  2. Post some phone pics of the carnage. And how did it happen? Hey, I though I was the fattest carver! ( over 250lb , don't want to know ) :) I have 2 well loved white/flamebase tanker 192's. One is semi retired with a core shot on the edge, other is still in mint condition. Good luck on the hazelwood.
  3. Remark from my wife last sunday in the lift line... "What? Are you NORMAL now?!" ( She was looking down at the "tiny" new 165 cm BX I was on instead of the usual tanker 192 or other square tail )
  4. I finally got the Eliminator 165 dialed in yesterday ( centered boots in the bindings properly...duh ) and all I can say is WOW! I does quick crossunder carves almost by itself and has incredible edge hold for such a tiny board. It hooks up easily in carves...all the way through with very little effort. Feels like a much longer board. This is my first metal deck and it's true...it sucks up the bumps and is much MUCH more forgiving and way easier to carve than my Tankers or Mavericks. The trick F2 base glides better and is faster riding flat than anything I've ridden other than my 173 factory prime with electra base, But this board feels SOLID and STABLE and just blows through the crud...not squirelly at all. I never rode a metal "schtubby" but it must feel very similar. I was riding in the foggy spring like conditions with my kids so I couldn't really open it up, but I can't wait to get it back on the hill! Sorry, I'm definately going to keep it! :)
  5. DON'T "ZORB"! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2259094/The-horrific-moment-father-young-girls-dies-inflatable-ball-zorbing-spins-control-falls-cliff-Russian-ski-resort.html?ICO=most_read_module
  6. My wife stumbled across some RED ( Burton ) snowboard helmets at Marshalls in the Liberty Tree mall in Danvers. They had pretty good selection, but not great. Then I checked at the Marshalls in Quincy, and WOW they had like 30 helmets in all sizes and 4 or 5 models. I picked up a RED HI FI XL for $29 and my wife got a small one as well with a cool fuzzy liner. No one is looking for a ski/snowboard helmet at Marshalls so I suspect they will be there for a while. Check your local Marshalls in men's accessories.
  7. SWEET!! Good Kharma all around. But hey, WIERD BINDINGS?????????!!!!!!! :)
  8. Yeah, still in the same TOWN? The guy knows something...I don't buy the 2nd or 3rd buyer theory either...a real buyer/carver would had taken off the Bomber 2nd board kit and put other bindings on it... and maybe even change the stompad. It doesn't look like it was touched since it got ripped...
  9. This seriously pisses me off! I wonder if he used your camera for the pics? Nobody email or call the guy....he will just ditch the goods. Let Andy call the cops and they can set up a sting. Better HURRY though...that's a killer deal.
  10. Not yet....really.... I had it out a few weeks ago at Sunapee, but in lousy-dark-cold-icy-chopped-up-barely open top to bottom conditions. :( I got some really good heel side carves and it totally sucked up the bumps compared to my Tankers, but my toeside turns were terrible. Gotta tweak the bindings closer to center and mess with the boot location on the bindings as well...overall it feels MUCH wider and longer than it is... I swapped over to my tanker 192 that day, but it pretty much sucked worse on the ice so I elected to retire to the bar and Pats game. Hopefully I'll get out this weekend or next and get her dialed in on some decent groom...
  11. Hey Bryan, Sorry, just read this. I share your pain. I have had 2 retinal detachments in the same eye. The first one was May 2011, had the surgery done to repair 5 micro tears and then freeze/laser it back on, then the gas bubble/head positioning for a month. Vision returned but was more nearsighted ( went from -5 to -9) I was doing monthly follow ups for 6 months, then Doc said it looked great, come back in 6 months. Before the 6 months was up, in March 2012 It happened again. This time over 20 micro tears to repair! Same medieval painfull horrible operation same gas bubble with head positioning. This time vision in that eye dropped to -13 ( due to the gas bubble hardening the lens ) It also started a cateract in that eye, so I will eventually need to get that lens replaced...I have been going back for follow ups as so far so good. ( I insisted on continuing the monthly visits) I wear gas permeable contact lenses and the vision of the corrected eye is OK, but I could never drive with just that eye...I favor the other one that seems OK for now, although there are lots of floaters. I can still windsurf and carve but have to swivel my head around a lot. Luckily my good eye is the right one so I can ride goofy no problem. If nothing else I'm sharing this so you know you are not the only one with this issue. I am 48 years old and try to focus on the positive. I also understand how horrible it was to watch them cut 2 big holes in your eye for tool access, suck most of the juice out, then stick tools inside that freeze and then burn with a blinding yellow laser...then the feeling of stitching up the incisions like a thick water ballon...then the incredible terrible pain for the first few days of recovery....and then forced to lay around for a month with your head down..not good. I hope it doesn't happen again...to either of us!
