  1. The black stuff is a combination of things. Grease and oil from snowcats, fireplace ash, and who knows what else. Riding Stratton last Thurs and Fri, it didn't get too slushy on the lower mt. til around 1PM or so. I did crash several times in the slush, but my Coiler RC 180 seemed to handle it well if I wasn't too aggressive. 'Tis going fast, alas
  2. You should get your side edge done on a ceramic disc grinder @2deg. Make sure the tech knows what he's doing. If you want more, you can go to 3deg. I've ridden a Ballistic 155 at times-super turny, but stiff!
  3. It's a nice name, though. Coupla years back, I met a woman from Derry named Caoimhe. Try pronouncing that! 'KEEvee' is the most common, evidently. Although, with that Derry accent, it was a bit different.
  4. Haha, guess again. One her friends is Aisling, and her sister Fiona's close friend is Aisling as well. We had to give 'em all nicknames. Sweet Irish roses all.
  5. Congrats, Aisling. W/ a license you shouldn't be unemployed for long, I wouldn't think. I have a cousin Aisling in Co Kerry btw.:D
  6. I ski in Kryptons, but they're too unforgiving as SB boots, even with the softer tongues. I'll stick with the Suzukas for carving.
  7. Thanks all. I'll try to get a pic soon. The discs are 4x4. The plates are the small or medium size(my boots are 24.5).
  8. Most rear-entry type boots were what used to be known as a constant-volume shell. Meaning that when you tightened the various cables, you were only tightening the liner, which could then move inside the shell. An overlap two-piece, or three-piece Cabriolet shell design is much more effective at holding the foot securely and transfering energy to the ski or board. Yes, I am a boot fitter.
  9. Yep. Elan 82XTi 168-15.4m sidecut. Since the ECES, I've been riding exclusively, however.
  10. ;)Oh yeah, duh. I was 'fraid ya were a gummint man.
  11. How'd ya know I ride TD1s?:D Yes, they're the Olympic Standard, set up for a mondo 24.5 Deeluxe. I'll try to post photos. As to price, hmmm....
  12. I have a set I would like to sell. They are the older style with the large discs. They are in excellent condition. They're simply too stiff for me-can't ride 'em. Many thanks, Murphy12.
  13. I think I overheard part of Geoff's conversation, haha. Often asked if: It's a monoski. It's harder than snowboarding. I do jumps. I've also had a complaint or two about ruts. Or, that I use the whole slope.
  14. Hello from Stratton. Nice to see the ECES back again. I didn't realise it was happening until Tuesday, but since Stratton is my home hill, I was able to make a couple of days. Getting back into alpine after a bit of a layoff-I didn't know how much I missed carving! Nice to see Brammer, et al again as well. Best to all, Murphy12.
