Honestly, before it goes to Ebay, I'd rather give it away. And about the Proton - I have a new one of those that I haven't even used yet because my old Burton bindings don't fit and I haven't found any reasonably priced compatible ones yet. I guess the Alp just frustrated me. And stubborn as I am I don't want to accept that it's all my fault that I can't get the %$#@ thing to carve. But watch the classifieds: if a base grind doesn't help, someone will get a free board pretty soon...;)

...since that seems to be the general consensus. But where? Yes, I followed the thread about this subject a little while ago, but none of those suggestions are even remotely close to my normal habitat. I live in Colorado Springs and board in Summit County. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Chris, thanks for your input - it's nice to know that I'm not the only nut posting on Bomber in the middle of the night... I certainly do not claim to be an expert on anything snowboard, but the 146cm 4.7 190s FP IS softer than the 151cm Alp. The Alp is the the board I learned on - I've never used a soft setup - and I always had trouble to turn the thing, which I assumed was just my lack of technique. But as soon as I got on the FP this morning, everything just felt "right", for the first time ever did I feel in total control about where I'm going. I'm so happy I can't sleep - and I'm calling in sick today so I can get on the slopes again! :D But I simply don't understand how by switching boards I can go from forcing the board around each turn to instant (fist run!) nice, even carves...

Help - after spending about 20 VERY frustrating days trying to get my Alp to carve, experimenting with angles, cant, even buying new boots, I came across a dirt cheap Factory Prime, thought I'd try that and - surprise! - as of today I can carve!!! Upon inspection tonight it turned out that the Alp is edge-high. Barely, that's why I didn't notice it before, but anyway. Now I have two questions: 1. Can the fact that I can push the corner of a piece of paper about 3/4" under the middle of a truebar placed across the board really make such a difference? Or is it just the fact that the Factory Prime is much softer and has a smaller SCR (>8m) and therefore is simply much easier to maneuver for my 125lbs? 2. What do I do about the Alp? My husband bought it for me a few years back as a hardly-ever-used-bargain: it's the 99/00 model, light blue, with the wolf'd head and was collecting dust at a rental shop. Is it worth spending the money to get it level? Or do I just write it off? Thanks, Jutta

Just bought another board (why didn't anyone warn me that this hardbooter thing is extremely addictive??) and now need an extra set of bindings. Yes, of course I really want the TD2SIs, but I'm afraid budget restrictions wil make that wait until next season. I'm far from riding agressively and at 125 lbs. I assume almost any 4-hole compatible binding will work for me. Anyone have anything collecting dust? Thanks...

not that I have any personal practical experience, but I'm trying to decide which tuning gear to buy right now and in the course of my research I came along teh following info on the Carver's Almanch site (http://www.alpinecarving.com) that sounded like your problem: If you wax with an iron that is too hot, air underneath the P-Tex can expand and cause a bubble to form. You will also notice a discoloration caused by the air bubble. To fix it, drill two small holes, each on opposite ends of the bubble. Place a pool of epoxy over one hole, and suck it through the bubble using a syringe in the other hole. Then clamp the board overnight. Then you will need a base grind Maybe this helps:)

Hi there - I'm not sure how much that would help you, but as a native "Kraut" I do tend to a) get over there at least once a year and always end up bringing a whole bunch of stuff back with me anyway and b) can probably get shipping arranged. Also, I know that most Ebay.de offers will state that items will only be sent to Germany/Europe, but especially when you buy from individuals and non-wholesalers a frindly request if they'll ship overseas (with you picking up teh costs, of course) will usually yield a positive result.

Not that I have any personal experience, but last weekend I saw a skier who had solved the problem by attaching one of those little tabletop tripods to his helmet (lots of duct tape involved). Might be worth a try, as long as you put a tether on the camera...:D

Hi Al - here's how to attach a picture: when writing/editing a post look just above the "submit post/reply" button - there is a an "attach file" field that lets you include files up to 100KB. For pictures you'll usually have to edit them to comply with the size limit, but that's all. Good luck with your sale!

These boots have been only been used for 8 days and are in great condition - I just bought them too big. The 413s are a great soft-flex hardboot, ideal for beginners or lightweights. They don't come with the moldable liners, however the standard liners are well made, complete with top powder strap, and will keep your feet warm and comfy. $60 OBO. SOLD

Well, maybe those of us who for some strange reason ended up with 9-5 jobs and don't live right next to a resort? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you to be able to get out during the week, but for me a day on the slopes starts at 6:30 am with a 2 hour+ drive. It's not that I prefer it that way - but for me it's the only way.

First of all, I don't like any of the military style "accessories" that seem to be so fashionable right now, be it Woodland Camouflage Snow Pants, Urban Camouflage Snowboard bags or the above mentioned helmets. My husband is in the military and I see enough gear as is. But I also think that P.C. is taking over our daily lives. Might some people be offended by anything resembling a German WWII uniform? Certainly. But the same can be said for any part of any military uniform. Tolearance is a wonderful thing - if exercised by all sides...