  12. YYZCanuck, ( or anyone else? ) As the F2 guru on this side of the atlantic, Would you have any idea if I could get old F2 Dampers like these? I think the ones that fit over the end of the T-Nuts might work too if I could find them. thanks, BTW, If I was buying more stuff I would have paid the international shipping. ;)
  13. Thanks, These are old ones...with the typical slotted metal disks, so the m6X1X8mm stainless worked fine. I actually replaced the zinc plated ones on my Rad-Air branded F2s as well. The RS carves are a bit flimsy, but they are NOS and look killer on the F2 board so I'll at least give them a try. Hopefully Sunapee will open soon!
  14. It looks like alpineskituning site was hacked...some kind of java exploit. The site was last updated 12/15/12 so hopefully Ray will address it soon. Mike at SKIMD has his phone number. I just bought another WaxWhizard last spring so I'm sure he's still making them.
  15. SO I finally got the Eliminator in the mail. Top sheet looks brand new, Edges look brand new, base looks to have 1 or 2 runs on it and has SKIMD tune! It IS the World Cup Construction, ( titanium and carbon ) and Harris even shipped it in a custom fleece "Board Snuggie"! :) It sure feels heavy and damp compared to my Tankers, and 165 looks so tiny...I haven't ridden a board this small since the 90's! Now all I need is some snow!
  16. Thanks! I went the fastenal route. If th 8mm is too long I have SS washers. Great source for odd sized stainless M6 windsurfing fin screws as well.
  17. The only local metric ones I can find are zinc plated crap and rust up fast...West Marine only has standard sized stainless hardware. I was hoping for a magical link that would put them on my doorstep...and not cost $26 like yyzcanuck.
  18. I just scored an NOS set of F2 Carve RS bindings...with no mounting screws. I know they take the same size screw as a burton cant plate but I don't have any more of those buggers. Anyone know where to find m6 x 1, 7.5 mm stainless screws in the usa? Thanks
  19. I just found these specs for the "White" 2011 f2 Eliminator WC. I looks like it may be the "World Cup" carbon/titanium after all. A metal board with vario camber??? I could actually get a taste of modern technology...Can't wait to get it and see.
  20. Thanks guys, I just bought it...There was a racer in Breckenridge ( named Harris I think? ) blowing out 7 of them on fleabay. ( along with some other F2 GS and slaloms) There was only one left and I couldn't resist. If I don't like how the sidecut hauls me around turns, I'm sure it will end up for sale here. It will likely be better on icy days than my tanker. I don't think it is the WC construction but that would be great!
  21. Thanks. I'd really like my next board to be a custom metal all mountain carver. SOON I hope. I was hoping someone would chime in on how the F2 "felt" carving with hardboots. F2 markets it for softies only. The 165 Eliminator has 12m sidecut ( and pretty wide ) so that got me interested...and I can pick up a used 2011 for $200.
  22. So I came across a used 165 F2 Eliminator SBX... Are these any good for serious free carving with hardboots or more of a "high speed scraper"? I have an 176 F2 Respect all mountain that I only keep as a rockboard as it carves like crap (for me anyway)....variable sidecut feels too small towards the tail and kills the carve at the end. My go-to ride is a tanker 192 that hooks up very well throughout carves and fits me like a glove.
  23. My house in Beverly MA REALLY REALLY felt it...(The place already shakes slightly when big rigs go down the street..I suspect we are on the same rock ledge that goes under it ) but this this was 10 times worse and lasted well over 10 seconds! shaking the floor and rattling windows....I thought there was a parade of bulldozers coming down the street. I was expecting to have to shut the gas off....wtf?
