  1. 08/09 Deeluxe Track 700's in mondo 29. Standard heels, liners baked once, red Bomber replacement toe pads, usually scuffs from 1.5 seasons wear.

I had these mounted with BTS and somewhere along the way the 5 position lean adjusters disappeared. They will come with the standard 1 position adjuster.

  2. wvrocks, do you know the opening date of Timberline?

They are saying December 17. Probably with White Lightning from the top and Whiteout from mid station. And the bunny hill if you are looking for a challenge. Forecast isn't looking great for Wed/Thurs with some rain and temps in the upper 40's but they should be able to get some snow made this week.

  3. I am about to place an order for a Donek Freecarve Metal - not sure what size to order (171 or 175). I do most of my boarding in Northern Michigan (550 vertical feet) on hard-pack/icing conditions, however I do take a trip out West once a year. I am approximately 6'2" and 205 pounds. It has been sometime since I have been on a hard-boot carving board set-up, but I am a proficient skier and snowboarder (soft boot set-up). Would like to purchase the 175 size board for stability and perhaps increased edge control, however since I do most of my skiing on a smaller hill with heavy traffic, I may need to compromise to the smaller size - 171.

Is the difference between the 171 and 175 that material? Any advice??

    Thanks

I didn't see if you are planning on ordering a stock board from Bomber or have you been talking directly to Sean at Donek? If you haven't talked to Sean, pick up the phone and give him a call. The price is the same but Sean can customize the board to your size, riding style and needs.

  4. The carving is pretty good here. We have about 5-10 hardbooters on the hill most weekends. Lifts are slow and I'd avoid holiday

weekends but we have some fun carving runs and decent steeps. We also have some nice tree riding if you are into that and conditions allow.

Send me a message if you decide to come up. I can hook you up with lift tickets and possibly a place to stay.

  5. Awesome! We are still a couple weeks away at Timberline in WV. I'm hoping to make it down your way this season. My wife's grandfather has a place near Newland that we are free to use. I've been there several times in the summer but really looking forward to seeing it in the winter.

  6. Would this board be appropriate for a 150 pound, 6ft, male trying to get into racing?

I can't really say for sure. The last time I was 150 lbs was probably the 5th grade! I'm 6'3" and 245 and I find it to be a fairly stiff board. That being said, I only have my stock Donek Axis and a Prior BX board to compare it too. Maybe someone else will chime in on its suitability for lighter riders. I would suspect it would be ok for a strong rider/racer even if they were lighter in weight.

  7. While they will probably work with the buckle type binding I'd avoid the shorty skis altogether. The biggest reason is non-releasable bindings. I've seen far too many broken tib-fibs with snow blades.

Modern skis are pretty easy to use so don't limit yourself with the snowblades. You could probably pick up a used set of boots and skis at a ski swap for $100-200. There's one coming up at Alpine Ski Shop in Sterling on Nov 5-6.

Sure you have to haul two pairs of gear to the hill but you won't be compromising the performance of either. You could put softie bindings on your alpine deck so you could ride the same boots on you Jib deck but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't even consider that.
