote
Neil Gendzwill Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Is the new Act 1 Carbon the same as the 900? From the side view there it looks like it's pretty high. Quote
Rob Stevens Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 Thanks for that link Neil. They're not really on it over there at Nidecker. Their text describing the features of it are pretty confusing. they talk about "Base" and go on to list features of the highback, when "Highback" has a column of its own. The part I'm missing is if the baseplate is carbon too. It looks more like plastic in the picture. Does the 900 have a carbon baseplate? I don't see it in their list of soft binders... Has it been replaced by this Act 1 model? Quote
