  1. That post got me really stoked ...will hopefully be putting her on layaway tomorrow :)
  2. Alrighty, found something else...a Cannondale F5: http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/09/cusa/model-9FS5.html What do you guys think? It felt really nice to me :)
  3. I went to the local bike shop yesterday and found a KHS full suspension. Here's a link with specs: http://www.khsbicycles.com/03_xc_004_07.htm It's only 700 (under 1200), but as far as I could tell from the reviews (quite a few of them), it's a good entry-level full suspension MTB. I won't be doing any hardcore trail riding, just mostly XC and campus riding, so the cheaper components won't be bothering me too much. Eventually I may want to upgrade to air shocks, better rear susp., 8" disks, etc. or just get a new (and better) bike. The thing to keep in mind for myself is that I can't afford to be spending much more than that right now. I'm bracing myself for my 3rd semester in college and a 1200 bike is out of the question. And the thing I forgot to mention, I may be able to get this bike for under 500 (after haggling). My bike shop has it priced at $535, so obviously, it's more friendly to my wallet.
  4. Damn...I wish I had $1,200 layin' around. I've also seen some online discount stores such as Bikes Direct: http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/mountain_bikes.htm?gclid=CPKRjoTJ75oCFQkzawodHQ8BIw Would this be a smart way to go about buying a new MTB, or do you guys tend to opt for an in-store purchase?
  5. but I'm really getting interested in mountain biking. I've seen that some of you are into this scene. Maybe you guys could help me out? I know practically nothing about frames, suspension, etc. I'm looking for something that would be good on mtn trials as well as something I can use on campus (lots of uphills). Is there anything in particular that I should be looking for? I've seen that these bikes are usually priced around 5-700 dollars plus. I'm not planning on getting anything soon, so I've got plenty of time to look.
  6. Oh, and it came with a 3L reservoir It was 30 bucks just for the reservoir, so I figured to go the extra 10 and get the pack as well :)
  7. Just got back from Cabela's and a Camelbak M.U.L.E. followed me home. I couldn't pass it up...a $90 pack on special for 40 bucks!! I'll make sure to take better care of this one. Thanks all!
  8. The funny thing is that I've never put anything in the bladder except water. I never did let it dry after use, so that would explain the growth. I'll check out Sports Authority to see if they're on special. I've been wanting a bigger bladder anyways. The 1.5 liter doesn't cut if for me.
  9. Hey guys, I have a camelbak bladder that needs some serious cleaning. I can see all sorts of green nastyness in the bite valve. It's pretty knarly. Have you guys ever used the cleaning kit that camelbak sells? Does it work? How have you guys cleaned yours? Thanks for any advice :)
  10. Thanks for that thoughful response. I acutally went hunting for a ski specialty shop around town today and found someplace that may have what I'm looking for. Which one of these epoxies would work best for me? http://www.svst.com/Categories3.aspx?Category=487e29d9-faf1-4db0-923f-7b851964fbfa Thanks again everyone.
  11. Hey everyone, the moment has come...almost. I still need to buy epoxy. :o Question: what do you recommend cleaning the crack with (solvents?)? I can barely get in there with a tiny screw driver, let alone get a rag or something in there. I doubt that any grease or oil got in there. The only thing I'm minutely worried about it dust. Would this epoxy work? I still need to make a stop to ACE to see what they have to offer... Sorry about all these questions guys, I just want to make sure I don't screw up on her anniversary gift.
  12. Looks like he's having a blast too...truly enjoying life :) Congrats to your dad!
  13. I'm sure we all realized that ;) Still a neat idea though.
  14. Ohhh that would be sick!! And I'm sure it will...it's a Bomber product. It'll be adjustable as hell. ETA: That also answers the question of the suspension bottoming out, does it not? Although if you manage to do that, it's gonna be a nice shock at the bottom
  15. Thanks for the vid!! I'm already missing the snow :(
  16. You're just jealous you're not 7yrs old :p
  17. "On the Edge" or something of the like. This is awesome! I can't wait to get one of these :) EDIT: I take that back...CARVING on the cover is pretty catchy to the eye
