  1. You said it Eric. Although our paths haven't crossed this year conditions for riding have been great. Day number 31 today with Ken and it was great. I have spending a lot of time on Bear peak and it has been practically been deserted. Wide open slopes with no one on it but us. It's been nice.
  2. Dingbat, I'm not sure I will be able to make it now. We will still be in Vermont this weekend but more than likely will be riding in Vermont on both days. Sorry dude. Jt
  3. I agree with guido591. Icebiker you are from New Jersey, if you already booked a flight and hotel stay then obviously you have no choice, if not go up north to Vermont.
  4. My buddy Ken and I will be in Vt. For Friday through Sunday. We are heading home on Sunday but would like to ride at Berkshire East with other carvers. If possible could we get placed on the list. We will be coming from Woodstock Vt. Thanks
  5. Another great morning at MC. We rode great northern, Grand Prix (devils bit) and zero g. It was nice to finally carve all the way down both Grand Prix and zero g. With all the snow we have gotten they are both wide enough to carve across. Last nite Dave and I rode Bear Peaks racing trail, kamakaze, and bear claw. All were in great condition for carving. I will be riding again Monday provided work is cancelled for the incoming storm and maybe tomorrow morning. Hope to see other carvers their.
  6. What binding angles are you riding? What is your stance width?
  7. Had a great day today and yesterday riding with Jimmy and Dave. Both days had great carving conditions. Finally all trails are wide enough to carve on especially the racing trail and Kamakaze on Bear Peak. More than likely I will be riding all morning tomorrow provided we get the storm that we are suppose to. Hope to see other carvers there.
  8. I don't know which Coiler board is shown in the video that coiler has out with softboots but if that is the one that I_LOVETT is talking about, I think it looks like a great soft board to carve. So does that Rossignal XV. However I am extremely skeptical about the advice I get about which soft deck is a good one for carving. Opinions vary so much from rider to rider about this subject. The Coiler looks real nice but being that I have no means of riding one I am nervous about spending the money for a board that I may not like. The same is true about the Rossignal XV. If I ever have the chance, I will demo the boards. I will look out for both of them because hearing opinions on this matter in this forum is much different then listening to the local store clerk. Most of the guys by me (not all) don't have a clue what it means to carve. It would be nice to start a forum on carving soft decks under the review section.
  9. Today (Sunday 1/25/15) was great at MC. Ken Dave and I rode some carvable soft pack for about two hours. Zero g was finally wide enough to carve across. It was definitely on the soft side but I guess I shouldn't complain. Tomorrow we are expecting a few inches in the morning and then a complete blizzard from Monday night into Tuesday afternoon. Up to two feet could fall. This means woods riding. MC has some excellent tree and woods riding provided you know where to look. I will be out tomorrow afternoon and possibly Tuesday night after the storm has blown through. No carving just tree riding. See you there.
  10. This is year 27 riding for me. I have only met a handful of people with 30+ years experience including the few guys that I first rode with. Two of which are still riding and both in year number 30. Just wondering who has 30 years or better.
  11. Epic conditions at Mountain Creek this morning. We had about 9 inches of snow this morning which lead to a powder day. I was able to get a few powder runs before it got all tracked out. The woods was tempting but I don't think there was enough snow. Tomorrow Dave, Ken and I will be riding for first tracks. See you all there.
  12. There is no limitation on how steep you can set up soft boot bindings. I ride 60 front and 63 back. I drive my back knee into my front on soft boots just like I had on hard boots. Look at my video on soft boot riding in the video section. Carving snowboards can be done on any setup on any angle stance. It's not about equipment but rather rider performance. Like I constantly tell every rider who wants to carve, you can do it on the equipment you are currently riding. It's a matter of adjusting to it and learning how to do it.
  13. You may be a silly old man but you can still out ride me at 44. Many more good days to come Sic.
  14. I don't know what "style of riding you ride but that picture above is by far the oddest position i have ever seen for i heel side carve. I wanna learn your style.
  15. Had a great day riding with Ken and Dave. Conditions were prime for carving. Hopefully we can do it again with other carvers.
  16. You got it. We will get you next time icebiker
  17. Well things came together very quickly this time. It looks like we are going up this Wednesday 1/14/15. So far it is me, Ken, Dave, possibly John and Joe. Joe is asking a few more guys as well. I hope others can join us. It will be a good time. Last I heard Belleayre got about 4 inches from this last storm. Cold weather is here so snow should be good. C u all there.
  18. Belleayre Mountain has Coke Wednesdays. If you bring an empty or full coke product to the ticket window on any non-holiday Wednesday, you can ride for $32. I did this last season and rode on a Wednesday. The slopes were practically empty. I was still carving curdory at 2:00 pm. I am hoping to get a group of hard riders together to take advantage of this price and ride all day together on empty slopes. Just about any Wednesday is good for me but I would like to have at least one weeks notice. In the past we have had as many as a dozen carvers at Belleayre but the last few years have been slim. Lets try a NY/NJ/PA carving day again at Belleayre. Any one in?
  19. Mountain Creek has been open for a few weeks now but conditions have been down right dismal. Today was the first day that they are changing for the better. Snow making has resumed and many slopes and trails are being covered. There is only one trail down at North and only one at south but I'm pretty sure there will be quite a few more opened by this weekend. I will be out Thursday 1/1 first chair and again on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Hope to see other carvers their.
  20. Hey NickG, For a small mountain within 3 hours Jiminy Peak is a good one. I live in NJ as well and have been to Hunter, Belleayre, Plattekill, Windham, and Jiminy Peak. All of which are relatively small mountains located within 3 hours of northern NJ (I live in Vernon NJ so maybe a little further for you) All five are good but out of all those I would suggest Jiminy Peak. It has nice wide trails that have a good pitch to them. I have ridden the other 4 for over 20 years and Jiminy only once last year. I will definitely be making more trips back to Jiminy over the other four named above. If you are looking for some long cruisers with lots of vertical drop make the trip up to Whiteface in NY. By far the steepest and longest vertical in the east. Whiteface also has some Long cruisers. Just make sure the snow is good before committing. It can get icy. There is a lot to do off slope in the town of mirror lake. Lots of amenities. You can stay at cheap bed and breakfast. Just look on-line. Good Luck Jt
  21. Sunsurfer, I can't believe how much room you have to carve in that video. I can't even begin to imagine having that type and quantity of realestate for riding. I wouldn't know what to do with all of it. Looks like you are having fun.
  22. Patrice, I think you should go with Ride Double Agent bindings, Burton Ion boots, and a Lib Tech Skunk Ape 160's. Having ridden with you for many days I also think that you can get on just about any deck and carve it. See you next season. JT
  23. I'm thinking about going up to hike Tuckermans Ravine on Mount Washington in May. A friend from Vermont told me the snow will more than likely hold through May in the ravine. Just wondering who from this community has hiked it and ridden down and who has done it this year? If so, how was the hike, weather and snow? JT
  24. It looks like a nice board. I sure would like to try it. Send one down to nj and I'll test it all season long.
