Might be interested in the Donek... how would you rate the flex on it and how forgiving is it?
Thanks in advance Dave D
Dave, I don't find it to be super stiff. I think its pretty friendly for a SL board. It was easier to ride than the F2 SL 163 that I had before. Its a little
wider too which worked better for my big feet.

What size boots do they wear? My ski patrol has a bunch of used kids soft boots from a ski swap. I could probably grab you a couple pairs.
Good luck with the events to come. I suspect there are still some very frustrating and painful times ahead of you. Try to stay positive and take the high road. Being able to look yourself in the mirror and know that you did the right thing goes a long way. I've done it myself, it wasn't always easy, I took a significant financial loss but in the end I know I did everything I could. I'm recovering financially and I can sleep at night.

Glad someone could use it. I checked out my bindings last night. They are Fischer FX12's. Max DIN is 12.
You are correct on the 21 mm stack height. Dredman showed some interest in them so he's got first dibs.
Otherwise they are still available.

BTW, I have a pair of Fischer FX12 bindings, new in the box that should fit
the hole pattern on the P02 plate. I'll check to make sure. If anyone is interested I'll sell them for $60 shipped.

She's told me quite a few times that "I need to learn to be happy without her".
That's the truth, If you can't be happy with yourself you will have a hard time being happy in any relationship. I was with my first wife for 13 years, 9 of that we were married. I tried like hell to keep the marriage together at the end but it was too little too late. She wanted a divorce and no matter how much I cared or loved her, she had made up her mind and moved on. It really tore me up and I didn't think things would ever be right again. I spent the summer getting to know myself again, reconnecting with real friends, doing what I wanted. Everyone noticed the difference. I got tons of comments on how much happier I seemed. People who I've known for years welcomed the "old" me back.
Everything happens for a reason. In the fall of that year I really got to know a person who I knew for several years but always just had a casual friendly relationship with. We were married this past June and I can tell you that its a totally different and more satisfing relationship than I've ever had.
What I'm getting at it is, yes this sucks now, but it can be better. Its going to hurt to cut those ties. Use the pain as a lesson learned. You deserve better.

Just my $.02 here, but I think the older stiffer boards will probably benefit.
I was wondering about this too. I have an older Volkl RT 183 GS that I've always found to be a bit stiff. For my riding abilities it is a real handful on our narrow Mid Atlantic runs. If a plate would effectively soften the board it would probably keep me from selling it.

I wonder why they're using springs in that system? Seems like it would modify the flex of the ski?
I have seen ski bindings on the hill that look basically like they are doing the same thing as what our plates are doing. The binding basically rides on two axles - fixed pivot under the heel, sliding or rolling under the toe. Can't think of what brand it was at the moment.
Jack, I think Salomon used that system on the Scream 10 Pilot and some others. I can't find a good picture of it though. It had a plate with a pinned connection on both ends. The binding was mounted on top of that.

This year we have 16 paid Holidays on the calendar. I get 14hrs/month of annual leave, so 21 days. We can carry over 240 hrs/year. Also get 12hrs/month of sick leave with unlimited carry over hours. Its a pretty good deal. I work in state gov and it helps make up for the lower pay scale.
In 4 years I'll go to the max 16hrs/month annual, sick stays the same.

I've got a matching pair, missing one toe lever! I'll send them to you if you pay for shipping.

I've been patrolling on a Donek Axis (Axxess) 177 for about 4 seasons now. Its a stock board and I find it to be very versitile on our little 1000' vert hill. Carves well but will skid a turn easily when needed, floats in pow, good in crud, goes switch without burying the tail. Its a little tricky in tight trees and moguls (randomly sized, icy bumps formed mostly by out of control boy scouts) but some of that is lack of skill on my part. I don't hesitate taking it anywhere. I have a GS and SL board as well but 90% of my time is on the Axis. I'll replace it with a custom metal Axxess in the next year or two.

ZetaTre, what Newcarver says about mountain-top removal being less labor intensive than traditional coal mining is EXACTLY correct.
And BTW, I didn't realize it was anybody's 'rightful' JOB to rip the heart out of mountains....what type of respect is THAT showing to the land?
You seem utterly brainwashed by the diatribes of the ultra-right. But there IS a remedy for that....it is called thinking for yourself. Excuse me for being slightly brusk, but I just got back from the TGR forum and it takes me a little while to change back to a normal human being. ;)
My sister and brother in law are both consulting geologists in southern WV with 2 masters in geology and a masters in mining engineering between them. We were having a discussion about mountain top removal practices the other day that was quite interesting. Its more complicated than most can imagine.
My sister has hiked both the AT and PCT, both are truely in love with the mountains. You can see the struggle in their heads when they talk about MTR. They have been in the homes of the people who live in these areas, they have talked to the poorest of the poor and the wealthiest mine owners. They see the dilemma of balancing environmental degradation, job loss, money moving outside the state, national energy costs up close and personal every day.
According to them, the coal seams that are being mined by MTR are NOT mineable by "traditional" underground mining. The seams are too short and in a lot of cases not in suitable surrounding material to support deep mines. That being said the geographic area where MTR is a viable extraction method is fairly limited. I can't even pretend to understand all of the variables involved. The group of us talked for nearly two hours and it was one of the most interesting and frank discussions I've heard on the subject.
In a world where MTR is a reality, my sister and BIL both want to see better reclamation practices, not only for coal but also in the oil and gas industry.

Lifts start spinning at Timberline in WV around 7:15 for me (patrol).
Public starts loading at 8 am during the regular season and 9 am
during early/late season. 9:30 close for night skiing, 4:30 pm otherwise.
Honestly I prefer the 9 am opening. It gives me an extra hour to sleep
in/recover from the previous night!
