Gerald - i love looking back at these and i think - you have come a long way bro!

whats funny though, at the time i would think that i have reached an absolute max of my ability - a wall!

    how perspective changes...

  2. Boot - definitely MS951 with Zipfit liners

Board - hmm all depends what you want out of the board.

My personal fav with best money to value ratio is polish made Nobile. Full camber and very lively.

Oxess rides the best out of all the gear that I have ridden, however I cannot justify the price difference for the amount additional fun vs say Nobile or Apex snowboards.

But hey I am cheap so it might be different to you!

All in all - as you probably noticed through the clip, board hinders my riding least....

  3. hi all,

wanted to share a clip showing my progression through the years, since I have put on hard boots, some of you probably seen this before, at least in pieces - decided to put it together finally.

i still do have many problems, but at least i know where the edges are finally.

to all the strugglers out there - take it easy and keep on riding!

any advice on what to do next appreciated!

  4. Ladies and Gents,

friend of mine made a very costly mistake.

he bought recently a brand new pair of the latest UPZ RCR 2022 - used them 4 times and decided they are too big.

he is looking to offload them.

state is almost like new, bar a few scratches.

this is the latest construction with four buckles, front mounted tongue and new RCR spring box.

he is asking 500 euro plus shipping

    PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP HIM!

I was tech stupid before being hit. I won't claim to have gotten any more proficient. Ask for more pictures via smoke signals or other fancy tech and ye shall receiveth them. Until I have time to put together a nicer presentation, here's a teaser....

this was my board before - Signed by Sigi on the Carve camp in 2018 i think.

Super fun ride - my usual daily driver as well.

@alpinegirl- sorry to hear about your accident!

More importantly, are you married?!?  How did you lay the groundwork for getting that accepted?  I’m already sweating and conniving how I’m going to justify a new Virus next year!

come on! Viruses are not that trendy since like 2 years now.... Jesus....

Note that the spherical video from these consumer 360 cameras (including all the current "action" ones) is typically 5.6K or some such, which is obviously bigger than 4k. However if you are cropping a conventional 2D video out of that sphere, then you're not using most of those pixels, hence the actual video quality is not very good or clear - it's much lower/ worse than the 4k you can get from any modern GoPro for example. Hence I'm waiting for a lightweight 360 camera capable of being cropped down to 4k: then I'll be happy. Well for a while 😉

That said about the resolution of the Vid, note that content watched on mobile devices an most pc monitors will be actually all right.

How many of you have got 4k monitors ?

Issue becomes apparent when watching on TV.

For watching on TV it's worth looking at the Hugh Hou tutorials on how to export for best quality

I'm talking about an Allflex GS longitudinal cut "soft" plate - solid, no springs, no H cut outs.  I love it on my GS board.  But on my SL and 168 it just didn't let the board bend enough.  YMMV

The Allflex Spring Plate worked fabulously on my SL, it's just very heavy.

    That's crazy.

I had the same exact plate with soft stiffness too.

Rode it on oxess 164 medium and nobile 166 with ptex and I couldn't complain how they had worked.

    Oxess

    Nobile

Also the weight didn't seem so much of a problem for carving. For sliding and holding in your hand maybe.

  9. Not sure whats the issue with the allflex on @Jack Mboards - why it wouldnt let you carve?

mind you there is a third option for allflex insert pattern - Sinline and so far it has been working great for me with stellar hold that doesnt sacrifice the feel of the snow, like it did with Apex X plate.

Dont get me wrong Apex X rode really good, but I just didnt like the detached feeling.

I mainly ride man made snow/ice so plates come in really handy even though I am just a carver not a racer.

  10. Don't see why would you pay the extra for SG bindings.

I can understand bomber being made out of different material to F2s.

SGs are just an evolution of F2s at more then double the price?

How many racers actually race SG bindings ?

And yes I did have SGs.

  11. Right,

I finally had a chance to ride both the race mounts and the carve mounts.

on both the grip of the board/plate is immense, however with my nobile race the race mounts work much better.

When discussed with Gaspar he told me the race mounts work better for short/slalom turns and give back much more energy at the turn exit. This became apparent only after riding in a much steeper terrain.

I have a medium flex plate with medium flex board.

a bit of footage riding black diamonds and the reds.
