    Stratton

The snow is absolutely stellar, yesterday snow quality rivaled the best I have ridden. The mountain is 98% open (only two carving trails missing). today was day 30 for me and every trail was groomed to perfection and snow was amazing. Now the weather, yeh it is freezing rain today and tomorrow will be awful. But it will get cold on Tuesday night and snow in the forecast for the next four days after that. Stratton is the king of recovery, it could absolutely suck one day and amazing two days later. As long as there is no major long term down turn in the weather it will be worth it. Next Thursday is a long way off, we could get 3 feet of snow between now and then. Check back on Sunday.

  12. ECES Carving Clinics Sign up for your carving clinic now. Some great people have offered their time to put on several carving clinics during the event. Clinics will be available for all ability levels. Clinics will be of two flavors: traditional carving with Ian MacKenzie/Eric Brammer and Pureboarding with Joerg Egli. At this time we have clinics scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday of the event. Morning sessions for both clinics at 9:45AM and afternoon clinics for traditional carving at 1:00PM (See event schedule for more details) If you are interested in taking part in one of the clinics please post in this thread with the clinic type, day and time you would prefer. Final groupings for day and times will be made by those running the clinics. Also if you could rate yourself based on Ian’s rating scale- *Ian, Eric and Joerg are donating their time for free, tips are encouraged Novice - are new to carving equipment, or are learning to carve consistently on select terrain Intermediate - can carve consistently on most terrain, but are still refining style and skills Advanced - can carve confidently on all terrain, and look great doing it Some info on the on these great individuals- Ian MacKenzie Snowboarding since 1989 (age 10), passionate hardboot rider since '93 Level 2 CASI (Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors) certification; he has taught at two snow schools. Ian puts a fair bit of effort into teaching new riders locally and organizing small sessions. Ian teaches standard technical content, but also encourages riders to move past technical details and ride with higher awareness and flow. Eric Brammer “PSR” Anyone who has been around the Alpine community for any amount of time has heard of Eric and the quality of his instruction. He has been snowboarding and instructing longer then some of us have been walking. Spending some time riding the mountain in an Alpine clinic with Eric will improve any riders abilities (Ask anyone who has spent time with him). He has taught some of the best riders on Bomberonline over the years. Joerg Egli Someone that everyone in the alpine community should ride with. Joerg runs Pureboarding.com and is the premier ambassador for Alpine snowboarding world wide. When you first meet him you will immediately see his immense passion for the sport. And this passion is what makes his clinics so worthwhile. He is a natural instructor and will take you to the next level in no time. And you will have fun doing it!!

Immediately following the clinic at 11:15AM to 2PM will be the ECES dual GS FUN race . There will be classes for racers and non-racers. Meet at the top of the race course on the Suntanner trail. Stratton

Since it looks like we may have a lot of people here is what we (Stratton regulars do) Friday- we get dressed in the east wing of the lodge. Be ready to head out to the Gondi 8:40 sharp, they have been letting us on between 8:45 and 8:50 From there we will be lapping URSA chair riding north American, tamarack, and middle brook. For tomorrow looks like we have me, Steph, Paul, Ben and maybe Jonny. Saturday- again we meet in the east wing. But we head out to the Gondi at 7:30 sharp, on the lift at 7:45 for early access. I have room for one more and Eric may as well. Up the Gondi and lapping usra lift. Any interest respond here first come. Looks like we have me, Eric and Geoff? Sunday same process as Saturday. JP1 if you want to be there ready at 7:30 I have a space for you. Then one more available. Monday we will not be at Stratton, Eric, Steph and I are racing at Bromley.
  18. ECES lift ticket only pricing Below is the lift ticket pricing Stratton has provided for ECES attendees not purchasing a lodging package. Notes- 1) One voucher is required for each person purchasing a ticket. So if you are buying tickets for 4 people you need to print 4 vouchers. 2) This ticket pricing is only good for the days of the ECES event Monday 2/27/2012 thru Sunday 3/4/2012, and are not valid any other time. 3) this means vouchers will not be accepted outside of this date range, and tickets purchased will only work on these date ranges. Even if you did not use the ticket during the event it will stop working after the event dates. 4) Weekday tickets purchased with this pricing will not work on Sat. or Sunday, so if you intend to ride on Sat. or Sunday make sure you purchase tickets specific to those days.
  19. Madd did try out a cap construction board during the 90's, not exactly sure when or what the goal was. I have one of those as well, it is the blueish purple one. Also hanging on the wall along with the original 158's, original 170's and the new generation red sidwall 158 and 170.
  20. AlexJ

    Eces Q & A

Yes we have negotiated discounted lift ticket prices outside of the lodging packages. We will be posting those rates as well as the process for purchasing the discounted tickets very shortly. Keep and eye out later this week. Alex
  21. Probably should have left it in the junk bin. The thin plastic coat peeled on all of those. I have one of the first ones of this proto type run and it shares none of the qualities of a Madd board or any other functional carving board for that matter. Nail it to a wall as a piece of nostalgia that’s about all it is good for. Flex is all wrong (what little there is) inserts are to far back, dampening of a tin can, etc. It was produced the year prior to the Cameo new generation boards which were the predecessors to the green sidewall new generation boards. I guess that puts it late 2002 or 2003 No great find other then if you want a part of Madd history. But if someone wants one I have one in great shape for sale??
  22. Does anyone have any experience with getting your snowboard tuned at the Sports Authority? I got a couple of 35% off coupons and was thinking of taking my boards to be tuned. Don't know much about tuning so I thought I would ask here.
  23. AlexJ

    Stratton

They are charging $39 this week.
  24. We will both be on One plank tomorrow. Se you in the AM.
