  2. Was at Tremblant again today. Hard ice all morning.....slushy afternoon. We had way better conditions when we went. Awesome to meet you guys. Can't wait til next season. James
  3. Don't trust my car to make the trip.....plus the muffler just fell off so it sounds like a beast. Ian, I would hitch a ride with you if you don't mind. Can't wait to meet the others! James
  4. Looking for a 2nd board kit for td3s. Preferably shipped from within Canada. Thanks James
  5. I would love to join if this trip goes down on the Thursday of that week. James
  6. What bindings do you use with them? Any compatibility issues?
  7. I came across the Full Tilt ski boots website the other day. Couldn't help but notice all of the specs are very similar to what was advertised for the Deeluxe line of hardboots. Has anyone tried using these for harboot carving applications? If so, care to comment? My main concern would be the boots fitting properly into the binding bails on a hardboot setup. Thoughts? James
  8. Took my new boots and thermoflex liners to a local store....they did a crap job. Then I bought some toe caps and followed the bomber diy videos (2 parts) On youtube. Wow! What a diffference. It worked great! ...my 2 cents James
  9. lol.....Local hill might as well be a personal hill on the weekdays....even with a few inches of fresh! Hey Ian, Yes I would definitely take you up on that offer. Would you consider Mont Ste Marie? Are you available weekdays? Less crowded is all. Although now that March break is over crowds usually drop off anyways. Sending you a message right now.
  10. Was there last Wednesday......got a sunburn.....it was awesome! Conditions were winter at the top and spring started about 1/3 of the way down the mountain. Fingers crossed that they have some snow left in April!
  11. Hey Lowrider, Found the Stainless Steel Metric screws.....needed 25mm screws for this application vs the 20mm ones that come with the TD3s. No hex drives in the city apparently....had to go with philips head......seemed to do the trick quite nicely. Anyway thanks again for the input. James
  12. Hello Everyone, 1st season on a carving setup coming to an end. Unfortunately was unable to hook up with any other hardbooters just yet. Just looking for a little feedback is all. All critiques and criticisms are welcome. Video is a little shaky but you get the idea. Kudos to my girlfriend for all the encouragement ;) thanks James
  13. Finally got these plates bolted on and tested them out. Thanks for the super fast shipping! These things are awesome!
  14. Trying to mount TD3 bindings to S flex plates. Standard issue TD3 mounting screws are too short. Does anyone have an idea of which screws to use and if so where to get them. Couldn't find anything but replacement screws on Bomber store. Any help would be appreeciated. James
  15. Sounds great! Any specific recommendations for Lake Louise?
  16. Hey Guys, Does Sunshine have decent intermediate carving runs? JK
  17. As a new comer to the sport as well I actually find the "one foot out" part much easier than soft boots. The boot stiffness restricts ankle movement such that putting you back foot on the board is almost not necessary. I played around on the flats at the bottom before attempting the lift line. Maybe try the same. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I definitely was. Have fun!
  18. I am heading to Le Massif at the start of February. Can anyone comment on their favorite cruising runs? Which runs would be best to practice some drills for a new carver? thanks JK
  19. I have an older Donek Pilot 172cm with F2 race titanium bindings. Let me know if you are interested. Sounds like you might be looking for a shorter board. I would sell bindings only if you haven't found anything yet. Let me know.
  20. Ha! That may take a few more seasons for me! Challenge accepted!
  21. @Monk @Duke Also very new to the sport. 5 days on the slopes using an entirely new carving setup. Board boots bindings. I have had all of the same problems you guys are describing. I read a lot of these articles people are talking about. Tried many suggested setups. 2 things I learned in my 1st week. 1. Never leave home without your tools. Constant adjustments were needed. Finally found a usable combination of angles, cants and lifts, on day 3. Many tweaks to go. I found that the suggested starting point for binding setup from some of those articles was completely wrong for me. 2. Be persistent and don't get discouraged! I was of the mind that a successful day on the slopes was all about mileage. I kept forgetting that it took me 20 years and multiple setups to learn my now preferred setup on soft boot gear. So a day with only 5 runs made me feel like a failure. There was so much adjusting of bindings and boots and technique. My favorite was the attempt to lower the binding angles thinking it would make the transition to eventual steeper ones easier. I did a full superman head 1st flight every toe side turn. I was booting out like a champ. By mid day on Day 3 I was fed up and back in soft boots. Day 4 things started coming together. Linking turns and completely astounded to see my tracks from the lift. Deep deep carves and almost no transition from edge to edge. My newest problem. Day 5 finished with a massive headache! It turns out I was holding my breath every run for some reason. I now have to remind myself to breathe properly on every turn. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Kinda weird. That's where I am at. Just left town for a 2 week business trip. I can't wait to get back to it. It will be a very long 2 weeks for me. Definitely looking for tips and suggestions that others found useful when they were starting out. Hope to hear about how you guys progress! Happy riding! JK
  22. Hey guys. Thanks for the warm welcome. I will definitely make it out for a few Tuesday nights before the season ends. Unfortunately work can get in the way. If only snowboarding could somehow become work....hmmmmmm. Loopback - thanks for the info. I will post when I go. Mostly do weekdays at Mont St Marie. Pretty quiet there. The groom lasts all day. Hilux- I did buy some gear this fall. I had an old Donek pilot from 2005/2006. It was giving me problems....mostly using the wrong ski boots. Bought an F2 Speedster with td3 bindings and deeluxe track 325 boots. A lot of tweaking to do all at once. Slowly getting there. More experimenting needed. Went with a shorter 163 to hopefully get comfortable on the steeps. In any case I am super excited about this new setup. Complete one track mind whenever I am off the hill. Can't wait to meet up with some others. See you soon.
  23. Whoa!!!!!! Just found this thread! Not trying to hi jack. Just started my "carving career" after 20+ years on soft boots. Had no idea that there were any other like minded people in the area. I just never see anyone else doing it. Peter introduced himself to me at Mont Ste. Marie this past weekend and told me to look up this forum. Was wondering if there would be room for one more on any weeknight outings this season? Would love some pointers. Its all still so new to me! Any thoughts, info, suggestions?
