  1. That will be perfect for getting into alpine. One suggestion - if you feel uncomfortable with that stance, try putting the cant wedge under the front foot, so it slopes towards the back foot. Always experiment.
  2. The board weighed 19lbs when I weighed it for the review I wrote here. bateau.
  3. Use the UPS shipping cost estimator here: http://wwwapps.ups.com/calTimeCost?loc=en_US Use a weight of 20 pounds, and if it asks for box size, say 48 x 14 x 12 inches. Good luck.
  4. That would be sick. There have been a few rare occasions when they have a "Ski 'n Tee" special - when the slopes and the greens are both open!

  6. My boards are waxed and bagged for the summer, so this shot taken today just kills me. http://www.sugarloaf.com/images/cams/large/11139134274.19.05fullmountain.jpg
  7. I think a good streetcarver shootout would include the Flowlab Nuclear Pickle http://www.flowlab.com/pickle.html and the MBS Atom http://www.mbs.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idProduct=8 as well as the Flexboard.
  8. I don't believe the BMW board flexes. Where's csquared? He has one.
  9. This looks pretty cool. Hopefully I can do a review.... http://www.flexboardz.com/homeuk.htm
  10. Haven't seen Used Cars, but that reminds me of another great indy flick - <b>Suckers</b>, about car salesmen. Starring Daniel Denzali - that bald-headed dude that played a detective on tv 10 years ago or so. May be hard to find but well worth it. Rated R for language and brief violence. I wouldn't be surprised if Used Cars was the Big Hollywood rip-off of Suckers. <b>Nate</b> - I want you to think hard before you subject your s.o. to Poltergeist!! I don't know how I would handle seeing that movie for the first time now, but I saw it when I was like 10 and I didn't sleep for weeks!! Effed me up big time!
  11. Because at some point, they cease to be "skis" and become "snowblades". I guess. They might in slalom. I think the FIS rule was adopted after some dude showed up to a slalom race on 148s or something. I can accept that, but the radius rule really mystifies me. The radius should be up to the racer, and any radius should be fair game. It's not like sidecut is some sort of cheater gimmick.
  12. This movie is about 15 years old I think, but it is the best con-man movie I've ever seen. Really great. Very smart and very little violence or swearing (iirc, it's been a while). Totally sucks you in. It stars the grossly underrated Joe Mantegna, and a bunch of talented unknowns.
  13. Dude. Mallrats was so better than Dogma. Dogma was too much like a real movie.
  14. Boards are away for the summer, so let fly with the OT posts! I'll start: <b>Napolean Dynamite</b>. Hard to describe, but wicked good. It's about a socially inept highschool weirdo/nerd/outcast and his bizarre existence. Makes you laugh by its sheer weirdness, not because it's trying to be funny. No further explanation necessary, just rent it. Trust me. And if you haven't heard of this movie, it's a sign that you're simply uncool and out of touch. :D What else?
  15. meheheheh. Mirror's had the Beckman chip implanted. Frappe - you may be on to something, but as long as shorter boards have those silly 9-10m sidecuts, I'm not interested in them for anything other than steep ice or spending time with noobs down on the greens.
  16. I think you would be <i>sorely</i> remiss not to investigate Catek Freerides. You can get them with the Nidecker 900 straps. I haven't ridden softboots in a few years so I haven't tried them but I've heard that the responsiveness of those bindings has caused several "epiphanies" on the first run.
  17. I don't think I called a 4WD a "race" board, as they clearly aren't. I'm just amused whenever someone comes along and achieves success on unconventional equipment that everyone "knows" shouldn't work. I was being a bit melodramatic and facetious when I said "what do I know". I don't really think that 170s are about to take over GS racing, or that they even could.
  18. Well I certainly didn't see the Prior 4WDs coming either! I know the "rules" of what <i>should</i> work for GS racing. Then there are the exceptions. Congratulations Steve!! Can't wait to try a titanal board on "normal" carving conditions. :D
  19. Sometimes when I think I've got things all figured out, someone comes along and dashes that perception on the rocks. Like the time I raced in the (long defunct) New England Cup when it came to Sugarloaf. I thought I was going to rule the GS on my PJ7, but Mike Kildevaald showed up and eurocarved the course on a PJ<b>5</b> and crushed the rest of the field by about 2 seconds. So if suddenly 170s became all the rage in GS racing, I'd be dumbfounded, but what do I know? (pretty sure it was Kildy)
  20. That blows my mind. I would have thunk the 170 too turny for GS racing. Congrats Madd!
  21. I believe www.panoramafactory.com does this to some degree. One thing you can do with your camera to help make seamless panoramas is to use a manual exposure, and leave it the same for each shot. bigger version (390kb)
  22. <a href="http://www.yyzcanuck.com" target="top">YYZ Canuck</a> and <a href="http://www.evilsports.com" target="top">Evil Sports</a> will be back again in 06! More to come...
  23. Try not to reach down for the snow and also don't bend over at the waist. You won't have much balance in this position. Think about dropping your hips into the carve and keeping a quiet, more upright upper body, and level shoulders, like this or this. Check out the articles here on "The Norm". It's a good idea to stay off the steeps while learning how to carve. You can't learn anything while you're just trying to make it down alive!
  24. I think the waist width of the Madd BX is closer to the Incline.
  25. Although... the shape of the Madd BX is closer to an Incline than an Axis.
