  1. ...does anyone know where I could get suspenders for a pair of descente ski pants? Mine got lost somehow... It's a "Y" system: 1 loop in the back, 2 in front, about 1 3/4" wide. Thanks!!:)
  2. unfortunately, with a September wedding date this wasn't an option for us - not even in UT! Sorry it didn't work out, though...
  3. I'm afraid I'll have to side with Rugger on this one. Could it have been just an angry, drunk, early morning revenge type post? Sure, but censorship still isn't a good thing. If I see ten raving reviews from different people from different parts of the world (i.e. not 10 somewhat identical posts from the same local group) and one "0" rating - now, honestly, would that in any way discredit the other posts? And to be quite honest, every time I look at reviews and they all, without exception, are very positive, I tend to think that someone is screening them. No matter how great a product is, there will always be someone who hates it, whether his gripe is justified or not. And on the 100lbs... anyone thought that that should maybe read 100kg? I haven't read every gear-review post, but I if I remember correctly, there are reviews out there where the author obviously misread/misunderstood the question, like this one: height: 574" (?) Again, I'm not trying to tell anyone just how they should run this site - I am very glad it exists in its current format and visit it (almost) daily. I just have some issues with censorship...;)
  4. ...as much as I love my super-stiff ski boots, I'm very happy with my softer raichles - but I'm only 125 lbs ;). I paid very little for my hardly used ones, but small sized gear (size 23 boots, 150cm-ish boards) seems to be a lot cheaper around here. The boots alone pobably shouldn't cost you more than $100. However, if the ebay offer includes the intec heels ($50 new), you might have to adjust that number up a bit. In any case, might be worth watching...
  5. just how old are these things?
  6. saw these today: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21249&item=7141276650&rd=1
  7. I assumed he meant to write 7.8 and then fell into the Burton trap: Burton seems to drop the "1" from the length in centimeters and then puts a period between the remaining digits; i.e. my Alp 5.0 is 150 cm, my FP 4.6 is 146cm... Sorry!! I actually have the 149cm Proton SL, but mine looks wider than the one on the picture, so I would say the ebay one is longer than 149cm - does anyone know in which lengths the red/silver SL model was made? PS(edit): just read RDY_2_Carve's reply - I stand corrected. Sorry again for getting anyone's hopes up... :D
  8. LOL, I wear a size 23!! My 8 year old currently still wears a kids 13/junior 1.. I guess that will mean skiboots for her!!
  9. wasn't there someone looking for one of these? check here
  10. My 1998 model (light blue, wolf's head graphic), less than 20 days on snow, is collecting dust and is looking for a new home. Here are the specs: total length: 150cm running length: 126cm effective length: 129.5cm tip: 23.5cm waist: 19.5cm tail: 23.5 cm side cut radius: 8.46m Recommended weight range is 90-150lbs It's in great shape, I just found that I preferred a softer, narrower board with a tighter sidecut (Burton FP 4.6); the Alp felt too stiff for my 125lbs, but then I enjoy turning way more than going fast. Make me an offer - I'm not trying to get big bucks, I just want to find a nice new home for it.;) Shipping with Priority Mail should run around $16.50 for the lower 48.
  11. The seller doesn't accept paypal, making a direct balance transfer necessary - a pain in the rear! In any case, make sure the seller will go through the trouble of shipping to the US and be prepared to pay the steep price tag: depending on the exact weight, expect to pay $65-95 for shipping...:(
  12. Since kids' boots are usually relatively soft they should work okay, shouldn't they? Are kids' size hardboots even made? With parents wearing size 23 and 26 respectively, our kids - assuming they want hard set-ups - will almost have to start out in skiboots. One good thing: with our girls being 5 years apart, we should get a fair amount of "double usage" out of most gear...;)

