  1. Gleb, Congratulations on your first day! After my first day out on carving board, I went out and bought a helmet. (Just to be on the safe side) Wachusett is not to far from me, and this Monday looks free. This is my second season, so I know what your going through. Maybe Steve will trade pointers for beer. E-mail me so we can touch base. Mr. Colon
  2. A bootfitter should have wedges. Fittng boots is work in progress. They try something, then you go ride. You come back and tell them what you think. Good Luck. Mr. Colon
  3. I searched the gear reviews for boards, and noted the reviewers weight and where they ride. This helped narrow down my choices. Then, I called manufaturers and picked their brain to see what they would recommend. Sean at Donek was a great resource! I then, talked to as many people as possible. Carvers Gone Wild at Okemo was a super learning experience. I walked away knowing that my Burton FP 173 was the wrong board for me at the time. Demoing is great, but when conditions are good, people are reluctant to let go of their boards. Also, I found that by not having Intec Heels I had to pass on alot of oppurtunities to demo boards on my wish list. ECES, if you can wait, would be an ideal situation to demo/buy a board. At 270 lbs and an aggressive rider my quest has stopped at the Donek Axis 177 with OS2 Long Step-in. At least till I can afford to buy a Coiler or another Donek. Good Luck. :D
  4. Paul, Nothing yet. I'll email as soon as it arrives. Thanks, Mr. Colon
  5. Sleevez, Sounds like your foot might pronate in. Try duct taping a wedge underneath the foot bed on the same side as the pain. This will roll your foot away from the pressure. Wedges come in different sizes, so it might take some time to get the right fit. In addition, you might want to get the plastic footbed at base of the boot sanded down. This will drop your whole foot down in your boot to create some more room. This might help if your boot is not too big. Ultimately, seek the help of a boofitter. Good Luck. Mr. Colon
  6. Gleb, Any good ski shop should be able to help you with boot fitting. Just go when it is not busy and they should accommodate you. I just had my boots new Head Straos Pros fitted by Stu at The Ski Haus in East Longmeadow, Mass. They do not sell alpine snowboards, but the customer service is fantastic. So before you start dropping more cash, go to a reputable shop and spend some time with one of their techs. Your feet will thank you for it, and it might not cost you anything.
  7. Gleb, Are you sure these are the right size for you? Did you shell fit yet. If the answer is yes, try changing your footbed. (Superfeet work well, just be sure to step on it before you buy, to make sure its comfortable) By changing your footbed the arch should shorten the length of your foot creating more room inside the boot. Good luck!
  8. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! sincerely, Mr. Colon and family Dracut, Mass.

  17. I just scored a new 4807 from Easternboarder in Mass. I hear this board is great in powder. But, how does it perform in spring conditions? Thanks, Mr. Colon P.S. Read other relevant threads, looking for new perspective.
  18. What a fantastic time! It was snowing when I left this afternoon.(2-3 inches) There must have been between 30-40 carvers. Everyone was super frinendly and more than willing to give a newbie some pointers. If you can make to Okemo.... go, you wont be disappointed. Big Props to Bricky for putting it all together!
  19. Buggs, Does that mean I can demo your Coiler? Hope your back gets better! Mr. Colon
  20. I think I've got a bad case of "carversitus" at Bousquet last night. I just might have to call in sick twice. Mr.Colon
  21. Bricky, Count me in for "Get Dialed In". Do you have a potential date yet? Muchas Gracias, Mr. Colon
  22. I am a newbie and will be attending on the 9th. I've ridden with other carvers (while on softies) and found it to be very rewarding as a snowboarder. Scott I am also looking forward to riding with other newbies and experienced carvers as well. Mr. Colon
  23. Mirror70 that sounds great! Maybe sometime in late March? Anyone else interested? I can't be the only new carver out there who needs some instruction. Once again thanks for the heads up! -G-
  24. Noah, Thanks for offering to teach! Hopefully, there will be more interest. I sent you an email to start discussing the details. Thanks, G
  25. Looking to start a Clinic for new carvers before March 9. Perferably a weeknight after work at one of the resorts that has lights. Jiminy Peak or Berkshire East would be great, but what ever is easier for the group. If your interested, in coaching or learning please post.
