I mounted up my 4807 expecting a great powder day at Loon, and got ganked! They only had about five inches and most of it had been groomed. However, it was a great day to rideand it was the only board I brought. The 178 rides like a much smaller board. It performed better than I thought considering the condtions. It is a very stable and damp board and will take whatever you throw at it. The boat nose allows it floats over everything, including little skiers. In the powder I did find, it floated effortlessly. I found it to be more responsive in powder than on groomed snow.
The board does carve nicely, it just takes alot more input than you'd expect. But, that could just be my riding. This board would be welcome addition into any quiver; even if you don't get alot of powder days. I had as much fun riding this board as any other. It was definitely worth the 70 dollars I paid for it.
Classic quote of the day, "Look at that funny board Daddy!"
