  1. Hey, i am in the bay right now, i am leaving for copper on friday. My boot is a size 26. Elite Feet is selling heads, that is where i am getting mine. Give christian a call and he'll hold a pair for you. If the timing works out for you i would be stoked to try your heads or find a stiffer tounge. I'll send you a email with my phone number, but thanks a lot dude. -Rob
  2. I have a little bit of a problem, I ordered some new boots a while ago (a couple months) from head through a local shop. THe boots are not going to be here in time for the copper RTTC. So, i am going to have to use my boots from last year which are pretty soft, Deeluxe Lemans. Is there any way to stiffen them up a little bit. I was thinking about a booster strap, is it worth it, or should i just deal with the boots for this race and then switch to the heads after the race? -Rob
  3. I know people here probably wont like this but: I used to run TD-1s and recently switched to Burton Race plates at the advice of a teammate. My riding chaned a lot, for the better, i couldnt flex the TDs at all and the burtons all me to have more control. I know the TDs are amazing bindings and i am keeping them until i weigh a little more and can ride with them. I guess it is just preference in the end though...
  4. I am 15, 16 in December and have been riding Vokl Renn Tigers for the past 4 years, this year i got a custom prior for GS racing and am going to continue to ride a Vokl Sl board. The renn tigers are awsome and great to learn on because you can find them cheap, don't only look for a new board, i bought both my vokls used from people I knew and they work great, the SL board is going on 7 years old, maybe more, and it still is awsome. Edit: i weigh 145 now, but 3 years ago i was around 100
  5. While I love riding plates and racing GS and SL, i ride softies a lot more and my favorite event is boardercross. I ride an Atomic Dreamraider for BX, it kicks ass, unbeleivable board. It holds an edge on anything and is also good in the powder and trees. I rode malamutes last year and am going to get drivers this year, I like the soft boots because they do flex and provide a more comfortable ride, especially when you are landing an air, or riding in chop. I think it is mostly preference though, my coach rides hard boots on everything and is great at it, but i definitely cant ride my hardboots in powder.
  6. On a bike, bonking is when your body runs out of carbs, sugar, and any protein. You feel like ****, really tired and it is hard to see and stuff like that. For working out, i run almost every day and road and mountain bike on weekends. I try to lift weights every day, but work the same muscle groups in a row or even only after a days rest. So i alternate between upper body, lower body, and then rest. Abs are supposed to be an every day workout as well.
  7. Nate Holland won his second world cup yesterday in Saas-Fee switzerland! Hell yea, all the way to the olympics... http://www.usskiteam.com/public/news_snowboard.php?&dId=7&aId=169
  8. Go to USSA.org and then click on the snowboard section, go to competitions, 05-06 RTTC series, and then on the bottom right of the page there is a link to the online registration. It turned out my computer just glitched and i had to reregister.
  9. Hey, I tried to register yesterday for the Copper Mountain Race to the Cup. After giving all the payment info and whatnot, then pressing continue, it just said shopping cart is empty. I think the payment stuff was the last step but i'm not sure. Has anybody else done this yet and if they have did they get somewhere else after the payment page. Rob Also, i didnt get a confirmation email or anything like that.
  10. It is true, they are searching for a new venue right now. Hopefully somewhere with good weather unlike last year!
  11. dude, bomberonline has the sickest boardsleeve i have ever seen! Check it out on their store. I would either get that or try and make one out of the same material and same closure system.
  12. Yea, i sent her an email about 30 minutes ago, but thanks.
  13. I heard that boardercross was cut from the Oregon Grand Prix even though it still says it on the website. If you try to sign up they tell you that they are trying to reschedule the bx event earlier in the year, probably to have the olympic team set before January. I just found this out a few hours ago so please, if you've heard different correct me.
  14. Yea, this'll be my 5th year on the squaw team riding with Mort. I think i know you, chuck right? If so, i was in that house a couple years back at nationals in Angel Fire with mort and garret. I'll pry see you at the RTTC at Copper. Klug gets a lot of media but it doesn't really seem to have any effect on anybody. He was huge at the 02 Olympics.
  15. I have a friend who was going to Jr Worlds last year for SBX and wasnt able to go due to the switch of dates. I know a couple people that missed out, ones that had a very good chance of podiuming, (i am talking about boardercross). I turned 15 at the beginning of last season and started racing in FIS races. I had fun, and I am definitely racing this year again. But, i have never even heard of project gold and didnt know there was ever a USSA junior championships. One of the guys I ride with talks about the USSA development programs when he was a kid and compares them to USASA, he says there is no comparison there, USSA was far better when they did it. So, if they were to make a series of Junior events, for all disciplines, I think it would give kids a platform to leap from, I really enjoyed switching to FIS racing because of the competition, but a lot of my friends would rather have a USSA junior alternitive to USASA, and that'd be awsome.
  16. I have been skating a little this summer, but i love the feel of carving at speed. The skateboard does help pumping, it really really helps boardercross training i think. THe landyachtz is sick, i was looking at the 9 ply evo with randalls and gumballs but again, the loaded looks like more of a carver. I may be wrong though.
  17. After going to the local shop and riding a vanguard around I think i have narrowed it down the the Vanguard and the Dragonfly. I am guessing that there aren't any places in the bay area to ride the dragonfly around but it does look really sick and well built. It looks very comparable to the vanguard.
  18. What are you favorite boards that feel similar to a snowboard. I like the Tahoe Talmont 52, but don't own anything other than a small cruiser right now, any suggestions towards good boards? Thanks Rob
  19. props to Adam Smith for podiuming at the first WC of the year. They said, on the US snowboard site, the indoor hills are kinda tricky compared to normal outdoor slopes. Good luck to Chris, Adam, and all the other Americans racing at the GS in Sweden next week...
  20. Yes, you will probably need a wider board if you want to run slacker angles. I would check out the prior website for used stuff too. THey have a lot of used WCRs and 4WDs laying around for a lot less than list price.
  21. Hey, I went over this all last year with my coaches and a physical therapist. I am 15 so around the same age as your son. Every third day I plymometric lunges, squats, and jacks. these are incredibly hard and do not require any weights or any special equipment. They increase your muscles ability to explode out of turns and tucks. Also, I do wall sits every day, usually while watching tv or something to keep my mind of the sit. Calf raises while brushing teeth, about a 100, then a 100 later on it the day as well. Also doing crunches everynight before you go to sleep is good. Also, try to do a hamstring excercise in their to balance out legs. These are all very good but my favorite dry-land activites funwise are mountain biking and longboarding. biking builds quads and calfs and endurance, while longboarding simulates (or close to) the feel of a snowboard working some of the same muscles. Good luck -Rob
  22. Holy ****, if they open soon i am defininetely making a trip down there asap...sweeeet :D
  23. I had TD-1 step ins for a while and they were awsome. I switched away from them because the all metal binding was just to stiff for me. They do seem way more secure though, there is more than just a single lever holding your leg in.
  24. i think boreal is going to be opening pretty early this year, at least its something. I am kinda worried as squaw and those mountains do not have a scheduled opening yet, and the RTTC at copper is thanksgiving weekend. Hopefully the mountains will be open long before that so I get to ride my brand new prior! Thats sick you guys are getting out so early though, mountain bike season is just ending so its perfect timing... -Rob
