Daytime, I'm with @Odd Job been wearing red snow clothing for 10+ years. Photographers know that red catches the eye in any image.

Maybe it’s time to switch to yellow, or start dressing as a fire truck:

  2. Everything Marvin said here, but this is the 30th anniversary edition with the flat profile. Set up with F2 step-ins and softish UPZs.

A bit more detail from two days on the snow:

    • Handled all conditions with aplomb. Milled through chop and cut-up windblown like it was creamy schmaltz. I didn't run into a lot of groom, but edge hold was strong on hardpack. Does not drift when flatbasing on cat tracks.
    • Hiked the south headwall at Lovey and the light weight was noticeable on the climb. Confident fast turns on the steeps. Holds speed well on the run out.
    • I was sure I'd be looking for a replacement after uncovering a string of rocks on a deep heelside but the base/edge were barely nicked.
    • Like all Rad Airs, it looks great.

Compared to the old Glissade I fought with on every single maneuver for a few runs earlier on Day 2, the Tanker feels like an extension of myself ("No think, no think, no think, just ride").

The updated 186 is quite a bit wider than my old Heli-cat but I still have to run pretty steep angles. It does make me curious about the 200, though...

Now I'm waiting for street sweeping to clear all the sand off the roads so I can play on the surf skate.

Good on ya. This week I've taken mine to one of the local skate parks to ride the bowls/transitions. For something that feels flowy, it's a quad burner.

  4. LBC!

For the 25th consecutive year, I will not be in Stuben for the Longboard Classic. But the Stateside version - The Longboard Poseur - was held at Loveland on April 2! Here are some shots from an unforgettable day:

    The full participant quiver!

Actually, the Arbor was just left there by some guy who went to take a piss. But all the rest are from the event!

The full lineup at the top of Patrol Bowl! Plus some rando skiers observing the hill:

And a panorama of the sponsor tents! A great place to meet fellow longboard enthusiasts ...

...and rent a locker and refill your water bottle and pee.

Fine, it was just me, by myself, sneaking up to The Luv on a Monday. The old Glissade Big Gun 195 - I really want it to be my all time favorite board - rode like a pig. F-ing awful. The Tanker 186, the 30th anniversary model, rode like the opposite of a pig. Spent most of the day off 9, including a seeing-eye ride down Patrol Bowl in a squall (if you don't like the weather at Loveland, wait 10 seconds) and a hike to the south end of Super Bowl (the UPZs did surprisingly well in the bootpack). And I strafed Mario's Yard a few times because it was very inviting and I could. Not the LBC and not Stuben, but it's ours.

Riding 173 coiler with hardboots etc and an older ski patroller asked:  "That's quite a contraption, what's it for?"

My god man, she may have needed your help! Were there any other signs that she was hopelessly trapped in the 90s? Was she humming Ace of Base songs? Wearing Vuarnets and Roffe stretch pants? Maybe her hair didn't move in the wind? Think, damnit, think!

A big part of this (for me) was realizing that I was consistently letting too much speed build up even before the first turn.  You very likely accelerate through the apex of the first turn, so you need to learn how to keep your pre-turn speed low enough so that the exit speed is acceptable and controllable.

The second one is to finish every turn with a little uphill climb. It's not hard to do if the slope is wide enough. Although it's not as intuitive as the first one but it's a really effective way to shave off the speed.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know s*** about nothing, but this ^ is brilliant. And something like this https://www.loadedboards.com/products/loaded-carver-bolsa-longboard-skateboard?variant=43844133683444 is really useful for understanding/feeling the mechanics without the hassle of having to be on the snow.

I understand why, is it helping or hurting, this could be a Slalom exercise...If it was a Slalom, I believe the Jerkiness of his movements, would Add to his overall time...slowing him down...

Go easy, friends. “He” might be the Kid at the Assembly, all growed up…

    Good morning,

Thanks for the offer. Going to have to pass on this though.

What?! Man you drive a hard bargain. How about a Crazy Banana Voodoo 165 Ken Achenbach pro model (26.5 waist!), inserted by The Legendary "Cruise or Bruise" Wayne for ancient Sims bindings that were thrown away 30+ years ago? Or maybe I can find something older?
