I would skip Stratton, the carving season is done here.

Bummer about Stratton. Sounds like the rain held off for the most part further north though. Haven't gotten enough use out of my pass this year, so I'm just going to go and hope for the best.

  2. I'm planning a New England Ikon working road trip next week. Riding in the mornings & working in the afternoon/evening. Last season was my first back on snow after a decade off, so I haven't been anywhere in New England other than Wachusett in ages. Would love suggestions for the best mountains and/or trails for carving (from among the Ikon group: Stratton, Killington, Sugarbush, Loon, Sunday River, Sugarloaf). Or, better yet would love to meet up with other carvers to ride. My schedule is flexible, so I can work my days around when others are available.

For "how much preload?", Roberto suggested that I always set it so that there was 10.5cm from outer to outer on the springs.

Huh, that's interesting. I had them set at ~9cm and still found them to be quite soft. Thinking about going back to the stock springs on my front boot, in fact. For the heck of it, I backed them out to 10.5cm and there's no preload at all. Are there different versions?

First: remove boot hinge/cant screws and boot cuff. no hammer.

Yeah, I got that step. Not sure how you'd even get the stock adjuster off without removing the cuff. The step I missed is snugging up the top nut and washer, I think that helps to keep the bolt head better aligned with the slot in the cuff. Still needed a hammer though. No way I was pushing it into place with just a screwdriver as shown in that video.

  8. Anyone have the install instructions for the DGSS kit in UPZ boots? Picked up a kit second hand and am struggling to get it seated in the slot of the boot cuff. Only wants to slide in halfway, despite a few good whacks with a hammer and punch.

Anyone heard from John at Thor recently? I ordered a pair of gloves back at the beginning of December. He emailed me the next day to say that he was out of town until 12/31 but would get them sent out when he got back. No gloves yet so I emailed him last week to see what was up, no response. Just tried calling the office number that was on my PayPal receipt, but it's out of service.

Well, gloves showed up in the mail today. Still wonder about his communication, but at least I've got what I ordered.

They are designed for softboot carving use, and they are made ~25-26cm wide. Ergo, you have to run high stance angles to carve them or else you boot out. It’s not even like they’re giving you a choice of 27-28cm waist widths.

Pretty sure the average shoe size in Japan and Korea is a good bit smaller than in the US and Canada. Just catering to their local market?

  12. Think it's finally time to let go of this board. Picked this up from someone on the Bomber forum back in the day. I don't know a ton about its history, other than that it was a prototype board, hence no graphics. It might only be good as wall art at this point, but I've been riding it up until recently, so perhaps it has a bit of life left. It's been ground many times (mostly prior to me owning it), so the base is very thin and the inserts are starting to show through in a couple of spots. There's a coat of storage wax on it in the photos, but the base is pretty clean otherwise. Edges are thin, but serviceable, with no dents or dings. One of the rear inserts is partially stripped, but I used a slightly longer screw in that position and was still able to get 4-5 turns of engagement. There's a little nick in the nose, with a slight bubble in the topsheet opposite, but it hasn't spread in the 15 years I've owned it.

    Asking $200+shipping.
