  1. This seriously happened to a mate of mine. Was living in London and met a great girl. He moved home and she came back a couple of month later. In the interim, my friend spent his days working and his spare time on his wind trainer (stationery bike mount), for up to three hours at a time. When she came home, he had terrible trouble. To put it bluntly, he couldn't keep it up. She thought he didn't lover her anymore, or there was another woman. He went to the doctor who basically told him he was an idiot, not to ride for that long in a stationary position, and within a couple of weeks, problem solved. They now have one child and another on the way. See, happy endings all round!
  2. Jim, I do need a new pair of softy bindings. If you don't sell them to Sleeves, let me know. I'll take them off your hands (even pay you for them!) and pick up at SES to save freight. Let me know. Dan
  3. You know I'd love to Bryan, but with my limited time on plates, it will take a while to amass a reasonable number of photos. Maybe will have to work on that at SES.
  4. Jim, I might take you up on your offer of somewhere to crash. That is, if you can also put up with a soft booting friend (though will try to convert him during the course of the week). I guess it would depend on what we would need to bring bedding-wise though, cos we will have to lug it out from Oz. Drop me an e-mail at danielh@hayden.com.au and let me know. Cheers Dan
  5. You guy probably wouldn't get it (Kath & Kim), but I think that "Trench Digger" is pretty appropriate. Hey Bill, will be at SES and St Moriatz 2006 so looking forward to seeing you there (hopefully i've improved enough to be able to ride with you guys this year). Dan
  6. Come on Randy, get up out of bed you lazy so-and-so. Post and put us all out of our misery!
  7. Have you guys ever seen / heard of Xavier Rudd? He has played a bit with Jack Johnson from time to time. He does a lot of touring in Canada and USA so if you ever get the chance, check him out. Absolutely AMAZING! I ran into him today (live in the same town, known each other forever) and suggested that he try to do a gig in Aspen some time between 11-17 Feb 2006. That would really make SES!
  8. Well then, you need to start working on the rules. Not too hard though, we are only simple men folk. And since we will be putting in all the hard work, our simple psyches will respond best to good prizes (quite apart from the prize of knowing the winner was capable of impressing the lovely Michelle).
  9. No can do, though it does sound damn fine. Perhaps if I wasn't committed to SES, as well as Hawaii in May for the Molokai Channel crossing (52km surf ski paddle) I might have been able to swing it. Perhaps another year.
  10. Jim, I know that is what the demo tent is for, but I would feel bad if he just used demo gear all week (especially boots) and potentially stopped other people getting to try it out. I think his foot is probably about the same as mine and I ride in mondo 29.5 boots. Dan
  11. Just booked my ticket on Friday, so I am in for SES, regardless of whether there will be a demo tent or not (though I definately hope there is). Will be flying into Vail (never flying into Aspen again after last year) from Oz on 6 Feb and flying out on 18 Feb. I am coming with a mate and we will be driving from Vail to Aspen probably on Monday 13th AM (though flexible at this stage) and staying at St Moritz. Would be interested in getting together with a shared ride if anyone is doing a similar run from Vail to Aspen. Also, Adam (my friend) has never hard booted before. What is the likelihood of being able to hire some gear for him?
  12. Don't be jealous of the fact that we have snow at the moment. I have been at Mt Hotham all this week and going up again for a couple more days tomorrow, but it just makes me long for Colorado. Man made slush on a base of beginner rutted ice, if you are lucky. In fact, I wasn't so lucky, and snapped a board when I went right through the base onto a big granite rock. Thank god it wasn't my new Prior, but it does mean I am stuck riding softies for the rest of the week. Oh well, at least one good thing is the girlfriend is getting heaps better, so I don't get so frustrated riding with her anymore. When I get home will be packing up the gear until Feb.
  13. You bet. Bookmarked it! CHeers
  14. And Austraila!!! We are currently paying $1.30 per litre (quarter gallon for all you metric phobics) so quit complaining. When you hit $5 a gallon then come talk to me.
  15. Mine is simple - SES 2005. This was my third (I think) ever day of carving, so the style is not too good, but it reminds me of how much fun I had. Thanks to Mozz for the pic www.ozcarve.com/sesimages
  16. While that might be true in purely financial terms....surely you are jesting!!! SES is the answer to all carving questions rolled up in one beer and trench soaked week.
  17. I have size 10.5 feet and ride a Prior 4WD with a 21.4cm width. I ride it at 50 / 45 (F/B) with no dramas. I am still in my first year of carving and admit that it did take a while to get used to the change up from 18 / 6 but after a few runs it is fine. Tell him to just bite the bullet and crank up the angles and carve!
  18. That is possibly the most hillarious thing I have seen posted here (no offence Aisling & Bob). And who said we wouldn't make 6000 views?!?!?! :D
  19. Michelle, if I didn't think that my girlfriend would mind me using all my good lines on two attractive, single women while she is stuck on the other side of the world, I'd be up for the contest. But despite my unavailability, it would be an interesting presentation for the final night of SES. Star light, Star bright First star I see tonight I wish I may, I wish I might Have the wish I wish tonight.
  20. As you pointed out to me earlier, be careful what you wish for!!!
  21. Have a look at this website: http://www.spiritpaddle.com.au/ We have a few of these down here at the surf club and canoe club. They are great for just crusing around, work well in the surf, work well in the river, are stable, have space for a little bit of storage, are very very durable (we have beginners using them in the surf and running them over rocks and they seem to hold up pretty well) and are easy to get on and off. Also, with the US Dollar being worth more that the Aus Dollar, it could be reasonably priced for you.
  22. I'll work on him in Feb. I know that Mozz is pretty keen to organise a weekend of carving, so you could write it off as a legitimate business expense. But believe it or not, I actually like having visitors, so bring it on girls.
  23. Michelle, Of course the offer is open to you. In fact I am moving into a bigger place next month, and not being sexist, the offer is basically open to any cool people. But definately open to you and Aisling! In fact, if I make it to SES this year, it would then be your turn to come and visit me...
