To me it looks like plenty of snow at the top, and the snow on the trees is a positive indicator. At the bottom . . . well, that's looking a little sparse. Hoping it's not sparser next week.

Forgot to mention, that on Wednesdays through Saturdays the Snoqualmie resorts are open until 9pm for night skiing.

I live in Seattle and ski both Crystal and Snoqualmie Summit often. Assuming you're hardboot carving (as opposed to skiing), and based on your Buttermilk green/blue comment here's my recommendation: Go to Summit West (one of the four Summit-at-Snoqualmie options) on Wednesday afternoon -- West is closed Monday and Tuesday and they open at 2pm on Wednesday after a thorough grooming overnight Tuesday (I assume; they might groom on Monday for all I know.) The pitch is a consistent green-blue, and while there's not quite 700 feet of vertical, the one chairlift accesses a half-mile-wide field just ready for trench time. You'll drive up in an hour, you'll carve your legs into oblivion in 2-3 hours, and the Timberwolf bar is one of the nicest places for an after-sesh beer or cocktail. Sixty more minutes down I-90 and you can be home for dinner. This works any weekday with no lift lines, but Wednesdays are best IMHO. If you can only carve on weekends, Summit West is good for carving but get there early as they open at 9am, and the parking lots will fill up with ski school families and general mayhem. Crystal might be a better bet on weekends; a bit crowded, but the high speed lifts help. Forest Queen chair is the ticket for great grooming and high-speed six person uphill returns. Crystal has higher elevation, which can mean snow at Crystal when there's rain at Snoqualmie. For me, the short drive to Snoqualmie combined with mid-week lack of crowds tips the scales. But check the weather, and hit me up for a carve session!

Any ETA on the video that was shot at MCC 2022? I'm speaking of the interviews and on-piste footage filmed, much of it on Day 3. (Wasn't there on Day 4, so don't know if more video happened.) Is there an MCC 2022 video project in the works?

@Soultrencher - I've been carving more this season than in years. My local secret is Wednesday nights at Summit West. They're closed Monday & Tuesday, and groom the heck out of the snow. Get on the first chair at 4pm for hours of zipper fun and no lift lines. Apres ski beers at the Timberwolf. Off to Montucky Clear Cut this week, but should be back at West on Wednesday Feb 9th.

It looks like folks are coming to Montucky Clear Cut from all over the country, so I thought it would be appropriate to bring a few of the best local brews to share for tailgating. Easy if you're driving to MCC, but folks flying can stuff a few cans in their boots in the checked luggage, right? Here are a few seasonal on-theme selections coming from Seattle. Look for the Sol Sunguard tent, my buddy Steve is one of the MCC sponsors! (Is that the Mono-Dude on the Fresh Corduroy IPA?)

We'll be at Schweitzer on Sunday -- look for hard boots and Washington state license plates.

Does anyone recognize this board's year and model? I'm thinking it's from around 2004, maybe. I picked up the board and bindings on Craigslist about two seasons ago. Never mounted, never used. It's my only carving board, works great, yet I'm itching to try something with a more modern sensibility. MCC demo days, here I come!

I'm totally ready for MCC, after two years of watching from afar. I'm especially stoked to demo some gear that's less than 20 years old! My current set up was a lucky Craigslist find; a brand spanking, never-mounted, never used Rossignol 168cm from an I-don't-even-know-what era (early 2000's maybe?), so comparing this nice old board to some modern side cuts will be interesting! Carving has been a way to squeeze high-adrenaline excitement out of the many no-fresh-snow groomer days in the Pacific Northwest. See y'all at Turner!
