  2. Our remix of the season...so much film, so little time..... Jim, Russ, Dave
  3. Dave, I have a volunteer shift in the morning (Sat 3/19) at Spirit. I will try and get on the hill first thing as part of my shift, if I am not able to do that, I will have the orange Spriit MT. parka on and will be working the back side of the Chalet. Look for me and I will keep an eye out for you. Happy to hear your are able to get back out before year end. Hopefully see you in the A.M. Jim
  4. Hey Krash (ie: Big Wave Dave), Thanks for the great footage on YouTube links....and to be honest, unless you ride in our pockets I do not see how you could get any closer and get any better results with the GO PRO . A zoom lense is the next generation suggestion for that camera set up for sure. I hate to disappoint but all that footage I took on that day was for crap..too far away from you guys for the most part...and the best run I thought I had on film was one where the camera was off and I turned it on at the bottom and got the ride UP THE HILL......WTF...... I am going to pull stills and what little decent footage out of that mess and put together a clip of full year with earlier good stuff and whatever I can get from Dave's raw clips which obviously were great that day compared to what I grabbed. Dave, just let me know if your heading this way and I can meet you or arrange to grab the flash drive. Dave, maybe include a couple of your favorite POLE DANCE clips on that and I will grap a few shots for my edit. Hope your on the mend Dave...oh...and I REALLY like the new avatar...THAT'S A HEELSIDE. Russ, sounds like Indianhead was well worth the trip. Ken, looking forward to seeing you with our small group next year. (or maybe one or two more times this year.)
  5. What a great day out with Russ, Dave and joined by our newest convert Don.... Man...just watching Russ and Dave is great fun........Like Russ said, great early and slowly got choppy but all in all a great day. Will be editing and putting to together a remix of the season plus the new footage. Dave, let me know if and when your heading north again, would like to get your raw clips to edit into the mix..... Will be up both days this weekend.
  6. I have an interview at 9 AM on Thursday but plan to hit the hill still .....may be closer to 10:30 or so before I get there.......will strap on the web cam right from the start.......so few days left, so much film to take......
  7. Good to know we have another convert that is local (Ken) and that he had the good taste in choosing PRIOR to start his alpine boarding career......strength in numbers baby....... Good weather this weekend but (gasp) the dreaded ice patches are becoming more and more part of the landscape. Hope they deep groom one more time before the season ends, maybe this new snow will do the trick. Was good to see the vistors from Buck.....felt bad about bailing as they just showed up but had to hit the road.......looking forward to seeing them again up north. Russ, I found that the bolt that I thought had just come loose on my race plate binding and tumbled me, actually had snapped off........could not believe it. Will be working on getting that out of the plate. Looking tentatively at Thursday morning for a few runs....early forecast is for sunny and 25-30 degrees.....
  8. I was out Sunday morning and have now set a record for boarding in terrible flat light .......looking forward to a simple day with some sun ..... Sorry Dave, Tuesdays just are not working out for me......I am going to try and get out in the AM Wednesday...will be playing with my binding placement on the 183 Prior to get it dialed in as I am not having great results with that longer board yet..... I see that Russ is tryng for Thursday but I am tied up on that day also. I plan to be up both mornings this weekend. Russ are you going to get out at opening (9 AM) on Sunday and then heading to your shift at noon????? Jim
  9. I have plans for both days next weekend....starting early as usual. If there is a concentrated effort of more than 10 coming up for Sunday February 20th, a group rate could apply.....not huge but it could save some bucks. Post here if you can get 10 or more and I will look into securing a group rate and details on ticket pickup......
  10. Would have been great to have hooked up with you guys on Thursday, looked like great runs and nice video's Dave..... Had my first grandchild this week and was helping out at my daughters house in prep for her going home....will look forward to another day for a group carving session. See you all soon. Jim
  11. Again great weather and groom softened up around 10:30 so good running but second day in a row with terrible light.....flat, flat, flat. Ran into Ryan this AM....Mr. Liquid-form to anyone else...very smooth. Russ, try and post when you think might be a chance for mid week runs this week. The boots (1/2 size down and with the fourth buckle) are great, will talk to you about them this week sometime.
