  1. Tuesday December 7th, Pearl Harbor Day.

Had a work trip to Sodak get cancelled so I took advantage of the sunny sky's. Met a new hardbooter, Leif. Told him to come out on Sunday, we might have another one! Bobd was out on the Palmers tearing it up.

The condition were firm and icy. Found a big chunk of ice on the first run, I am feeling that crash right now. All in all not to bad, hopefully they step up the grooming a little in the ice areas.

  2. jessie, caught grabbing ass, and not karl's. just checking to see if his butt is bionic too?

That's not me, that's Spencer (Rufus's son). I am between Bobl and Rufus.

Good time today, crazy to see that many hardbooters out!

  3. I think today was the definition of variable conditions. Powder, Ice, cord, soft groom and whatever else you could come up with. I should of brought the soft board but took the Coiler instead. Warners was good but that was about it. If they do a good job of grooming tonight Sunday should be great.

  4. So BioMan, does this mean that you will be joining us again this season? Keep us informed so we can rally the troops to ride with you.

    Ink

I will sneak out at least once, its becoming a yearly thing now :)

I'll let the group know when I come out. Always a good time with the Lci Crew!

  5. jp1, don't forget that if you actually do interview out there that makes your trip a tax deduction. Now I need to do some interviewing when I make my trip to Loveland.

  6. A guy we ride with uses a 4runner to haul a car to the track, it's a Z3. With a trailer it has got to be a pretty good load. He really likes the way it behaves.

I Don't mean to poop poop your ideas, BUT. Rule of thumb for long haul of a trailer with a vehicle I have always heard half of rated..... Anything above that and the vehicle is working HARD! OK for a weekend camping trip, but I wouldn't take it through the Rockies.

I don't have any suggestions that you would like, sorry.

I am assuming this is me you are talking about. :biggthump

I have towed my track car BMW Z3 M Coupe all over the country with a V6 4Runner. The 4Runner/Taco has some of the best stock brakes you will ever find. It comes all prewired with the 7 pin connector and has a harness all set for electronic brake controls. I was at 5000 pounds with my setup, which is the max for the V6. I didn't worry because I put in an additional tranny cooler and the V8 hitch.

Right now I don't have either of those vehicles but I think I am going to go with a 4 door Taco short box for my next tow vehicle.

  7. This poll needs a "Zero Option" for Iowa too. There is the rare day when another carver is on the hill, but it is indeed rare. In the last 2 years I've seen only 2 hardbooters (in Iowa) besides me. Next season I'm going to make an effort to meet up with the folks in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Come on up. Sundays at Buck see anywhere from 4 to over a dozen carvers out.

  8. That was an interesting day. Firm, soft, firm, soft and so on. Softies were an interesting experience. I am glad I got a new set of boots, the new equipment really has gotten better. The only thing I would like is a better highback.

  9. I saw the Bob's for a couple of runs on Warners, the ski's looked like fun.

When I got there I ran into Steve right away. We made couple of runs and realized that compressed wet snow at 35 degree's is rock hard. Decided to go in for a coffee/hot cocoa, I was about to leave but Steve convinced me to wait it out. We went out after Karl rolled in and the conditions got much better. I think it also helped that a little bit of sun came, the flat light right away was horrible.

I felt pretty sorry for the dh bike guys. That course was horrible, ruts were over a foot deap. Hopefully they can do one earlier in the season.

It's a shame that the season is looking to be about over. I was having a riot today, I really do love my Coiler.

  10. I am surprised by the number of fellow engineers posting here, I wonder if there is something about carving that attracts us to it?

    - Greg

    I think there is.

    @Arclite

I recommend all the math you can get. I took calc in high school, made the first two calc classes in college a breeze.

  11. It was great earlier in the day. A little ice in the middle of the run. I wish the tow rope was going on Olympic, the condition there was great (glove burning cord). Bobd was looking great on the new ski's. I saw a couple of runs through the course, such a different sound of him cutting the course up.
