  1. We'll buy $160 easily-demoed Alps and 'Primes as long as we can. And many of us will wish for reasonably-priced, US-made gear for the five-days-a-year boarder.

I bought 2 used boards off of the classifieds here a few years ago, a FCII Donek and a Rennetiger, both leaning the to higher end of the preformance spectrum, both 2 seasons old for about 175 each. You do not need to spend a fortune to get on newer technology from smaller manufacturers, leave the burton stuff to the resellers on ebay.

  2. Last week, "ride fast take chances" from a tele skier admiring my evil looking virus, this week:" how long you been riding a speed board" from a skier I was sharing a chair with, But the best was at the entry to the lift maze as I was helping old acura with a busted intec cable: "I want to ride like that, you are a great rider", That one made my noggin swell a little.:ices_ange

    Thank ya ma'am

  3. Dave,

have a blast tomorrow, and tear it up. Monodude, myself, and the rest of the lovey crew will do the same. Groomers are a wonderful thing, I like how they get rid of the piles of ****e those skidders leave as well as our trenches. There is one steeper run we hit, spillway, that is usually filled in by the time I come up the lift for another run, I can't even admire my handy work.

  4. Guys, my silly little post was done in an entirely sarcastic and satirecal vein. Jack, I was unfamilliar with skawalling and didn't know poles were used, I was just making a commentary on the apparent joining of three discliplines after a really fun day on the slopes. Dave, have you not felt that way after passing a slope you have been riding all day?

sorry to those I have offended, it was all in fun

  5. Mario - I assume you mean Loveland? What time? Looks like no new snow in over a week.

8:30 lift 1, time to follow up on that breakthrough John. Inky, cannot wait to see you kill it on my old board, esp. since you tuned it:rolleyes:. D, glad you are acting more mature than I could!

  7. AP Loveland

Monodude, a featured, rider in Warren Milllers OFF THE GRID showed up at Loveland Basin without his new yama on sunday. Instead of riding in his usual side by side stance on a monoski, Monodude, also known as Don from Arvada, was seen riding a 165 Thias skawl with his left foot in front of his right. Still sporting ski poles and boots, Monodude has created yet another lightly populated subgenre of snow sports, skiwarving. Monodude was seen in the company of a stout hardbooter absoulutely destroying the slopes at loveland, leaving hundreds of sinewy trenches all over the mountain. When asked about the damage he had left on his new conveyence, Monodude replied " It was fun, I can't wait to do it again."

  8. very cool Don, shaping up like you and I will be the only freaks on the hill. Just told my wife I will be riding with a movie star, to which she replied "Tens of them show up.....". I think I will give the salesman a shout.

  9. sorry kimo,

Already made plans with my sweetie for tomorrow, and Tpalka may be coming up for sunday. Besides, I already know what it's like to ride lovey in the cold and gray, I'm looking foward to riding in sun and temps near freezing.

  10. What does this have to do with carving you ask? Plenty says I. Loveland and Tommy Knocker brewery are both out of Tommy K's winter brew, a delightful little porter with a touch of cocoa and a hint of honey. This is a major harbinger that the end of carving draws nigh for yet another season. But more importantly, I am not quite ready for the light, cloudy wheat ales of summer. Guinness is a nice substitute, alas, those mid day carving breaks for the next month and a half will not be the same without cocoa porter.:(

until october, (next batch,:biggthump checked yesterday)
