  1. Pic's from the great furntiture race .....Chip anyone?
  2. Cool pic Dave...note that X seems to have marked the spot (where two carves intersected) ..do not think you could have done that again if you tried. Great weekend. Saturday they left most the hill with 7 inches powder......if you made first tracks up until the first hour passed, it was a Minnesota not often experienced good time. After that, things started to get bull-dozed into piles not great for our discipline but they had four pipe groomed and that was very good. Did not do the water skipping...a bit too chilly for my tastes...but that and the barrel jumping were fun to watch as usual. We took third in furniture race on the trusty couch but it was close ....got beat by a Lazy-boy and bar-chair, although the IOC is looking into illegal equipment and a BUMP on the course we took from the Lazy-boy...(on film so our appeal should hold up).....A very good time. Sunday with Dave for a short period. Good firm groom and Dave was once a again on a GOPRO mission....I will have lots to choose from for the remix of the season. Looking forward to next weekend. Russ, hope your travels and time on the mountain out west are good for you.
  3. The Moosehead Lounge in the upper part of the chalet at the top of the hill (main chalet) has about 5 comfy chairs with ottomans .... my wife camps out in those when she comes in and I stay on the hill for extra hours...usually always one chair open minimum. They have a small fire place in front of those but its not always on. Wait staff are not at all put off by people camping out for long periods in the Moosehead, they just see it as part of the gig. Really no reason to go anywhere else......
  4. Where to start.... Dave, please bring the clips next time... had a meeting in MPLS on Sunday and could not make it to the hill on Sunday when you came up after the snow. Also Dave, Please do not send any pictures of your feet and the issue of your heel .....I just had a light breakfast... Ken....Same with any further pictures of neon retro suits... Just kidding, those outfits are GREAT...LOL.....should have saved them for the big SPRING FLING this coming weekend ....unless you are actually brave enough to put them on again. Family and an extended group of friends are going to spend the whole day at Spirit on Sat. 16th for spring fling. If the water pit is designed right (without the three foot drop to the water like last time I did it)....I could consider another run across that...but it would have to be perfect weather. Anyway..we are staying for Barrel jumping and most likely just to watch the water skipping and our TEAM LOUNGE LIZARD will attempt another run at greatness on the furniture race. Let's hope for a fun day with good weather.
  5. INDIANHEAD TOMORROW.....just looked at the forecast.....9 degrees tonight there, heading into a day of 18 to 26 degree's so base should be set well for the day ...with 3 MPH wind....HOLY CRAP this should be good. Nothing like blowing off a work schedule and feeling this good about it. Oh, and Dave, you are my new hero on the HERO (GoPro)....your end to POW vid went from quirky to ...well....not sure what...but it was inspiring. Someone let me know if I need to be at Russ's house or meet other for blast off tomorrow.
  6. Had a good day back on the hill. Dave was on a mission as Pole-cam guy.....took some shots following Ken and I and also mentioned he dropped the pole under the lift on the way up and got some shots as we came down...will wait to see how those turn out. We talked about waiting till all the clips are in and I' just do a full 2012-13 REMIX like the 2010-11....... Ken and Jane were out today ...she competed in the SLOPESIDE compititon which drew the crowds off four - pipe....worked for us quite well. Missed Russ as it was great snow (not as good as yesterday). Met Steve from Buck Hill and had a few laps with him, would be fun to see more of the Twin Cities group up our way for a full weekend.
  7. "Prior" to the crash today...had some good fun with the go pro on the front of the board....until it got wrenched off in the collision.....and no...it was not on when the crash happened....
  8. A perfect snow and weather day. My wife and I ..first tracks with the Go Pro mounted on the board, then Russ, then Dave with his new Coiler addition, then Ken and his wife..... Into about my seventh run, barely an hour into the day and about a nano second after I think to myself..."Can it get any better?...I GET NAILED..... I had gone down Double Jaw, finishing a toe side toward the edge of the hill along the woods, no one in front of me for the whole run...I do a quick head check up the hill as I set up for my heel side away from the woods and when I look back to set the heel side hard, some JIBBER comes screaming out of the woods from the run next (four pipe) and jumps directly into my path....:AR15firinNOT F*&%d &&G GOOD. Major collision as he lands on the front of my board and I get launched about 25 feet down the hill..... Nothing broke and I am glad we both eventually got up but I took some satisfaction in that he laid in the snow a hair longer than I did. This is the second time I have been hit but NOTHING like this...man...THANK GOD for helmets...my melon hit the ground so hard I still cannot tell you why my shoulder, neck and throat and right thigh hurt..... End of story....Was too banged up and pissed to even crawl up to the guy to rip his lift ticket...simply asked if he needed a toboggen and he said no so I limped down the hill, hooked up with Marl and hit the road for home.....Sore as hell but MORE PISSED about my wasted PERFECT day on the hill....MAN!!! I am determined to get out tomorrow but will see how I fall out of bed in the morning..........
