  1. Exactly on the wear prevention and traction. It elevates and protects the entire bottom and part of the side of the boot plus the intec pins when waking around. The Sidas seem well built and substantial, so if you want to place homemade studs in them, they could handle that. Big caution; I’m using Intecs under relaxed conditions; not stuck upside down in deep powder, needing to release fast. Definitely pay attention to advice from @philw in regards to getting free from the board in tree wells; he spends a ton of time riding powder. People have had intec release cables break. I do notice that the release works perfect when there’s no lateral tension on the boot in the binding, but with heavy lateral tension, it’s clunky and won’t release.
  2. Excuse the crappy drawing; I don’t have the boots with me. I use Sidas Ski Boot Protectors. They fit boots without Intecs nice, but don’t quite work with Intecs installed unless you add the strap to crank through the Sidas heel loop and the Deeluxe boot forward lean adjustment. I cut down a 2 cm wide Coghlan sleeping bag strap ($4.95 per pair) and thread it through the gap as shown with this ski boot cleverly doctored to look like a Deeluxe.
  3. I have limited experience with step ins, and only with F2 titanium. I now run a step in for the rear foot because of flexibility issues with trying to clip in rear leg with my stance angles and me being older. They were easy to set up and I can just aim the toe, click in fast, quick check the hold ( @slabber taught me that), then ride, without ever having to sit. Release is quick, solid and precise. That said, do listen to what others say about durability and flex of F2 versus Trenchdiggers. Trenchdiggers and fintecs have great reviews. To protect my intec heel, I use a high quality ski boot protector, rigged with a 2 cm wide Coghlans sleeping bag strap to hold it on, looped through the forward angle adjuster on my Deeluxe 325’s.
  4. You got it. Sounds like A-Basin fun from Colorado days. Slush waves are the best. Perhaps I will be moving up to the Coiler 166 and be less noob-like. The flakes on Wednesday were almost an inch wide but that rain was not welcome.
  5. Reading this on a business trip, missing the snow and laughing at that line. Thanks for the laughs.
  6. One of the most unusual Coiler top sheet graphics. Nicely done. Donek base graphic is likewise impressive on previous board.
  7. Ok, thanks for the info. Sounds like a better deal.
  8. Sounds great; safe travels and heal fast. I’m curious how was the illumination, trail width, trail availability or selection or other factors different from Sundance? Glad you made the choice to travel with the boards and explore; beats watching television or throwing darts.
  9. Never been there. @dropthebody is probably familiar with it.
  10. Lots of positives, especially for a close by place. Fun affordable area, uncrowded, with friendly people. Good lighting once they clicked them on. Big jumps in terrain park for thrill seekers or for entertainment while riding lifts. Bet the rest of the trails are good. Good snow, no corduroy but pretty darn smooth. We did not explore many of the trails that night but did endure the world’s longest, narrow cat trail with crazy drop offs and semi swerving skiers/boarders one time. Short drive up to the place off the main highway was epic. Also, FREE ample parking after 2 pm and very short walk to lift. Only other negative which is not Robert Redford’s fault was the deer piñatas in the highway at night for me, but there’s way more of those towards Soldier Summit.
  11. …and this is what the uncrowded slopes of Sundance looked like yesterday evening. No lift lines, all friendly people, inexpensive lift tickets and great weather.
  12. Oh, Park City got 31” last night. Visiting buddy from Florida is up there today. 5 th chair up and he said the snow is crazy. Evening boarding at Sundance should be fun. Looking forward to it.
  13. Holy crap. I will keep checking this forum messaging. I have a Coiler 166 all mountain set up with F2’s. It’s an option. Do you use intec or fintec heels? If no, all we have to do is change out the rear heel (I’ve got the parts and tools) rotate the bindings to your stance angle and snug them up to your boots. I have redundant parts/boards.
  14. No, Thursday I was the old dude on the Burton Flight Attendant with F2 titaniums and white Deeluxe 325’s. Low wind, sunny, mostly clear skies and no crowds. Snowcat skiing/boarding would have been perfect. I learned from PhilW how to rig F2’s to fit the Burton Channel System.
  15. Probably for you guys. I’m currently not ready for moguls. Got most of my new gear sorted, so that’s cool. I’m stoked to try a new area. You picked an excellent time to snowboard! Conditions should be great. Went to Solitude yesterday and they have received over 540” of snow. Great place, lift lines were maybe 2-3 minutes tops. Plenty of steep terrain for people looking for that. The grooming on runs was really suspect. Had one of the first chairs up at 8 am and zero corduroy was seen; really odd and I used to work at two ski areas. Looked like it was groomed the day before in the morning and heavily skied/boarded for 24 hours. Been shoveling snow all morning at my house. Park City and Solitude received about 20” of fresh last night. This morning, it’s still snowing at 1” an hour.
  16. Sounds great. I guess pick a spot or I’ll try to research that and locate one to meet.
  17. Dang, I went there today. Was driving back to Utah, stopped at Loveland and couldn’t believe the Thursday crowds. Kids out on spring break already? I-70 was ridiculous leading up to the tunnel from Denver. So I bailed, scooted over to Ski Cooper and had a blast. Wide runs, if you want them. They have a nice lodge and a brew pub. Free, ample parking. Great place to just do your own thing, everyone was positive and low key.
  18. That looks awesome. I’d do that all day long and be happy as a clam. How many of us started out as kids hiking, with soft boots and riding our first boards on every hill we could find? I say that’s a fine place to ride powder. Sweet board too.
  19. Yeah, that slot is all wavey and goofy looking. Very odd.
  20. 23” at Park City overnight …hope we get another dump before you show up.
  21. No problem. I followed your advice and it’s working slick, without flopping around. For some reason, I had trouble attaching photos earlier and everyone had to rely on my description. All good now.
  22. Yeah it looks like the 6.5 mm refers to the boot heel if the boots do not have inserts. My mistake. On page 8 of the F2 plate binding manual, it shows the Bowden cable exiting a slot on the upper side of the boot cuff. That slot roughly corresponds to an indentation on the inside of the boot plastic, on the outboard portion of both of my Deeluxe boots. Thanks for the warning about repeated folding and subsequent breaking.
  23. Nice video! My wife used to help out there, from time to time, years ago. She got me to try the area and I enjoyed it. Totally different experience than any other place I had been to or worked at. No glamour, no jet set, lots of history, a good business to support. No crowds, endless untracked powder for their inexpensive snow cat trips to the back bowl. I only have one interesting story about the place. Funniest cat ride I ever had was there, as the lone snowboarder on the trip, early 90’s, sitting there quietly in my hard shell boots and full face helmet, as the out-of-state skiers made endless cracks about snowboarders and yucked it up. Wife smiled, knowing what was next. Got out of the cat, clipped into the plate bindings, zipped down the bowl and ended up waiting what seemed to be 10-15 minutes for the skiers to navigate down to the pick up spot. I enjoyed the silence on the next trip up. No smack talk, just wife and I smiling at each other, suppressing the giggles. Each subsequent ride down was quiet. Looks like they still run the cat tours so I’d recommend that.
  24. Ok, sounds good. It looked like it ran up the inside of the shell and then exited out the aforementioned 6.5 mm hole. Thanks for the quick answer so I don’t go putting extra holes in the boots.
