  1. That may be true. I really meant beginning carvers, which should not be confused with beginner snowboarders. Sorry. I could definitely teach beginner carvers there, but I did not explore their beginner terrain at all. I did see a few other hardbooters last time I was there (2005).
  2. I know you like the tankers for everything that you do - if you were going for 95% carving, would you still take one over an Incline?
  3. I am pretty happy with the Never Summer Legacy 174 that I got last year. I use it as an all mountain freestyle board - which is exactly what it is built for. It carves almost as well as any softy board that I've been on. I also have a Donek Sasquatch (you would want the wide) that I would say probably carves a little better than the NS, but I still can't find fault with the NS. It carves like a dream.
  4. Big Boulder is openning this weekend. Unfortunately (for carvers) they are openning with a park. If you are interested in carving meat gates and park features, it may be worth it.
  5. Gore is a great mountain for carving. If I remember correctly, they have something for just about all levels.
  6. I think that there is a good alpine instructor in our area, but my opinion is biased.;) Try the instructor search to get the full list. I taught at Ski Roundtop for ten years and had a pretty substantial hardboot clientele. My wife and I moved to Pottstown this summer and I have transfered to Bear Creek.
  7. There was a guy named Brad D. from MD that rides the same setup as you. What a co-inkydink. Anyway, he comes to MAC Tracks every year. MAC Tracks is a carving event that we have been holding at Ski Roundtop. This year it will be at Bear Creek on Fri. Feb. 8. Hope you can make it.
  8. Thanks Skully. That was enough for me. I see that it is Block Pro - it is not clearly legible on the one that I saw in a store. I did my search on Black Pro and obviously found nothing.
  9. I thought that the Anti was a 156 and the Kinetic was a 166?
  10. Trailertrash, That is actually what I mean, but for what I am trying to see, it doesn't really matter. I just want to know how people felt about the switch. A lot of people who aren't carving don't know that they are not carving - or don't care.
  11. You know, a grey on a tray in hardboots! It's public domain, now, Mark!
  12. It is my poll and I will do what I want with it. :o ;) Sorry for those who do not fit my categories. I am doing "research". Those of you who started in hardboots are of no use to me. Thanks for joining the conversation, though.
  13. A real man would have started the FS accred. in hardboots.;)
  14. I am trying to find this guy Wolf F-1. Anyone know where, or who he is? I have moved and will be at BC full time and would love to ride with some other hardbooters there. I know of at least 5 already.
  15. I have seen a lot of opinions, but I thought that a poll would give me a better perspective. There were probably more options that I could have listed, but try to stick with the ones that are there.
  16. I would settle for threading the needle in crappy conditions over staying home today. But alas, this opportunity is not for me.
  17. First days never suck - unless you are a pansy who only likes perfect conditions.;)
  18. The link is back up. If I were to leave now, I could be there by dark.:( I hope that you guys take advantage.
  19. Just because I enjoy it doesn't mean I'm any good on it. :) Without ice, the races would be rather boring.
  20. I've been in the deepest of pow and thoroughly enjoyed myself. At the end of the day, though, I still long for the speed of groomers - especially icy groomers. Once an ice coaster, always an ice coaster. And before anyone pulls the "if pow isn't fast enough for you, you have to go steeper" bit, I would still rather just go steeper (think winch-cat) on icy groomers. Of course, a perfectly sculpted halfpipe or superpipe beats both in my mind.
