  1. Ichecked with Donek and they said that they did make a twintip plaid board that season for a demo run that they sold through Maddmax? snowboards in colorado. It doesnt sound like its anything like the Incline iin stiffness though.sounds like they have evolved quite a ways since 1998....thanks:)
  2. Does anyone know what the Donek 1998 plaid model on ebay is? Is that aN INCLINE? Or is it Doneks first entry into freeride boards? The owner doesnt seem to know much, although he says he worked in a snowboard shop in Colorado.....It seems to have roughly the same measurements as an Incline.:)

  6. what about boots for superwide feet and thick calves?
  7. I am still weighing and evaluating information Im getting from carvers on a soft setup for next season.....I have been looking at the Nidecker 800 bindings simply because they look well designed and have a comfortable gel insert ankle strap also the Drake Matrix look sgood with a wide scyulpted strap. I was thinking about using one of those boxy toe straps like on the Burton Mission binding. Also I will need boots that are sort of stiff but will accomodate a wide foot( 9 1/2 EEEE width) and a thick wide calf area....some manufacturers seem to design for differrent physical traits. I tried a Solomon Malamute boot and it puts my toes asleep, which may be a binding flaw also...i was riding a n economy Ride binding (LS) with thin socks and no footbeds.....it sure seems liek a complicated puzzle with lots of variables for a newbie.....
  8. Hey, who in your opinnioon makes the most comfortable softboot bindings?......Drake Matrix seems to have the widest ankle strap..but Burton seems to have that really painfree toe cup strap? whats your favorite setup?
  9. I'LL TAKE SNOWBOARDING OVER SEX ANY DAY......ANY KIND OF SNOW IS BETTER THAN ANY KIND OF SEX....(is that pathetic or what?) hey once you hit 50 Im just glad to be able to get down the hill.........
  10. I feel the same way about my board(s) now we get to spend all summer dreaming!!!!!:D
  11. O.K. it look slike i will be giving lessons next season butim still confused on the board selection.A lot of the boards Im hearing about are classified as pipeboards..Should i be looking at ALL MOUNTAIN boards..or boardercross? I heard about a new board from Lib Technologies called the Dark MAGNETRACTION?.......I BOUGHT A K2 Instinct on impulse and it turns like a brontosaurus who wandered into the marijuana patch by accident..has anyone demoed the Donek INcline? For now Im using a Solomon Malamute boot in an anscient Burton Torque (3strap) binding. probably switching to a Flow Pro-c- cfx their highest stiffest freeriding cuff/tongue....Its actually making our snopark a fresh new experience . we got over a foot of wet cakey spring snow overnite with at least another 4-6 during hte day..the last hurrah!!!!
  12. 13. HEY ANYBODY OUT THEWRE HAVE A SET OF THOSE REALLY GREAT 3STRAP BINDINGS BURTON MADE A COUPLE YEARS AGO......? I NEED A SIZE LARGE:D
  14. WHOA....that look slike a fun cranking binding. The higher boot cup look slike just what i want for carving in soft boots. i didnt realize Flow made so many varieties of binding choices.glad i didnt just nail somethiing on ebay....has anyone demoed or bought the PRO-C-XFR....IT LOOK SLIKE IT WAS DESIGNED FOR CARVERS.........:D
  15. Yeah..the funny thing is i really feel i progressed this season too. i went to longer more surfey feeling boards and started picking up inexpensive longer boards off ebay etc. for me a long board is a 167. I found out that sharpening is the secret..I got a board off chris houghton that had the best edge i have ever ridden on anything and it was a $100. factory prime. S series. It may be fun to sort of strart over with a big wideassed board and relearn everything from the ground up.....i scored some malamute(solomon) boots off mark on the classifieds page so i hope they are as stiff as he says...next I need bindings.I can mull it over all summer unless i see a deal on ebay...
  16. Let me get this straight....You gguys are riding freeride boards (directional twintips) in a hardboot setup? I know my switcth riding will be rough but i could probably get it. I'm really down today.I went out and bought a 156 really stiff K2 Instinct that ii couldnt even do a toeside carve on in softboots and bindings.......wow how can anybody even ride those barges.......it does a cool heelside carev though....i dread having to handle it on ice..........
  17. SOMETHING TELLS ME THIS IS SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL!!!!YIKES.......anyhow i just nailed a K2 Instinct 156 today and am going to try it out tonight with a 3strap binding.......wish me luck.I am still leaning towards flow biondings for instructing because they sound convenient and i hear the high end ones are stiff......
  18. Hey how about Solomon Malamutes? boots..are they as good as Burton ? ......:D
  19. i gotta try..maybe Ill call ValSurf they are the largest Burton dealer west of the MIss....any other ideas?......
  20. HEY:does anybody know where i can get a Burton Raven in 155 length?......should i try to nail one now at end of season prices or wait till next year?
  21. WHAT I MEANT WAS THE SHAPE OF THE BOARDS NOWADAYS ARE DEFINITELY A HINDRANCE TO THE LEARNING CURVE. Its so hard to learn on one of those wide nose/tail waist boards. If i had to learn on one years ago i dont think i would have stuck with it. I think old scholol boards are easier to learn on.just because of the shape....whoa. i really set off a firestorm there....didnt mean to......;)
  22. HI GANG,heres a question for you to mull over.I have been snowboarding approx. 10 years now.I started with a 3strap Burton Torque binding and an Amp6 oldschool board with those old airwalk linertype boots.(extreme)..then I discovered the ease of alpine setups...Alps then factory primes and even a custom Prior with Burton Reactors and raceplates.......anyhow i want to give lessons at our local hill next season but they require a softy setup.I gravitated to carving because it just made sense.more control on eastcoast ice and easy in and out of bindings.one flip of the bail and im out or in....(why are softbooters so stoopid?) anyhow I have been checking out bindings and boards and i need advice......i dont liek how wobbly stepins are and straps are too much hassle so i was eyeballing that flow rear entry system..it really looks cool and easy to get in and out. Ive seen quite a few middle agers like me using them. also a board? I used to liek that solomon fr carving series but they dont make thast one any more..anybody ahve some good advise before i waste a ton of cash?/ also boots? solomon? whats a good boot for heavy calves that will slip into the solomon bindings?...thanks....:D
  23. thanks jason.....we are sliding slushies here in western n.y. cant quite face the last day just yet..thanks for the reply.......surf the slush!
  24. Is teh Catek step-in compatible right out of the box with the Burton Wind? or would i have to find a special toe or heel block to work with those.?
