  1. Not directly alpine snowboard related, but does anyone around here have any use for these weirdo devices? They're Bomber Elite skiboard bindings that I retrofitted with the Intec uppers from a set of TD2s. They also have a riser underneath the sole blocks. $75 for the set? Happy to part out any and all pieces as well.
  2. Thanks for the clarification, that makes more sense, conceptually at least. I'll certainly have a go at it, but I'm doubtful that either are within my skill level right now though.
  3. Yes, should have mentioned that I suppose. Haven't yet as it's just something that occurred to me. Season is pretty much over here, so probably won't get a chance to give it a proper test, unfortunately. If I'm understanding correctly, I think I do this on medium terrain, but it isn't something that's within my confidence level on steep stuff. Also, doesn't fit with my goal for clean carves. Exactly my thought process, though much more clearly stated. That explains why I've never seen this discussed, I wouldn't have been inclined to read a discussion on plates. Overall, sounds like I should give a narrower stance a try. I'll have to see if I can find a sweet spot between being able to move on the board and making more use of my weight to bend it.
  4. I was thinking about this on the lift this morning, was curious what others thought. I'm a very lightweight rider (135 lbs/61kg) and have found nearly every board I've ever tried a bit too stiff for me. I've always ridden used boards though, so I just chalked it up to most boards being made for much heavier riders. At the same time, I've settled on a very wide stance width (21.25"/54cm) relative to my height/inseam (5'8"/172cm & 31.5"/80cm). It's always felt most comfortable to me and really allows to me move around well on the board. I'm wondering though, if my wide base coupled with my light weight is making boards feel stiffer than they should. It makes sense, conceptually, that it would require less pressure to flex a board with a narrow stance than with a wide one, but I've never seen this discussed. Is it just a non-issue within the constraints of the insert pack in the board?
  5. Didn't get any video of my excellent slarving? Had fun riding with you guys! Even if the terrain was a bit above my skill level.
  6. Nice, which chair do you usually start on? Mind if I join you for a few runs?
  7. Anyone planning to ride at Sugarloaf tomorrow? I'm at Sunday River today, was great before noon, but softened up quick.
  8. Feeling any more optimistic about conditions up there? I ended up spending a long weekend last week up at Sugarbush and had a bunch of fun there. Planning to head for Maine this afternoon and spend the week up there split between Sunday River and Sugarloaf.
  9. We seem to think alike @Eastsiiiide. I’m 135# with a 25M boot, so have had trouble finding used boards that aren’t too wide and stiff for me. This seems like a good opportunity to try a Contra, but I, also, have a custom Thirst in the plans for next season.
  10. Can you give some more information on the flex pattern for this board? Weight range? Do you have the build sheet?
  11. Don't think it'd work since the threads are on the toe blocks with SG, but on the baseplate for F2.
  12. Conditions look pretty grim at BEast. You planning to move the event? Cancel?
  13. I have a set of TD2 Step-ins, for sale, if you want to go that route:
  14. Sorry to thread-jack, but what boards do you have on demo out there?
  15. Thanks. Guess it's time to head home and dry it out.
  16. So this happened this morning. Not really sure exactly when or how it happened, just looked down one run and noticed it. It's my only board and I'm out on a trip right now. I'd prefer not to cut my trip short, but I will if it saves my board for repair when I get home. Opinions on best course of action? Editing to add that I purchased this board second hand and so didn't expect support from Mark on the damage (likely caused by my clumsy self jamming the tail into the snow when flipping over to get up), but he reached out to me privately and provided some good instructions on how to perform a temporary repair and generously offered to work with me on a permanent repair or a new board. Truly above and beyond!
  17. It was a disorganized start to the week, but I just drove up to Killington and am posted up here for tomorrow morning. Don't have much in the way of expectations, but any time on the mountain is better than time at my desk. I'm holding out hope that the storm Sunday brings some snow, in which case I'll be up at Sugarloaf early next week.
  18. I'm just hoping for the best. And to confirm @timbox18, are you at Sugarbush or Sugarloaf this weekend?
  19. I know forecasts can vary a bit, but...
  20. Condition no good for carving anymore? Or, because of the storm they're forecasting on Sunday?
  21. I'm road tripping around New England this week. Don't have a pass at Stowe and was planning to be up in Maine over the weekend, but maybe I'll reorganize and meet up with you at Sugarbush on Saturday. Would be good to ride with some other hardbooters.
  22. Seems kind of fun to me. Like he's casting a spell to bring the board around. Not about to adopt it personally though.
  23. Bummer about Stratton. Sounds like the rain held off for the most part further north though. Haven't gotten enough use out of my pass this year, so I'm just going to go and hope for the best.
  24. I'm planning a New England Ikon working road trip next week. Riding in the mornings & working in the afternoon/evening. Last season was my first back on snow after a decade off, so I haven't been anywhere in New England other than Wachusett in ages. Would love suggestions for the best mountains and/or trails for carving (from among the Ikon group: Stratton, Killington, Sugarbush, Loon, Sunday River, Sugarloaf). Or, better yet would love to meet up with other carvers to ride. My schedule is flexible, so I can work my days around when others are available.
