  1. Fissile 161: If I stay with this shape, I'm starting to lean towards the Donek Nomad 154/159 because I'd like to try out the variable SCR on a freeride board. Swoard Dual 163: Thanks for the reminder. After further research, it seems like the Dual is more for carving and less for powder. It's probably the most expensive board that I'm considering. Tanker 162: specs are almost identical to the Dual 163. However, I haven't been able to find any reviews on the new rockered 162 version. Ferburg 162: although this shape does not carve well on groomers (according to a number of reviews), I'm getting really interested in it because of it's all-around back-country performance. After owning the Dupraz for a number of years, the following are spots where I've had problems with the board * hard/icy crust over deep powder: the wide nose caught on the icy crust resulting in a nice face plant. Probably the most difficult pow conditions I've ridden in. * hard, chunky moguls have caught the wide tail. The design of the Ferburg seems like it might make the harder off-piste conditions easier to ride. If that's true, I'd be willing to slarve turns on groomers on the way to the pow and moguls.
  2. I currently have a Dupraz 5’5” (165cm) which I ride with soft boots. As expected the Dupraz works great in open powder. It also carves pretty good. I can get totally laid-out, armpit dragging EC style turns on my toeside with the Dupraz on good conditions. I boot-out on heel side EC turns. However, the Dupraz feels too heavy/long when going through moguls. I’m 5’7”, 135 lb. So I’m looking for a board that can match the Dupraz in powder and carving groomers, but also be lighter/shorter for moguls and tight tree runs. I’ve read some rave reviews on the rockered Rad Air Tankers, so the new Tanker 162 is on the top of my list. Has anybody compared the Tanker vs the Dupraz? I’ve tried the older, cambered Tanker 172 in the past, but it was too long/heavy for the moguls. I’m also tempted to get a 5’2” Dupraz (158cm) for better mogul performance, but I’m worried I might lose too much carving ability with the shorter length. In the past, I’ve had the original Burton Fish 156MD (great in pow/moguls, bad for carving) and OSin 168 (great pow, decent carving). Any other recommendations?
  3. Conditions looked really good Makes me want to hit the slopes! Like Kerry, I picked surfing (plus Tebow Time) over snowboarding.
  4. I voted for Jan. 1., but then realized holiday rates end an Jan. 7. Season Pass Blackout date ends on Dec. 31 (Midweek+Sun pass good for Jan. 1). Since I didn't get a season pass, I want to change my vote to Jan. 8th :p Just to set the record straight, I was NOT born in Florida.
  5. Looks like I'll have to miss my first SNES:(. Will probably be traveling on business. My friend, Robert, called me this morning from June Mtn. He said carving conditions and weather were just absolutely PERFECT!!!
  6. +1 for Deer Bowl. Personally, I much prefer Deer Bowl over Gunsmoke:AR15firin
  7. That knee patch embroidery is just an old WaveRave logo (yes the shop in Mammoth). There is a reinforcement patch on both knees, but logo is only on one knee. No repairs were made or needed. Snowboard pants are circa 1995. Those snowboard pants have outlasted all my other gear! They don't make em like they use to.
  8. I had a great time as usual carving up a few runs with the crew. Thanks again to Andrea for for the awesome pics Andrea, I tried to get Aaron to wait for you before taking the group photo. I'll try to be more persuasive next time.
  9. Yes, that is a strange looking pose:lol: in my defense, Robert is behind me (you can bearly see his goggles), and he was telling me to move over so he could get in the pic.
  10. Hey Julian, you've really improved Looking forward to the video.
  11. Same here, barring rain, I'll be there for my first day of the season :)
  12. Do we use the Ride Board to set up a Black Ops party?? Just leaving Perris for the LBC:biggthump
  13. I will be there by the official 7:30 pm start time. Well, assuming there are no disasters at work or the 405.
  14. Quit complaining. We meet in your area almost weekly during the season.
  15. I'm cool with Belmount Brewing Co.
  16. Good surf this weekend, so I won't be joining you guys. Julian, what happened to the "end of season BBQ" video?
  17. Here's my personal favorite from SNES, also taken by Loc. The Kessler 180cm was on loan from GeorgeS. That Kessler is without a doubt, the best EC board I've ridden. I also got to try out the Kessler in a race course, but the timer was broken, so I didn't know for sure if my times improved when switching from my Coiler Schtubby to the Kessler. At least I felt faster and more confident on the Kessler.
  18. I got the iPhone3G. I bought the phone used because I didn't want the unlimited data plan for $30/month. I can type faster on the iPhone virtual keypad than I could on my old Palm Centro.
  19. Yeah, I remember the tighter course that we didn't time. The only reason it took me more tries to make the tightest course is because I was riding the LDP. When I switched to the slalom board (that you used), it only took me a few tries to make a clean run. And I was the only person to make the tightest course on the LDP and the slalom board Now quit posting, and load up the VIDEO!!!
  20. I'm in for some more slalom action. As long as the surf isn't good, I'll be able to meet up. And whenever you guys want something steeper, we can meet in Mission Viejo again.
  21. Hey, I won the race before lunch, when the cones were set tighter/more technical!!! I'd post the times, but I don't remember them. I just know I won by a lot Three cheers for Mike and Jenny, I had a great time at the shindig And thanks to Bullwings for providing the slalom boards and cones
  22. I'll bring beer. Glad to hear Marines will be representing at the shindig!!! Robert, my surf buddy / part-time carver will also show. So Mike, what is the official word, are we meeting at Bear or Summit?
  23. I'll join the crew for Sunday. Driving south to surf Trestles, then carving and halfpipe for Sunday:biggthump
