I have an old Laser as well and I love it. I have a cottage on Lake Couchiching. Couchiching is a native Wendat word that means "Lake of Many Winds". The perfect sailors lake. :)

I thought there was a way to lock the front (or back) if you didn't have the middle screws.
-
I have only heard good things about the actual product. Hopefully they can turn the CS around for good this time. Only time will tell.

It sounds like it will be really cool for the people in the West. Worth waking up early for. I'll watch for it. Maybe I'll see a sliver before the moon sets.

I would imagine by it's nose shape and flex pattern it would not be the best board for powder.

The dollar is close to par, so this is half the price of a new WCR. How has this not sold yet?
You might want to wait till the fall when people are looking boards.

All I have to say is....WTF!? Hell just froze over or something.
I was rooting for a Vancouver, but secretly hoping for an SJ vs Chicago matchup. This will be the best match up of the playoffs. I don't think they will get much resistance from who ever they have to face from the East. But then again, the Habs just won. I guess anything can happen.

Sounds like the perfect soft boot board. :)
I love my FLC.

I got a question about the SP-13 plates that come on the Palmer skis. Is it correct that they only take Tyrolia Bindings? Are there any other brands that fit?

Sent you a PM. I can post it up.

That's pretty crazy. I'm only ever seen a couple CNC machines, and none of them could do that.

You should get a Canadian Hairless Cat. Low risk of allergies. And as an added bonus even if you have a bad day at work, seeing your bald cat when you get home is sure to bring a smile to your face. :)

Yeah, because Canada got it right.

Some nice deals to be had. I like the Palmer Burn for $168.
Shipping is free in the US.
I recently bought a board from them. Shipping was $33 and tax/duty was around $20 which I had to pay when the board arrived. Make sure you pick the FedEx International Priority to avoid additional brokerage fees.

When I say "steering" I'm referring to the way CASI defines the word (and I'm assuming AASI is the same). A difference between your line of momentum and the edge of your board.
-
I just happened to be looking at it this morning. In the right conditions I think this thing would be really fun. :)

Clearly the real definition of the word "steering" is the issue here. If you start off the carve (pure and on edge) in hero snow in a long and easy radius turn, then compress into the turn putting more bend into the board making a smaller turn (again pure and on edge) is this "steering" or is it called something else in the english language?
That would be pressure control.
Pressure control, edge angle and speed will all change the radius of a pure carved turn without steering. The second you steer your turn is no longer pure carved.
If you are leaving nothing but pencil lines behind you then you ARE NOT steering.
If your tracks look more like a crescent moon then you ARE steering.
-
-
To yaw is to skid.
If I'm skidding then I'm not "pure carving".
EDIT: I'm an idiot. That's exactly what you are saying.
-
pushing the board with your feet such that it yaws out of the path that it would naturally carve is steering. it has no role in a pure carved turn. end of story.
Pushing the board with your feet so that it changes turn shape to me would be a change in pressure control. There are other ways to adjust your turn shape other than adding pressure. You could also adjust angulation/inclanation, turn completion or speed.
"Steering" can only happen with a steering angle. "Pure carving" whether it be dynamic or just sitting static on the edge does not use steering.
-
"nice, clean carved, pencil thin, edge to edge, no skidding, all parts of the edge travelling the same path, C turn" == 0 steering?
If the steering angle == 0, how are you steering at all?

So, my comment got deleted. I was being sarcastic. I thought it was obvious but I guess I should have put a smiley. :)
