  1. it was pretty sweet on the edges today...pretty empty too. I was riding the softies today. Boardman73 I will be there tomorrow - riding the FC- 185, looking forward to fresh groomed powder with sunshine. I'll be there first chair. Bright green pants and long carving board:D
  2. Yes - put em together - the 3 plates sounds good to me. Let me know when you got em completed - I'll meet you at Blue, deliver the 6-pack....and take this coiler for a spin.... I'll be in Daytona for Bikeweek from Feb 28- March 8th. Just putting the finishing touches on my 2.5 year chopper build project....super stoked! What flavor 6-pack you like?
  3. Chubz - just got off the phone with Bruce from Coiler - my new "custom" metal board is on it's way to me. I would like a set of those plates - are still making them? Let me know if it's possible. it will give me a good excused to meet and ride with you at Blue. Thanks Joe
  4. It's friday morning and I just picke my powder stuff over my hard boots to go to MC - can't believe it. I'll let you guys know how it was.
  5. As Dr D says "drive the knee" - driving the knee helps to tweak the board and holds the edge.....i just started soft boot carving and found my stance to be a little wide....I shrunk down from 19.25 to 18.5.....I was centered on the board at 19.25....I left my rear foot and shrunk the stance by moving my front foot back...this also put me back on the board more and helped me hold my edge. This is only my experience and my way of finding the sweet spot. my angles are 25/15 - I also can carve switch but not as stable because of board placement and the aggressive angles. I weigh 180 5'7" foot size mundo 27.5
  6. I've ridden hard boots for 12 yrs now and this year got on softboots for the first time. At first, I start at 15/ -3....super hard for me.....I moved them to 25/15 which felt more comfy. My issue was I was trying to ride the set up like an alpine board which did nothing but hurt my legs....once I realized I was standing sideways and began to concentrate on the toe and heel lifting as opposed to driving my knee it all came together. Carving on a softboard feels just as sweet.....IMO it is a totally different technique that drives the carve. And it wasn't until I realized that I needed to change my riding style that I could smoothly link the carves and enjoy the softboard carve. just my 2 cents
  7. looks like I picked thbest week to go out west...just returned from Breckenridge - 2 storms of more than 6 inches and 3 bluebird days How are the conditions lately at MC?....i will prolly get up there mid week for a couple of runs
  8. for sure looking for an O2, I have an alp 69 - which i only use in the very soft stuff....as for Madd....i ride the east coast and the ice slicer is the madd 170:D
  9. Thanks for you input....I'm likin the FR 47 - can you send me pics?
  10. yes yes - the narrower boards - now I remember back when I started. I used the alps....yes very forgiven because they were soft....but I then got on a volant and the transitions were much quicker and easier which left more energy and time to carve out the trail. I'd like to go short....what is the shortest carve board out there?
  11. I am setting my wife up on plates. So far I got Deeluxe boots mondo 23 I have Burton race plates or TD1s She is 5'1" 98 lbs she is on her 3rd yr of softies and carving rather well....just beginning to rip the steeps this year. She is riding a Ride Solace 142 What is a good race board to put her on and what size?
  12. boots are here - nice pack job...they look great. My wife will be home in an hour...can't wait to surprise her.
  13. I do definitely agree with personalization of every rider and every board....it's just nice to know where others are....gives me a start point. Just a s above i'm riding one knotch to the rear instead of to the front... go figure....I just know it's my sweet spot:D Thanks for you feedback and reply
  14. Thanks guys for the input - I set at 19.25 one space forward......no likey - moved to centered...still no likey......one behind center....yipppeee thats the one.

Thanks Joe

  20. I'm hitting Breckenridge on friday Feb 8 - I am of course bring the hard boots. I also have my Rome 158 metal w/ Burton Ions.... Looking for a set of binding to go with the set up.
  21. Yes - I will be there first thing Sunday......I just got back from riding there today....little stiff and fast in the early morning turned to spring condition slop by 11.....I went for breakfast @ Millside.....yummmmmmmy!!!!! Giv me a ring if your in.
  22. when I started out on that board I was slightly to the rear of it....stance width @ about 17.5" angles about 55/55. As time went on my angles have come to 66/66 with a stance width of 19.25".....I also move into Olympic series cateks with toe lift from and heel lift rear - with a slight inside cant on the rear. I've seen you carve on the softies....so you know it...just keep that butt down and the edge will hold...ttyl...Joe
  23. David - what set up are you riding....were you on the Prime yet?