  12. Rarely has someone handled a shaft like that so well...... Nice Vid Dave.....
  13. After a week with the crud, climbed out on the hill this AM in 30 Degree weather and great snow which was surprisingly fast, but between having zero energy from the crud and the extreme flat light, a challenging morning. No other carvers in the sandbox this morning......not a one......felt like the kid who crapped his pants and no one wanted to play in his neighberhood.... Will be out in the AM tomorrow....really, ...no crap....
  14. I have the camera set to the mode where it starts filiming when I turn it on and it stops fliming when I turn it off. It simplifies the issue, one touch and hold to on and I am filiming, on touch and hold and its off. I practiced numerous times with the camera attached to the helmet in front of a mirror to make sure I was holding the button down long enough for on and off.(red light on) .....I have NOT missed yet when I have intended to be filming or when I have meant to turn it off. Simple. As it goes to editing softwarre for the short films I have put together, I use "Microsoft Movie Maker" that comes with almost all OFFICE packages so its free if you have a Microsoft OFFICE package. I have not known anything different so I cannot compare it to anything else, but Movie Maker is flexible, and easy to learn and use (unless you have a VISTA operating system or older I am told).
  15. I used one of the adhesive mounts.....my fault it popped off, as I recall, the directions say to let the mount sit for 24 hours at room temp .....I let it sit for only an hour before I attached the camera and went out. I have not heard good things about the suction cup mount in cold weather.
  16. GOPRO mania...... <HR style="COLOR: #3399ff" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Tried the old GOPRO Mounted on the board.......lasted about four runs before the mount came off but got enough for a movie clip.....not great form but alot of fun...... Try this link....
  17. Tried the old GOPRO Mounted on the board.......lasted about four runs before the mount came off but got enough for a movie clip.....not great form but alot of fun...... Try this link....
  18. ...it was bound to happen....I got the creeping crud and was down in bed and missed the weekend runs...... Hope to get out later this week, maybe Wed, Thur or Friday.
  19. Saturday does not look good for me but plan to be on the hill on Sunday AM. Saturday AM looks like a morning of flat light anyway...... Will look for Dave and Russ on Sunday.
  20. Could not make it to the MES in the Cities but yes, was out Wednesday Morning here on a spur of the moment decision...Like Russ said, great weather and snow conditions......perfect. Dave, sorry but have appointments to keep today on Thursday so cannot join up. I hope to be up both days this weekend.
  21. Russ, returned home Sunday afternoon to find I have been scheduled for a psych eval next week......seems my family finds it unnatural to ride the plank at -15.......(seems you are next) Oh....and yes....the "alpine kit" is an approved accessory to the Mountain Host uniform to those working the Breezeway........I am sure I saw that in the handbook.....somewhere....in the book....... Sorry to have missed Joe on the hill but hopefully he will be back up in better weather.........
  22. Dave, that "pole dance" was awesome......as discussed, if I ever try that it will have to be when Russ is on ski patrol duty cause I can just see them trying to remove that thing from some part of my body at some point.... Russ, no worries...I put the truck in "D" for "driveway" and knew it would take me to the Chalet while I filmed.......I simply could not pass up that sunrise... ... and yes, I am thinking about buying a used sea-tortise shell....for as much time as I have spent on my back lately you would think I could just grow one.....
  23. Joe, I have volunteer shifts each morning this weekend at Spirit and if I get the the right slot, I may have the opportunity to be out on the hill for a short period of time each morning between 9 and 9:45...... Green full face helmet and orange Spirit Mountain Host Jacket.... Will look for you either way....
  24. Higher quality post of that video featuring Dave and Russ (except for my biff) on January 9th.
