  1. Here is my review of the new version of the plate from Donek. I have the long plate version.

clocked 2 days on the plate in very different conditions.. perfect grooming to pretty icy in the afternoon

First of all, the quality of the plate and hardware is amazing. The plate looks very good.

I have ridden a few plate, the Apex sports plate that I have tried a for a few weeks before it was recalled by the company and I have tried the Lowrider plate last season.

Now the weight, the Apex weight with hardware at 5 pounds and your plate a lot less, I think it was 3.9 pounds, only 1.1 pound but you can really feel it. No pain in the leg after 3 runs from sitting in the chair without a foot rest.

Setup is a little more complex, the Apex didn't have any stance options to move the axles where you wanted so it was very fast to setup. The Donek wasn't complicated but it took some thinking and measuring to get the axles where I wanted them to be. Which is a good thing I was able to put the axles exactly where I wanted them to be. Didn't take very long. After 2 days of riding nothing is coming apart (which is good) the apex I had the check the screws every few hours.

Now the riding. Low speed and moving around people, the plate is very easy to control, very close to not having a plate I find. At riding speed the Donek feels a lot mellower, the Apex had the feeling that it always wanted to throw you off board but the donek doesn't have that. I find it works very well with my style. It has very nice edge hold on the east coast ice. You can work the plate and pedal it to some extend, it's not crazy stiff.

So so far so good, It made my Coiler 180 VSR do what I wanted to do. I liked the board but it didn`t carry very well it`s speed from turn to turn on flatter spots in the mountain. Since the plate really pushes you out of every turn it helped to make that board ride the way I wanted it to ride.

I also find the plate almost completely eliminate shattering.

Height of the plate is not a real problem. It's odd at first to kick in the lift line but you forget it. Being higher on the board gives you the advantage of lowering a little the angles if you need without worrying about booting out.

I'm very happy with the plate, Sean has taken the time to talk to me and explain me things he did to the plate. Fun plate to ride for people like me who doesn't race and just like to carve it up !

  2. I'm in the same boat as you I ski with my son and board. I know Dalbelo have a set of boots that are good for carving too, I'm not sure of the model. BlueB mentioned to me a while ago, I'm sure if you search around the forums you will find it.

I have the UPZ but at 105$ for a set of toes and heels it doesn't make any sense. It's way too much money for 4 pieces of plastic. Even the replacement toe heel pads for the UPZ are 105$ and for Deeluxe it's 20$. So I never walk with my boots on asphalt or concrete...!

  6. It already has 2 springs on the boot. Not as much travel as the BTS but it works great. I found when I stwich liners the boot had the same feel as my Af600 with bts yellow spring. Of course the af were much softer. I doupt the BTS works on the boots, at least I`ve never heard anyone who has done it.

Or you can install a ACSS

it`s from the french forum here on bomber and there is a link a little bellow to an external Italian forums and they talk about the modifications. Now don`t ask me what they are saying.

  8. I don't see Kids menu on the list.

PBJ, Mac & Cheese, Mini-pizza, Corn dog, Fries... etc. ?

At least offer the kids (and adults) fresh and healty ingredients. Something that I like when I go to the states is the pride of many restaurant / barkery trying as much as possible to offer local grown food.

On that Bacon, Banana and peanut butter sandwich, it`s actually pretty good. I tried it a few years ago after reading about it in a mag. It`s not on the light side !

  10. 27 raichle AF600 and switched to UPZ same size 27. I tried the new track but couldn't fit in it, the interior volume seems to be a lot bigger. I most straps to the tightest and wasn't good.

With a Termo liner (scarpa) the UPZ soften up with a nice flex that I like. Made me think of my raichle with yellow BTS. I loved them now.

  11. Like I said I was very skeptical, but 2 other guys did it before me the used 30 liners in the 27 shell, if you read the thread I posted, this is where I go the information about the scarpa liners. So I said to myself for 29$ it was well worth the try. Really happy I did it. The liner fits perfect in the boot.

http://gearx.com/scarpa-plus-fit-ski-boot-liners.html They are in vermont, I was visiting burlington so no shipping. Looks like they still have some in stock.

  12. Hey, I had the similar question about changing my liner in my RC-10 a few months ago. I didn't like the comfort of mine and after a year + of giving it a chance. Plus I was freezing in these flo liners.

You ca read the thread here. http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=34763&highlight=upz+liner

I bought with a lot of skepticism a set of size 29 Scarpa liner from gear xchange for 29$, so it was worth the risk. I'm a size 27 but after 2 other people here that did it, it works great. Without any heating the liner was very comfortable in the boot. Cooked it and it's very good. I put my sole in the liner and they work great with the UPZ boot.

    Good luck
