  1. What I ended up doing last night was going to Summit Ski and Snowboard in Danvers and they are going to enlarge my boot as well as the liner a bit. They are also putting in foot beds so I hope it works out. Its costing me about $50 so I hope it'll be worth it. I tried the thinner socks and even no sock at all, it wasn't wide enough for me as well as the length was off by half a centimeter which caused slight discomfort. The moment i strap in though, the pressure of the big toe is a great deal less. Thanks for all your. You guys are awesome!
  2. lol. Its almost cheaper to get a round trip off season to pick up a board:biggthump
  3. What about money orders? cashier checks? checks?
  4. I use a Lowe Alpine basic backpack. I cant find a picture of it but it does not come with a hydration pack. I use a small hydration pack from EMS that is small enough to fit under the back pack. Its not bad, but for a day of skiing, it sometimes gets in the way. I usually carry food, extra water, and my mp3 player in there. Most times, i don't even realize that its on.
  5. ya i'm defintly not doing the oven thing. I wish there was a store around me that sold alpine boots... I'll walk around with them on all night tongiht. btw, One finger fits behind my heel.
  6. Well when i just put on the liners, it feels really tight, like my toes will fall asleep after 20 min. When i put the boot on, the pressure is slightly less. The boots are mondo size 26, i believe. when i step on a ruler, i measure about 26.25-26.5ish. I can't really make my foot bed arch because I am somewhat flat footed and I'm pretty sure it will cause more discomfort. I love these boots and defintly want to keep them. My other idea is to try to get thinner liners. btw, these are the boots I can supposedly stretch them for $30-60 at my ski shop but I don't know if its worth it.
  7. can u hold them for me till monday? I am going to try my boots out on sunday. Im thinking mine are a bit tight so i'll try a size up. I will let you know sunday night.
  8. I think the tryptophan has settled in. Now time for some quality late night tv.
  9. I recieved my burton Winds the other day and my toes are a little cramped in the Liners. Are the liners i have safe for the oven for a few minutes to stretch them out?
  10. happy thanksgiving. May everyone have a happy and safe holiday season. Gleb Budilovsky and Family Topsfield, Massachusetts
  11. I also noticed how similar my snowblade bindings are to my board's. I asked the same question but snowblade bindings didnt seem sturdy enough at all.
  12. well i guess i'm starting this weekend. I guess the alpine seed was implanted in my brain many moons ago, about '97, i played Cool Boarders 2 on the playstation and i just loved going fast. I believe that had Burton Alpine boards. Anyways, I was looking for a new challenge after skiing and I ran into extremecarving.com. Maybe before that I saw a general alpine website. I placed a bid on ebay for an Oxygen Proton, lost, then placed a bid on a Burton UP. Found Bomber, now i'm off to the slopes after turkey day. The real draw for me was that i discovered that you can use ski boots. Then I discovered that my ski boots would not do so i bought some here. I'm now lock and loaded!
  13. I skied twice in 1993-4 then when i got my licence and car 3 years ago, i went all out. I skied any chance I could. I skiied Tuckerman's Ravine and I am also able to do any terrain on the East Coast (Thats not really saying much). My only problem is that, yes I can go down any East coast mountain, but I have the worst form ever. Now I'm transfering over to plates and I can't wait. I'm going for my first time this Sunday. I also ski on snoblades (100 cm skies) and those are a blast! I'm just worried about finding time for it all. Whatever you choose to do, just make sure you rent gear first before you throw hundreds of dollars into something you might not like. Since no mountains that I'm aware of in my area rent carving boards and boots, I just jumped right in. I know I'll love it because of the money I spent.
  14. I asked my friends the same exact question. Its probably because the guy's voice just makes you think, "wow, we gotta see that movie because of that guy's voice." Or probably because it sounds official and he has some outragously huge contract with the movie industry. Actually I just got a thought. I think all major motion picture trailers are edited by the same company. Just a hunch.
  15. I'm almost 100% sure that most modern midgrade gps units take elevation into consideration, especially waas enabled ones. We should have a test and compare.
  16. I don't care much for the color and I only really need it for speed and altitude and $250 is a bit pricier than i would want.
  17. I am looking to get a basic gps unit that will tell me the speed, altitude and elevation. That is all i need. Which unit would be most cost effective for me to get? Does anyone have any that are in good condition for around $100?
  18. WOW only $250!!! I got a $430 ticket for doing 53 in a 30 in a construction zone. The fine was doubled but that means that i wouldve had only a $215 for going 23 over. that was in MA. In NH, you kill someone and get a $20 fine for disturbing the peace. Gotta love New Hampshire.
  19. while skiing, always use a regular leedom helmet. The venting is pretty good and its warm when i need it. Unless you're doing some crazy dense forest back country riding, going ridiculously fast, or ur just all over the place, I don't think a full face helemt is neccessary. I might get one eventually if the right deal comes along. full face helemts seem kind of cumbersome.
  20. i might be in okemo on sunday after thanksgiving, the 26th. I'll set my radio to 5-12 aswell. Hopefully i'll meet some of you guys so someone can show me where to get started with carving.
  21. wow those look pretty good. I had no clue deals like that actually were that common. Which one of those mountains are best to learn to carve on?
  22. At Sunday River, the run "White Heat" would be perfect for a speed trial. That is only if you have the balls to do it. Ridiculous.
  23. Speed is what really made me want to go into alpine boarding. When i gain some experience, I will try for some of those speeds. For now, my fastest on skis is near 55. nothing special but fun nonetheless.
