  1. Not sure what I can do, I'm hoping I might be able to ride by then. I grew up in Bridgeport (50 mi north on US395) so am very familiar with the area, however since I live as far north as you (nekdut) live south, it will be a challenge for me also (it's also safe to say that you get there way more often than I do). My brother still lives in Bridgeport - I will see if he knows any one who might have some inside lines at either resort. Let me know if I can help, I will do what I can. p.s. I would think June would be more than willing to run gear up the first hill via service vehicle or utility chair.
  2. Progress is a trip. Back "in the day" as a kid when I was at June 40+ times a season at $1.00 per day (yes, one dollar), it was Deer Chute! Somewhere in the last few years they cleared a bunch of trees to spawn the Bowl. Looks like it was a good move for carvage. J7 was also simply Chair 3. Can't wait to get healed and go stay with my brother 25mi north in Bridgeport! Young Sandman doing a dollar-a-day backscratcher off The Wall at June approx 1981:
  3. I would love to go - but don't know if ankle will be healed by then - I hope so. Keep in mind that in addition to MHES, USASA North & South Tahoe Races, there is also the CNISSF (Calif/Nev high school) Championships will be held a Mammoth from March 5-10 ( http://www.cnissf.org/champs.html ). USASA Champs at Northstar March 27-April 1. 2nd weekend of April looks awesome for me.
  4. &^%$*#(!! I think I left the subject line blank:smashfrea I'll resend tonight. ESES !!!!! Can't wait! (Eastern Sierra Expression Session)
  5. That's a real bummer:mad: . In researching my injury I ran across what you have..sounds like that can be pretty bad too. I hope you are able to get it resolved without too many problems.
  6. Awesome!!! Was totally stoked to see the June Mt. pics as that is were I skied as a kid almost exclusively from 1975 to 1981! Keep up the awsome work! from my profile: Home Mountain/Resort?: Home: Mt. Shasta Board & Ski Park/ Favorite: Mammoth Mountain/June Mountain - Hands Down!! p.s. did you receive the pics from me of the homemade "snurfer"?? Is it snowing yet?
  7. Somewhere on your screen, during a call there should be an "A" (signifying analog) or "D" (signifying digital) - it's usually near the reception/signal strength display. If neither shows, it's most likely all digital. I don't really know what it means other than something to do with how the signal is 'packaged' for transmission/reception. Usually analog tends to be more broken/static/chopped, but you get reception when the digital would just drop the call.
  8. I don't know as far as your area and Cingulair, however with Verizon in northernmost Calif., I am getting as good or better reception than I was with my p.o.s. tri-mode Motrola. If a lot of your calls end up being in analog, the Treo won't be a great choice. My wife has an older Kyocera 6035 which doesn't have all the bells & wistles of the newer phones (monochrome screen, no photos, etc.) but it is tri-mode and has awesome reception when others don't. As far as I know, the only current smartphones with tri-mode are the Kyocera 7135 (Palm OS) and the Nokia 9300. It runs on a Symbian O/S platform instead of Palm or Pocket PC - I have no idea how that functions?? You can find a use Kyocera 6035 for $50, or a used Kyocera 7135 for $150 on eBay. But if analog isn't needed, GET THE TREO!! Is it snowing yet????
  9. I finally bit the bullet and got my Treo 650! I think I will be very happy with this device. Some hurdles to get over still, but overall this is an awsome piece of technology. The main problem at present is getting the contacts, memos and tasks to migrate from my old device and/or MS Outlook in the same categories as I had them in my Palm m505. (see this for further discussion so far: http://discussion.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=95803 ) Any one with any ideas?? Also what are you finding as the best source for ring tones (specifically for the Treo 650)? Thanks for any info! (below is a paste of another similar thread)
  10. as far as I'm concerned, "Boringhill" Mountain? Resort enough said:sleep: !
  11. Holy horrible horse pucky Bat Man!! I don't think I've ever said ouch so many times and laughed so much at the same time in such a short time period. What a great bunch of Stupid Human Tricks clips!!!

  13. The other one is dead (politics and flaming will get you every time:o ) But here is a funn one that should have been on that thread: Click here to watch Gas94 Laughter is good medicine!
  14. Thanks! Much like www.tinypic.com - I will give it a go.
  15. Searched this forum and the net, couldn't find answer. I have a wmv file saved on my computer - how can I post it on a message here? simple question?, simple answer? Thanks!
  16. Years back ............. when I was a wolf pup.:)
  17. re. sex scandle: Dude..............you crack me up!! You need to hurry up & rehab - I think you're already losing it!!
  18. No doubt!! Before we give up our cars.. (yes, we are fat & sassy gas hording Americans!! )... how about doing away with all the *&^%$# 18-wheelers - you want to talk contribution to smog?!? I can't figure out (other than the fact that we have oil moguls running the country) why the rail system can't be better used. One or two filth pumping locomotives can move hundreds times more product than one black-aired semi. I've seen way too much filth pump out of those semi truck stacks, and seen way too many HORRIBLE acidents caused by "professional" drivers. In the mean time, I am driving less, combining trips, and driving very conservatively. a very timely subject...but oh so close to political! Happy Labor Day weekend!! p.s. It so happens that we live (o.k., it is by choice) in a society and corresponding infrastructure that almost requires the use of autos. Should we choose not to be upwardly mobile, or have the luxury to work in a location that is accessable by something other than an automobile, then sans-auto living is feasable. Where I CHOOSE to live, without a motorized vehicle I would not be gainfully employed and I certainly wouldn't have the ability to carve come winter. Regards.
  19. I'm not sure yet - waiting for the packet from the doctor. I'll let you know when I have more info. Just remember, Colace is your friend:o
  20. Dude! That is messed up. I'm really sorry to hear about this, but it's awesome you don't need surgery. Sounds like your recovery time will end about the same time as mine (late Jan.?) Take it easy! You were supposed to be all strong and solid when I come down to Stanford at the end of Sept. for surgery. And you were supposed to be my eyes and ears at the top of the course until I can at least strap on some skis again. Guess we will have to get together for sure during my multilple trips to Redwood City for the next couple/three months. Best wishes! Dan
  21. I'm seeing a sports med podiatrist at SOAR in Redwood City/San Jose. They are a group and have specialists from the head down. While they don't specialize in snow sports, they are team docs for the Niners and some other pro teams - I would highly recommend this group. We've seen their spine specialist and other family members have seen their orthos - all with high regards.
  22. The penguin rocks! So does Optimus Prime. Still can't wait for snow!
  23. Thanks Cindy, corny but very true - I'll keep telling myself "it WILL be fun when I can again, it WILL be fun when I can again, it WILL be fun when I can again..........."
  24. Cortisone failed (no surprise). Per visit to M.D. yesterday: now it's orthoscopy time:mad: . Chances are high that I won't ride this year - doc expects 4+ months recovery time. He seems to think chance of re-injury or prolongation of healing would be high w/ snowboarding. Yet he said skiing probably wouldn't be as bad:freak3: . No matter how I tried, couldn't get him to grasp the concept that I ride a snowboard w/ hardboots. But I do know that any forward/outward pressure on the ankle (i.e. any toe side turn) hurts like h-e-double toothpicks. So at best I'll be coaching/watching my daughter's races this year from the finish arena. And depending on how it feels I might be able to cautiosly ski towards the end of the season. Won't be able to drive the Z for 2 months either. I'm pissed and bummed. I'll tell myself that sacrificing this season will be worth it so that I can ride longer in the future.
