  1. So my first time in Breckridge CO, I was picking up speed to coast the bottom of the run back to the quad chairs....it's a longist flat section. Super-G tuck and moving fairly quickly..next thing I know I'm flying through the air and landing hard on my shoulder. I was with a party but since I was the sole snowboarder I was on my own...as far as I know I made it back to the rental shop gave them back the 'board and boots, wandered back to the hotel in my socks and passed out on the bed. The group I was with found me at about 7pm...I was concussed so I was a little bit groggy, that plus the altitude and alcohol wiped me out for the night. Next day I go back the rental place and they are laughing it up ( once they knew I was ok ) apparently I had been asked if I wanted to go to the hospital and had declined. They still didn't think it was odd that I walked out of the shop in my socks....into the snow.... Breckridge had just let snowboards on the mountain so I guess that would make it around 1994, I think the 'board was a Burton PJ. Regards, UK2TX2CA
  2. I use DMT Alinger diamond files in mine...the slots the files/stones go into are generous and it does use a turn screw to tighten them up. I had one issue with the guide...I took the packaging off the stones ( on which is written the grit sizes ) figuring that I would remember what colour was what...two weeks later...no clue. Emailed the contact email address at 8pm on a Sunday night...one hour later I get an email back! He suggested writting the grit size on the edge of the stones with a magic marker ( which I did ). 3. Just checked my only Burton board and sure enough the serial number does have the correct digit in the fourth place.... Regards, UK2TX2CA
  4. I recommend the Ski Visions Ski Sharp as it is totally adjustable and at $55 fairly reasonable given the functionality. FWIW I use the diamond files from a DMT Alinger knife sharpener in it, just looks a bit odd with them sticking out! Regards, UK2TX2CA
  5. Hi morturio, You could have these Burton Shadows for $50 plus shipping at cost, as the deal fell through after everything <shrug> http://www.bomberonline.com/Forums/Thread.cfm?CFApp=3&&Message_ID=43856&_#Message43855 Regards, UK2TX2CA
  6. Hello Jules, You are correct, they have no information available...in fact they even refer people to BomberOnline to get information about the Stratos boots! I'm talking to "them" via Davy about improving this situation. I'll post what I find out when I get the information. Regards, UK2TX2CA
  7. Hello Jules, Great news! How much did Mel Cotton's charge for the service? Regards, UK2TX2CA
  8. Hello Jules, According to the description in the Bomber store the Stratos Pro already have liners described as "contour Thermofit liner with thermoformable". Where there any instructions about baking the liners with the boots? I would have suggested asking Davy Kammer ( DKAMMER@us.head.com ) from Head, however he's out of the office util the 18th so how about asking Fin to see if he knows? Regards, UK2TX2CA
  9. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3636884987&category=21249&rd=1 Nothing to do with the auction, just sharing..... Regards, UK2TX2CA
  10. I'm curious too, I also have the 04's on order with Dan....my searching of German eBay turned up three pairs and a reference to a bunch of UPS I had never heard of..did you know they do a foam liner! Regards, UK2TX2CA
  11. I butcher wood on occasion, I even have a stock bending rack for torturing walnut stocks...nothing like heat and pressure to make things flexible...bit like being married! Sean, search on Injection Molded WPC and you will be suprised what you find! Regards, UK2TX2CA
  12. I was planning to stay out of this.....however.....of all of the helicopter assisted trips I've seen ( mainly in the B.C. area ) the desire to provide customer with a safe, enjoyable experience results in the company providing the trip choosing avalanche free ( read shallow <25 degree ) locations relatively close ( read short air time ) locations with "hero snow".... So a s/t is not really required to master the conditions, this combined with the lack of snowtime on the their s/t, I would hazard a guess that customer does a quick calculation of the cost of said trip and says "bollocks...." and pulls out their regular 'board. What does this all mean...buggered if I know :D Regards, UK2TX2CA
  13. Hello Dan, This is from a post from TahoeCarvers.com, Jim and I were discussing how suitable the 178cm Nitro was for some weighing 165lb /75kg as Nils commented that it may be too short for someone at that weight: Jim [11-03-03 08:29] Yeah, the 178 Nitro has a pretty soft flex to it. Much less than the Winterstix I checked a year ago. We shall see. I'll be comparing it to my old 164 Santa Cruz Flame which is a little too stiff for my powder tastes. All of this may not be a big deal since I've done 3' of pow on a 151 XXX in years past...really. These Nitro's are very reasonable at $299, if, you know what you want, you are probably right about the specs. Carve On ~~~~ Regards, UK2TX2CA
