whenever I say to my fellow softbooters, that the carving tech is mostly the same, they want to rip my eyes out...
When did the Slapa start softbooting?

@scottishsurferI hunted down macca setups from some of the mclaren drivers for every track if you want them I can shoot them to your email
-
Dunno mate, better talk to Alexey from OES.

Would you say titanal for a first carving board?
Yep.
Can you carve on your current board to some extent?
Have you looked into OES? Oxess? Coiler? Size 14 is a pretty gigantic boot. Might be worth sussing out how much width you need before locking in any manufacturer. You might find it difficult to find a titanal board wide enough. Maybe a carbon top oxess would be good. But $$$$

These days, I wouldn't consider a board unless it is titanal.
What angles do you run?

Ah man that monitor must look amazing. The panels Apple use are so damn good. Lucky you, I'm jealous.
Oh wow you got up to speed super quick. That's a good effort. I put $2 kids' basketballs sliced in the middle around the rear office chair wheels and that essentially held it in place. So I could hammer the brakes and I wouldn't go flying backwards into another dimension. My pedal softened a bit over time, maybe yours will too.
I'll hunt for a good setup for macca/monza.In the meantime, feel free to set this to 1080p and watch me struggle to not inadvertently drift the entire track. Not the best lap but super sketchy and a laugh to watch.

@scottishsurfer I can hunt down a decent macca setup if you like . Which track is it?
Is that..........an apple monitor?

Well ive bought a logitech G923 wheel which should be in my grubby hands friday
Wow that was fast! Let me know when you feel the vibe for a few laps and I'll spin up a server! Word on the street is that @Corey might be down at some point also!
I'm going to start going around Kyalami tonight for about 1 hour in the Audi most likely.

Ah man does that bring back memories!

Also the first Monza chicane is the worst bit of track design ever

Oh... I got ya! Fan of MotoGP for PC Here!!
Baz you could try ACC and we could make an ASB group
-
@scottishsurfer Nice! I guess GT Sport and ACC should both have kind of similar physics. But I don't really know, just guessing.
I'm using a second hand thrustmaster wheel. I got the wheelbase, wheel and pedals all used. Bought the cheapest cockpit I could find and that's what I'm currently using for it
There are lots of guys using xbox and ps pads and they're super fast. Way faster than me. I'm garbage. But I have more fun doing this than any other hobby recently!

It does not sound like you really 'need' a new board*.
Kind of sounds like every board purchase for me ever.

This guy has been around on the internet for decades. He spent a looong time building up the persona and that's what makes him some money. A lot of the stuff he says is tongue in cheek and to generate discussion, and well, this thread exists, so it's working.
Don't expect him to change his stance on his "views" any time soon and definitely don't take anything offensive he says personally, that's just what he does.
Good on him I say. Page 2 .. longer than a lot of threads have gone

This is literally the specs of my board in my profile photo, except mine has allflex inserts. Just sayin...
Marcel told me a few years back about Nevin's favourite board specs for free carving (although he said he preferred carbon top, I still opted for titanal/ptex), ever since then I wanted to try it, so got one delivered.
Nice N has his name on a board now though. A pro model hardboot board is something pretty cool.
Can't wait to never actually be allowed to ride mine, that's gonna be awesome.

Shots fired!! LOL awesome! Somebody noticed us!! No such thing as bad press, right? Took him long enough, where has he been?
working on rebuttal...
I thought el_snowboardo disappeared into his angry snowboarder blog once snowboard.com disappeared, but to my delight I found him active again on his youtube channel recently. To be honest, I love the guy & respect his work. He worked hard to build up that persona, good on him.
I remember he gave me advice on a Salomon Burner about 20 years ago or something and it was an amazing board. -
What a community. You guys are the best.

Right yeah so setting in game to 900 and then setting your logitech software to 900 will actually sync your wheel's lock to the exact steering lock that each car has. This is compatible with fanatec, thrustmaster, logitech gear only, though. So you don't need to manually set it in game for each individual car if you do the 900/900 thing.
Then you can just adjust the steering ratio up or down in setup. I usually use a pretty high steering ratio. Usually around 1 click down from max. But I'm slow.
Have you given the 720 a shot? Should be superior to the 650 in every way of I remember correctly. You may be able to beat your times with relative ease! Essentially handles the same with the same super early trail braking technique, though. I think tc 1 is the go for the 720, though.
Most fast setups I've tried generally try to murder you at any chance haha.
