  1. Joe Sure, I'll bring them with me on Saturday. Are you there this Sat? I was going to bring them anyway. NickG may not have his new boots yet and I offer him. Have not heard from him yet. Wasn't me on the Donek. Don't have one and I only started on alpine boards three years ago. I should be getting a Prior 4X4 169 on Friday. Maybe I'll put the FR2's on that for Saturday. If NickG isn't riding it, its yours. Eric
  2. This looks good and safe for the summer:
  3. Even if this does not work 100% the first time, it costs little (other than an uncomfortable run or two) to try different configurations. I had to taper the edges so that they were smoother. The original set up had two layers of rectangles. The edges really read through the liners. I used a razor knife to carve the edges down. I still want to sand them a bit. and if I go too far I will just peel it off and do it again.
  4. Pretty much eliminated. I used to have to really crank down hard on the second buckle. Then the outside of my foot ached. I also added 1/8" lifts under the heals and they are duct taped down to the inside of the shell. Now I can just use light to normal tension and all is good.
  5. Why don't you try this first? Item #SPK-BFF8 :$6.95 Boot Fitting Foam from Tognar. http://tognar.com/boot_heater_warmer_fitting_dryer_canting_dryers_ski_snowboard.html They also have precut pads that go around your heel.
  6. Whitworth? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Standard_Whitworth
  7. I have a pair of Catek FR2's also. They are stiff as hell. Only 4x4 disks, but you are welcome to try them. Let me know.
  8. NickG, Did you line up boots and bindings? I will be up at Blue this Saturday. I can bring along a board for you to ride if you haven't lined up a board yet. If my new stuff comes in by Friday, I will have a set of Catek OS Short plates for you to borrow too. Let me know. Eric
  9. +1 I sure did. Really sucks.
  10. I measure 10.25" which results in 26 Mondo. I bought 26-26.5 boots and they were WAY big. I saw a post recently that says that there is a two finger rule??? You should be able to get two fingers behind your heel with your bare foot in the shell with no liner. http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=280346&postcount=19 and http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=280453&postcount=20. I could stack three fingers easily. I don't know what kind of shoes you wear or how wide your feet are. (Ignoring my statement to forget the shoe size) I wear 8 1/2 shoes, but my feet are average width with narrow heels. As said elsewhere, street shoe size is a very loose definition. I had to take up all kinds of volume with 1/8" shims under the heels and hard foam pads on either side of the Achilles Tendon area stuck to the liners. Before I did that I had heel lift. I tried cinching down the second buckle really tight. That just made my foot hurt from the shells pinching on the sides and still not holding my heels down. Makes riding really hard and unpleasant when your feet are sliding all around and hurt too.
  11. Here is a shot from my Raichle SB's: I was thinking yesterday that you might be able to try a ski boot to determine general size. I bought my boots without trying first and they were too big. I had to add all kinds of filler and padding to eliminate heel lift. Head makes both ski and alpine board boots. Who else makes both?
  12. Nick, I tried to send this to your e-mail, but it does not seem to go. So here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/UPS-alpine-snowboarding-boots-hard-boot-carving-UPZ_W0QQitemZ180446002090QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Snowboard_Boots?hash=item2a036b7baa Check it out. Try to get the Mondo size. Eric
  13. Nick, Attached photo shows where to find the shell size. Eric
  14. Chubz, Great to meet and ride with you today and thanks for the coaching. I feel like I really made some progress today. I ran into Jesse after I de-canted ( no, I do not have feet that sweaty. I played with the boot cuff canting last night) the boots. Jesse, It was also great to meet you and ride with you guys. Thanks for the coaching also. Added on top of what Chubz showed me it really helped. Especially initiating the carve faster and harder. I guess I really need to trust the edge more. I think I'll get there. I left at about 1:00. My legs were not listening to my head and I started to fall. Thought it best to stop before I got hurt. I stopped at Buckmans to see about tweaking the boots. Since dave did it the first time last year, he didn't even charge for the hour he spent on the boots today. Now there is no heel lift. I was standing in there with the board chatting with a guy wh used to rep K2 and Rick saw the board and came over. He' looking for boots and stopped in to get his feet measured. I let him try on my boots. Good thing. The guy in the shop was recommending that he go UP!!! one shell size from his measured 27+ to a 28. Mine are 26-26.5 and they were snug after I addded volume under the liner and behind the heel. He definitely needs a 26. All in all a cool day. Can't wait to get out there next week!
  15. Thanks All, That clears it up for me. Eric
  16. I have searched the archives and cannot seem to see anything on this. Sorry if this was discussed already and it seems a newb question. Is there any difference between canting in the boots and in the bindings?
  17. If that is the case, I had better start posting every ten minutes until ECES. How about post count AND - "skidder, groomer grommet..." on the tag as well?
  18. I think that this site is great. And its the people that make the site! If I had had to figure all of this out by myself or by reading a manufacturers web site, I would still be reading not riding. I think that I am asking fewer newb (I resemble that!) questions as I learn about the search tools and do more reading. But I still have to get more time on the board. I'm just trying to grow my business to the point that I am not needed and I can just take the whole winter off. Hope to be able to get there before I am too old to ride!
  19. Just remeber, post count is not necessarily an accurate representation of skill level. Internet snowboarding can sometimes get overly opinionated and rambunctious. There is lots of good info shared on here and lots of b.s. also, usually not to hard to deciminate between the good and the bad. Welcome to Bomber! I wish that the count had an effect on ability. I would be on here every day I was not on the snow. But does that mean that the guys with counts above 1000 are actually never on the snow???:D
  20. Well now its three. Even if they leave the bumps on Challenge, there is a narrow path down the side. Its just that first section.
  21. How long 'till skidder changes to something else??
  22. http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=281861&posted=1#post281861 It looks like there are at least two of us there on Saturday. Anyone else?
  23. Teach, I will be in a brown hooded jacket, white helmet, yellow pants, green SIMS 167. Orange Argyle Socks!:D There is a race course set up on Razors edge untill about 10:30 or 11:00 on Saturdays. Everything else is either bumps or crowded.:(
  24. I saw someone at Whistler in '07 or '08 and started looking online. It just looked so cool. Now I have three boards and I am hooked. I was riding last weekend and got numerous comments in the lift line. One guy was so hyped up he pulled out his iPhone and showed his buddy videos on You-tube. I got to get the cards. Hey teach, I'm in Philly too. Where do you ride? I will probably be going to Blue Mtn this Saturday. You? Eric
  25. Turns out the boots are too big. But I'll take the rest.