  9. Dave, please load your clips from last weekend on a flash drive and let me know when you next hit Duluth....mid week or otherwise. I have loaded my clips onto the flash drive you gave me last year and I will swap with you. If its mid-week, I will run up to the hill and grab it from you...I work 10 minutes from the hill.... Otherwise, will catch it on the weekend if you're up. This weekend weather is looking good. 24-28 degrees , less than 10 MPH winds, mostly sunny..........if only it holds......Will be up out both days again.
  10. Had lot's of people ask me what the heck a Vari-cant was....and more than few that thought I was referring to the UNI-CANT disc contraption. Some kind soul went into his closet and dug out what I have long been looking for........Seems this WANT TO BUY board does produce........ Attached is picture of the Burton Variable Cant wedges that go under the Burton Race Plate toe and heel plates. They are small, unobtrusive and at least for me, give me just enough cant that I need on the front foot to keep my front knee comfortable and in position. Thanks to the bomber faithful for digging these out.
  11. A great weekend capped by Sunday ride-fest with Russ and Dave...(Ken ...Where were you?).....Was fun to hear of Dave's SES experience. We tried to up the film-footage benchmarks but SOMEONE (yeah, me ) had a fail on the first attempt of Dave's idea for using the long pole ..... looks like Dave was able to pull some great stills from the effort. I will start putting together edits of the rest of the day footage from my camera and will wait to get Dave's film-footage to link it all together .....great fun on a great day.
  12. Plan to be out both mornings - Sat till about 11 or so, ...Sunday I plan to stay till early afternoon. I was planning to attach the GoPro on Sunday so everyone bring your A-Game... I have not produced a clip since 2011 season....Looking for good footage...All you weavers and bobbers from MPLS area ...come on up and improve our video line......
  13. MD/Dave, sounds like you had a great time. I spent yesterday afternoon drooling over all the vids and saw you in more than a few including the ones you mentioned. The hill did look challenging on the vid where Bruce did the header .....can't wait to see the new boards when you get them. Oh...and being the only guy around on PRIOR boards....give me some insight...are they just not represented out there during SES or what?.....I see some on the vids but no mention of the builders or representatives.
  14. Ummm...no pic's without me dissasembling the toe and heel bail plates ......and they are currently all in my locker at the ski hill. I can do that this coming weekend. The Vari - Cants were pretty specfic items to the Burton Race plates I am told and would be known immediatly by anyone that had them or found them mounted under Burton Race Plates they purchased.
  15. Looking for one more set of the elusive and hard to find VARI-CANTS. Picked up a couple of these years back....two piece items that fit under the toe and heel bail plates of Burton Race plates......If anyone has any please email me direct at jolson@comolp.com Appreciate it.
  16. Hero snow day....pretty much took anyone's ability and upped by 100 points or so........absolutely great day. Only Ken and I out this morning as Dave and Russ were out traveling.....Ken did a film session recently and studied the tapes hard and he believes and I can attest to it as upping his game as well. Guess I better his the SES films and get some tips ........
  17. I will take both four hole wedge inserts . Please email with address and I will send funds. jolson@comolp.com
  18. Plan to brave the cold again Sunday morning, will look for Dave but will be gone by 11:00 (Super Bowl plans at our house) so pretty sure I will miss Ken who sounds like he is ready to be back in saddle again....pain relief through the marvel of modern medicine.....right medicine man?
  19. Went out this morning and holy mother of God was it cold....I do not remember the last time I went in after just an hour to warm up....maybe when I was six years old.... I was going to avoid jumping on the bandwagon but wow...Kryptonite pretty much descibed the base today .......Good news...nothing but sunshine and I had all runs pretty much to myself all morning....bad news....no other alpine pals on the hill and I am still trying to return blood flow to my nose.....
  20. Like alot of people evidently, I am looking for one last set of Burton Race Plates with four hole disks. Also, I need a four hole insert for a burton wedge I have .... Thought I'd throw this out there to see if I can get a shot as I seem to miss every opportunity when they hit the FOR SALE page. Pleae email me at jolson@comolp.com immediately if you have the above. That email gets checked more often than any other. Thanks
  21. Feeling PRETTY inadequate.....I will arrive with the same old stuff this year......sigh.....BUT LOOKING FORWARD TO IT and seeing the usually small group of fanatics. See everyone soon.
  22. Wow, both Saturday and Sunday were amazing hero type snow conditions....hard to believe the hill has to close up shop.... Firm both mornings but as it worked to mid day it was awesome for those of us of carving affliction. Nice to have Ken join us full time now on the wicked Prior AWD. Looking forward to seeing more of him and Don next year and RYAN...if your reading this.....post often and early next year if you are hitting the slopes weekdays or weekends, we missed having you join us. Also missed having Dave here for the final week...a blast as always having him as a regular from the cities area. Will be in touch Dave and look to next season to seeing you again. I believe that's it from me for the season but Russ is setting to make some trips yet and Ken, we will wait for your post from Colorado, good luck to Jane and say hi to Karl from the Duluth group when you see him out there. Russ....yeah....I owe you a lunch (and for the boots) and will get that in line this spring to keep us primed by talking about your latest and greatest purchases....until the next snow flies. Jim