    FS- Burton Plates

    just sent you an email...:)
  14. ...that was just one of the sites I hit to get some references, along with several forums, google and the f2 homepage; but there seems to be no information on the targeted weight range. I have an offer to buy them privately, but wanted some objective (i.e. not from the seller) opinion. Here's my problem: I normally ride Burton toeclip bindings which never have given my 125lbs any trouble. Now I want to put a second set of bindings on my other (4 hole compatible) board but can't seem to find any cheap ones. Hubby normally rides TD2 step-ins, but is willing to trade me the oxygen toeclip bindings from his backup board so I don't have to buy intec heels for my boots. So now the question is: will this binding hold his 180 lbs?
  15. F2 Intec Challenge Comp 03/04 Bluetomato.at (who sell them new for $150) doesn't have any info on a suggested weight range for the rider, just an upper angle limit of 55 degrees, which wil be fine for the intended board. Does anyone here know them? I'm looking for a softer intec setup for a 180 lb rider. Thanks; Jutta :)
  16. I'm with the "let's wait until they are older group" - my 8 year-old has been on skis every season since she was three, but based on where we were living until recently that meant less than 10 days per season. By now she is confident on all blue runs and will make it down black runs, powder and moguls as needed (i.e. follow mom and dad having fun...). Her ski- and snowboard-instructor daddy has declared 10 the magic age - since we still ski as well as board he wants her to be a pretty good skier before she starts on new equipment; with an August birthday that will mean snowboarding for the 2006/07 season. The little one, 3 as of October, has just started skiing this season and after ditching the edgy-wedgies after day 6 she is already confidently going down any green run by herself and she absolutely loves going through trees ;) Since she's incredibly strong for her age and should get about 30 days per season on snow, she'll probably be on a board by age 7 or 8. In the end, I guess it very much depends on the individual child; as long as they're enjoying themselves sliding down a mountain - no matter on what equipment - all should be well. :D
  17. nigelc - thanks, this is exactly the type of "report" I was looking for bibo - thanks for the pic; I think we ended up with a different model year: the shape/ridges are the same but the color is a darker blue, kind of like the background on this page. The original pricetags read 799 D-Marks and 499 Euros, hence my suspicion of a 2000 model BobD - thanks for the detailed specs, looks like hubby got exactly what he wanted. He bought this board "blind" bacause he was absolutely in love with his first alpine board (see pic), trusts the brand and wanted to try another oxygen model. Thanks again for ALL THE INFO!! Jutta
  18. Help - my husband just bought a cheap, still new-in-plastic Oxygen APX Slalom (?) Board (158cm, 26-21-26 tip-waist-tail, forgot to measure effective edge, no idea about sidecut). He just wanted a shorter, turnier board to play around with on the easy runs our little girls frequent. His Prior 4WD doesn't seem to be doing too well in crowds... From what I found through Google and forum searches I believe it's the 2000 model (blue topsheet); the only two reviews I found (in German) basically said "turns nicely, unstable at high speeds" Does anyone here have any personal experience with it? Just curious... Thanks! :)

    Crazy Picture

that would be a nice $80,000 price tag + import taxes...
  20. Williwhit - #1: I just happen to think that it's stupid to voluntarily give up one of your senses while engaged in a potentially dangerous activity. #2: I'm fine with the smurf reference - at 5'3" I'm used to that ;), but what's with the google joke? As far as I understood, SWriverstone was asking for opinons, no?
  21. Basically I think it's irresponsible to ridee (or ski) with your ears plugged. On a day when you are alone on a run, I guess it's fine, but I'm afraid I've had to may near-run-ins with people who are completely unaware of their surroundings and all too often sport wires...
  22. ... but I'll have to pass. My supreme budgetary authority (aka hubby) just issued a no-more-snowboard-related-purchases-this-month order. :( I thought I could convince him of the absolute necessity of this purchase but I guess buying 2 snowboards this months was enough already...
  23. ...but I'd really like to get these. If Kent didn't get them yet, can I tempt you with $80+shipping? Thanks, Jutta PS: Changed offer; had you confused with another offer and thought they were much older :)
  24. Yes, but.... while an extra set of discs would indeed allow me to ride it, I admit to being lazy. I want to be able to switch boards without having to remount bindings, hence the eventual need for an extra set of bindings.
